What are some personal qualities and abilities needed to be a dental hygienists?
Yes, Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) are medical physicians and can practice medicine or go into academia just like Doctors of Medicine (M.D.). Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine and Doctors of Medicine are both full-fledged physicians trained in the United States who attend four years of medical school and are eligible to specialize in any field of medicine after residency training.
Additionally, both DOs and MDs may sit for board certification examinations and each type of physician has the same legal and medical responsibilities such as prescribing medications, performing surgery, working in the hospital, medical diagnosis, etc. The difference between a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine and Doctor of Medicine is a slight one-Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine, in addition to the standard medical curriculum, receive 300-500 hours of instruction in a form of manual therapy known as osteopathic manipulative medicine (OMM). This form of therapy is another approach sometimes used by DOs to address a patient's musculoskeletal issues.

Certainly most DOs would rather have the MD title. The DO took the MCAT and the college credits and did well and could most likely get into a DO or MD school, but got into a DO school and, thus, now has to have the DO title. With all the Carribean MD schools and worldwide MD is known as medical doctors, it would be best if the DO would change its title to MD,DO (Medical Doctor, Diplomate of Osteopathy). The old aging banal dumb asses in the AOA don't want to change this DO degree to MD,DO. They should, especially with the new rising of the mid level Nurse Practioner to Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP). These DNPs are going to dominate in the future and have their own practices with full prescribing rights to all meds, including narcotics. If the DOs don't change their title in MD,DO, these DNPs are going to be a major competitor in the marketplace.

What licensing certification or passing of exams necessary to be a surgeon?
The following is written by and according to the U.S. Department of Labor and particular to the licensing of physicians and surgeons.
Licensure and certification. All States, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories license physicians. To be licensed, physicians must graduate from an accredited medical school, pass a licensing examination, and complete 1 to 7 years of graduate medical education. Although physicians licensed in one State usually can get a license to practice in another without further examination, some States limit reciprocity. Graduates of foreign medical schools generally can qualify for licensure after passing an examination and completing a U.S. residency.
M.D.s and D.O.s seeking board certification in a specialty may spend up to 7 years in residency training, depending on the specialty. A final examination immediately after residency or after 1 or 2 years of practice also is necessary for certification by a member board of the American Board of Medical Specialists (ABMS) or the American Osteopathic Association (AOA). The ABMS represents 24 boards related to medical specialties ranging from allergy and immunology to urology. The AOA has approved 18 specialty boards, ranging from anesthesiology to surgery. For certification in a subspecialty, physicians usually need another 1 to 2 years of residency.

Check the statute of limitations for your state. Washington has a 2 year law, other states vary. Talk to a lawyer, many will give you a free consultation. You will also need to get a second opinion from a different doctor, have everything documented from the original surgery, to the new doctor's opinions, and your full description of pain from the last 2 years. you need to see another doctor have have him diagnose you, find out what is wrong. if he finds that it is some complication due to previous procedure or surgery then you have a case. but hurry, there is a statute of limitations of these things, if your original doctor is liable for medical malpractice then you need to get an attorney and file suit against him right away.
Can doctor of osteopathic medicine get an MD license?
An MD (Doctor of Medicine) is not a license to practice medicine, it is one of the two doctoral degrees that is recognized in order for licensure as a complete physician & surgeon. The DO (Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine) is the other doctoral degree that is recognized for licensure.
Because the two degrees are exactly equivalent, it would be senseless for a DO to obtain an MD degree (and vice versa), since both MDs and DOs are fully able to obtain license for medical practice.
