Can washing powder harm a dog if eaten?
Take it to the vet for emergency treatment. Grab the laundry powder as well, so the veterinarian can read the ingredient label and provide treatment accordingly. If you get to the vets fast enough, they will be able to evacuate your dog's stomach, hopefully before any real damage has been done. If you take a 'wait and see' approach, by the time symptoms show, it will be too late and treatment will be long and expensive.
Laundry powder tends to be pH basic, so you may see signs of caustic burns in the mouth or upper gastrointestinal tract - excessive salivation, vomiting, painful red erosion in the mouth and on the tongue, refusal to eat, etc. Severe signs of problems would include depression, lethargy, pale gums and a bloating stomach - these could be related to a bleeding ulcer in the stomach that can be life-threatening.
How do you get swelling from dogs head after dog bight?
I'm not sure if you meant fight or bite, but you can give your dog an antihistamine (like Benadryl). The dosage of anithistamine for a dog is based on weight; generally 1mg per pound of dog, every 8 hours (or 3x per day). You can call your vet to confirm. If there are open wounds, a cold compress is not generally recommended. Flush the wound with a mild soap and water or sterile solution and bandage or cover it to prevent an infection. If you notice swelling in the nose, mouth or neck areas you should take your dog to the vet immediately.
How do you stop a dog barking at night?
My Neighbors And The Dogs From Hell!
We had been having trouble for months with our neighbors and their dogs. The dogs will bark all day and all night and it does not seem to bother them.
I have tried everything from cursing at the neighbors to calling the cops but nothing worked and it seemed like the cops felt like they had better things to do.
I finally found a solution to this problem and I could not believe how easy it was. Just go to http://www.antibarkingdevice.com and it will show exactly how to stop your neighbor's dog from barking.
I just popped their CD into my stereo and blasted the dog with an ultrasonic sound that humans cannot hear. It worked after one day and I was totally amazed. Anytime I hear them bark, I give them a taste of the blast just to remind them not to bark. You will love the power of shutting them up!
What can be done when a dog loses a bark?
This happens when they get old.
AnswerYou should still see the vet to rule out a possible health issue.
Answer:
That, my friend, is probably a hemorrhoid. With more exercise, fiber, and water, your dog should enjoy less strain when defecating and won't push tissue out of his anal passage.
Over time small hemorrhoids may gradually lessen and disappear. Another possibility: If the lump is located at the 5 or 7 o'clock positions of the anus, it could be impacted anal glands. They will feel like small firm nodules. The anal glands are glands that contain a fluid to scent-mark territory and are usually emptied with bowel movements or when the dog is excited. Sometimes the glands get full of the fluid, and it thickens when not emptying correctly. That is called impaction, and they will need to be expressed to remove the fluid through the clogged gland openings. It isn't a pleasant experience due to the odor, but is something you can do yourself with proper instructions at the Vet's office.
How do you teach a dog a hand shake?
First, teach him to sit. Gently take hold of his paw while saying, "paw," or "shake." Choose the command that works best for you. While holding the paw, give him a treat. Repeat this several times until he is comfortable letting you hold his paw for 30 seconds or more. The next step is to get him to offer his paw instead of waiting for you to pick it up. Hold out your hand as if you are about to take his paw, and give his command. If he raises his paw, go ahead and take it and give him a reward. If he raises it and puts it in your hand, give him several treats in a row and lots of praise (this is called a "jackpot"). Eventually he will learn to put his paw in your hand when you give the command. It's easy to extend shaking to doing a "high five." Start with a dog who knows how to shake. Instead of giving your shake command, use a new one. I use "high five." Hold out your hand as if to shake, but instead of holding it palm up, hold it in the 'high five' position, but at the same height as you usually put your hand to shake. Odds are good he'll make a guess and put his paw on your hand. When he does, give lots of praise and a reward. Gradually raise your hand each time you do 'high five' and he'll learn to aim higher than he does with a shake.
Your dog is drinkiing lots of water and he has blood in his pee?

How old are German shepherds when they lift their leg up to pee?
If the Shepherd is a male they will do it from the age of 5 - 10 Months of age, occasionally some females also bring their leg up but the males do it to further mark their territory.
Edited by Jetsled -
Males lifting one of their hind legs to urinate is widely believed in the veterinary field to be a hormonal development. With that said males begin to go through "puberty" if you will at anywhere from 8 - 15 months. Once testosterone begins to be produced they will then begin to lift their legs to pee.
Can female dogs in heat get fixed?
From the age of 6 months on, the mature female dog will come into heat every 6 months. The heat cycle lasts approximately 2-3 weeks. During that time they will ovulate and that is when they can become pregnant, with a male dog's help of course. There is only a window of about 3 -4 days that the egg can be fertilized. So yes the female dog has to be in heat to become pregnant. You should spay your female dog though if you want her to live a longer and healthier life.
Should older dogs be neutered for health?
Yes, spaying does have many, many health benefits for your Dog. Spaying eliminates the risk of womb infections, ovarian cancer and cervical cancer - which are all life-threatening. If your Dog is spayed before her first season she has virtually no risk of developing yet another extremely common and life-threatening disease - mammary cancer. Whereas, if your Dog is left unspayed until she is 2 years old, her risk of getting these diseases has already reached its maximum. The older a female gets without spaying, the more likely it is that she will develop a life-threatening disease. Apart from improving her health, spaying prevents more unwanted litters and stops her from bleeding and having sometimes painful seasons (heat cycles).

How do you stop your dog dominating other dogs?
Learn how to dominate you dog. You are the Pack Leader and what you say goes. He is not allowed to dominate other dogs under your leadership. Go to a local obedience class, take lots of structured walks on a choke chain and lead, never off lead. Make your dog work for everything he gets, such as he must "sit" on command before he is allowed to eat his food, etc. Most important neuter your dog if you have not already. He will live a much longer and happier life if you do, as you will cut down his risk of cancer such as prostate cancer, perianal tumors, testicular cancer, etc. I also recommend you watch The Dog Whisperer for good advice.
Which breed is smaller toy poodle or bichon frise?
Yes! The smallest dog that was ever on this planet was not a toy poodle. To tell the truth, toy poodles are small, but there are smaller dogs and breeds. The toy poodle is a breed that could be on the top ten smallest breeds! The chihuahua is the number one smallest dog breed in the world.
The so-called teacup dogs are basically anything smaller than the range of a particular breed in the toy category (eg a toy poodle less than 4 pounds), but it is not a recognized distinction, not is it valued, except as a novelty. Teacup dogs may be runts or preemies, and breeding for that trait can lead to serious health problems.
How can an owner tell whether his dog if sad or just calm?
sad would have hids ears back mad would be growling happy tail wagging
Well, it's kind of disgusting to say, but they do it pretty much the same way we do it, except they go outside, if we're lucky. They just go outside, then, if it's a boy, lift up it's leg and let a stream of pee out. Basically the same with girls, but, they just squat.
How do you get two adult dogs to get along?
First up you should consult a vet. Your vet might solve the problem for you, or will, if necessary, refer you to someone who specializes in animal psychology; this might sound stupid, but such specialists can do wonders. There could be many reasons why your dogs are not getting along, in the same way there are many reasons why people don't get along. It might seem expensive to consult a vet and possibly a specialist, but that's nothing compared to the problems you'll suffer if your dogs continue to make life difficult for themselves and the humans they live with. The very last thing you want is to be forced to find new homes - or worse - for creatures who trust you with their lives. to add to this answer the best way for pets to get along is to have them get to know each other before bringing home this dog/puppie have them smell each other allowing them to see what there like. Then unless ur corrent dog is aggresive towards food put a small divider in front of the dogs food dishes place on dogs dish on one side and the other on the other side this allows your dogs to smell each other around the wall (but your dogs are in less harm) if its a puppie bring him to your house or have the dog vist him/her where he/she stays (ask vet, breeder, store owner who ever has the puppie) then let them get along. Remember always reword treats to your dog and your other dogf for good behavior around each other and for more information on chewing and other things I say try the books with the titles of : Golden Retrievers For Dummies, Golden Retriever 101, and Love That Golden. these are great informational books i have had 4 Golden Retrievers. I hope that helped Thank You.
my dog is like that, she's TOO nice, here's some advice, though:
Don't be mean, they'll just use all that extra energy to attack you. If it's a puppy, or a small dog, tell it not to jump and ignore when it jumps or "attacks" you. Soon the dog will learn that it isn't good to do that.
Put it's food and water dish away from the table, and feed it after you're done eating. Don't give it treats too often, it will just beg for more.
However, if your dog is huge(mine is a seint bernard/black lab[HUGE]), then teach it while it's a puppy, or it will probably never stop it's behaivor until it gets too old or grown tired of jumping everywhere. My dog is about 8years old, though, and it STILL acts hyper! We just put her outside and try to stay away from her, except for her meals. We play with her, but not much, because she has a tendency to knock us down.
I hope that helps! Just ask me if you have more Qs
Why is your dog all of a sudden afraid to ride in the car?
It's not the breed of dog that is afraid of car rides, it's your pet! The best thing to do is put your dog on a leash and put it in the car. Then drive to a safe park ordogie area and play ball or go for a walk with the dog (making it fun time for them.) Do this for 2 weeks and your dog will associate car rides with fun. I've trained my two dogs this way.
Yes, we have a four month old brown puppy, male. We use a crate to place him in which we've done since age 2 months. He loves to go bye, bye in the car and the crate provide a safe place him to ride. Sometimes I do let him out to sit in my lap (hubby drives) he is well behaved, looks out the window. We always take a rawhide ear for him to chew, food, puppy puddle pad, water and a fold up dish from pet store which we place in a lunch bag just for him. Remember pets are like our children and they need us to be prepared for them. Practice taking your dog in the car, start with short trips, soon he will love it.
How long do dogs have to be stuck to get pregnant?
When dogs mate, there is often a "Tie". The dog's penis has a structure called the Bulbus Glandis - commonly called the Knot. This is a bulb of erectile tissue which expands during coitus, and prevents the penis from being extracted from the vagina of the bitch. Canine ejactulate has 3 distinct parts (called fractions). The first is a clear watery fluid, which contains no sperm - this is ejactulated in large volumes as the dog starts to mount the bitch and start the humping action. The second is a milky fluid, which contains the sperm - this is a relatively small volume, and is ejactulated once the Knot has formed. The third is a clear water fluid, similar to the first, and this is ejaculated continually until the tie ends. For conception to occur, the second fraction of the ejaculate needs to get into the bitch's uterus. This is most likely to happen when the dogs are tied or "knotted", but it can happen that the knot will form outside the vagina. As long as the dogs remain together at that time, there should be a good chance of conception. So the short answer is, no - but it really helps.
Why do dogs sometimes shake violently during sleep?
My guess is it might be having nightmares or muscle spasms. I'd say keep an eye on the dog for a week or two and if it continues each night or in a pattern which you feel is too often then have the dog seen by a vet.
AnswerDogs can dream and if you watch them their eyes are much like a humans in REM sleep (eyes going back and forth and blinking) sometimes their noses twitch, tails wag and the feet will move as if they are running. They may mumble a bark every so often. If the dog is just twitching and appears still I suggest as the above poster did that you take your dog into the vets ASAP.
NO NO, ignore the above answer, yes your pet can dream which would cause them to spasm, move, but its mainly due to REM sleep. Like humans, when dogs enter REM sleep they spasm, twitch, much like our eyes do when we enter REM sleep, except for them its not just their eyes, it can be legs, paws, body.
How much is the percentage of children who go blind because of dog poo?
Zero percent, as far as anyone I've ever known is concerned. What's the deal with childhood blindness connected with dog feces?
