Why can't people drink large amounts of salt or sugar water?

Salt Water- People cannot drink large amounts of saltwater because it will cause them to be dehydrated. Not only does it taste bad, but it makes you even more thirsty, causes hallucinations, and can potentially kill you.

Sugar Water- People cannot drink large amounts of sugar water because you can get a heart attack. Too much sugar will accumulate as fat, clog up your arteries and veins, and will make you have a heart attack. This can obviously kill you. People also can't drink sugar water because if they are diabetic, it will cause them to have high blood pressure and die.

Hope this helps!

If you stop eating, your body will go into "survivor mode" & will start to shutdown & you will not lose any weight. Weight lose needs to be done safely over a reasonable period of time ( months ). A proper diet & exercise is the best way to lose weight. You will not see a significant lose in just 5 days.

Can drinking too much water cause negative ovulation test result?

I have heard else where that it can dilute the LH in your urine. That is also the reason why many tests say to take it first thing in the morning so that it is more concentrated. I don't know for sure but that is just what I have found on other sites.

Can non potable water be used to fill a swimming pool?

I think it would depend on why the water is unfit to drink. If it is because of chemical pollutants, I'd definitely not fill my pool with it. If it is off just a little because of bacteria, a good shocking/chlorine should kill any bugs.

Can a Pur filter turn salt water into drinking water?

Most water filtration-type devices will not be certified to reduce sodium. Check the label to see if the product is certified to reduce Total Dissolved Solids or TDS.

A filter can separate an insoluble solid from a solvent.Salt is a soluble solid in water and therefore it cannot be removed from drinking water by using filters. To remove salt from water, the water has to be evaporated out of the solution and condensed back into water into another container leaving the salt at the base of the container which is heated to crystallize and cooled.

Is the botteled drinking water safe to drink?

Most of us know that there is problem with some of our drinking water - sometimes it is the taste, other times it's the smell. But what ever it is, most of us don't believe that our drinking water is healthy. It's estimated 60% to 80% of all cancers are environmental in origin. Several studies have demonstrated the presence of chemical carcinogens in surface, ground water, and municipal treated drinking water.

However, often overlooked are the beneficial properties in drinking water that can help protect us from cancer - namely total dissolved solids (TDS), hardness, and pH. Drinking waterwith higher amounts of TDS and hardness results in lower heart disease and cancer mortality rates. Fluoridation is a highly emotional and controversial issue in which it is difficult to separate fact from fiction. The bottom line: Is it effective? Is it safe? Fluoride toxicity has been linked to genetic damage in plants and animals, birth defects in humans, plus a series of allergic reactions ranging from fatigue, headaches, urinary tract irritations, diarrhea and many other problems. Dr. Dean Burk, former researcher with the National Cancer Institute, claims "one tenth of all cancer deaths in this country can be shown to be linked to fluoridation of public drinking water." Worldwide there is very little fluoridation. Countries that start usually end up stopping it.

His experiments clearly demonstrate that "the basic cause of atherosclerosis and heart attacks and most common forms of strokes is chlorine. The chlorine contained in drinking water."

Can chlorine be linked to cancer too? Chlorine combines with natural organic matter creating cancer-causing trihalomethanes (THMs). Research came from the most famous universities around the world, demonestrate that where ever the higher levels of THMs are there higher levels of cancer also. Proper water filtration systems can remove these carcinogens.

Bottled water is big business. Generally the bottled water tastes better in comparison the tap water. But is it "healthy water?" It depends on several factors. Is it hard? Is it moderately high in TDS (total dissolved solids)? Most bottled waters in the United States do not give the information you need to answer these questions. Most of the bottled waters are processec water using reverse osmosis, distillation, filtration or de-ionization. Frankly, you can do this yourself and save money.

Of the more than 700 brands of bottled water available in Asia, around 80% are processed water.

A"healthy water" should contains about 170 mg hardness and TDS around 300 mg. Another "healthy water" option is using an effective filter. Most states require 3rd party testing of water products; however, most people have difficulty understanding the results. One solution to consider is a whole-house filtration system for chemical removal, not mineral extraction. Point of use filters for bathing, showering, and drinking are also recommended.

How can you make drinking water if you are stranded on a desert island in the ocean?

Of course, drinking salt water is extremely dangerous, and it does more harm than good. Rain water or a natural sprin is your best bet. Create rain traps using palm leaves, or split a hollow branch.

If you come across a dry river bed, dig in the bends and under rocks. If the sand is moist deep down, keep digging and you are sure to hit water. Good luck!
