If this person is asking why boys like the stereotypical emo girl, then that's not very pretty. It just isn't whatsoever "pretty". I'm not saying that the girls themselves are ugly, but their style is not pretty. Covering your eyes in black, dressing in black and taking pictures they rarely smile in? Pass. As far as emotional goes, I'm pretty sure MOST normal guys would rather not have an overly emotional girl. That's what they complain about most is their girls bitching.

Of course, there is also the chance that he's just a bully and has singled you out to pick on for some reason. Thanks, although i'd like to point out that I'm 21 in three weeks so the teenager stuff has kind of finished lol. My problem is actually quite long winded, hence the confusing question. I'm not sure how to ask it. He's definitely not a bully and when I need him to, he really helps me out. But for example, he'll comment on a picture of me and instead of perhaps complimenting me like I do to him (most of the time), he'll say something stupid like, there's one where I'm wearing red lipstick and he said "yuk, red lipstick". It's all so confusing, but I don't want to ask him upfront because firstly, I fear rejection and secondly, I love having him as a friend anyway and feel that if I said something, that may be ruined!

You can get the punk look but not look emo by not just wearing the black or red but adding some other colors like pink into the outfit. Then you don't get the full effect of being emo, but punk. There is not such thing as a punk look. It is a state of mind and your clothing choices should only be limited by your immagination, not fear of being labeled emo, or something like that. Plus, emo and punk really have nothing to do with each other.

It's not hard to look punk unless your trying too hard. If you have money to throw around look in Hot Topic. If not, you could always look in thrift stores. That's what punk is being about. Not worrying about labels like it said earlier, and being creative with your style. Because you wear black doesnt make you punk or emo, its black. The best way I can put this, is to try to find your own style and not worry whats in style.

Why do I like emo music when I am not emo?

What is the different between emo and punk?
Punk or Punk Rock is a style of music that was born in the 70s, influenced by rock musicians who used unconventional methods of studio edition, instruments and rythmn. It's principal characteristics are fast, hard edge songs, with stripped down instrumentalism, and political and anti establishment charged lyrics. Whille punk was a general term, it was played different within the style of bands. The Sex Pistols, for instance, played loud songs with somewhat distorted guitars, in mid tempo. The Ramones, in other case, played light songs, sometimes with fun lyrics, in fast tempo, and normally, they didn't went over 3 minutes. The Punk Rock itself has many subgenres, being the Oi! and the Hardcore Punk the most loud and powerful, the Post Punk being the more avant-garde creative (influences from dub and krautrock being a principle), and the Pop Punk being the most commercial, however, not the worst of all, and there are many many more genres. Bands like Sex Pistols, Ramones, The Clash, bands preceding punk rock, like Iggy Pop, The Stooges, MC5, The Kinks, modern punk rock, like NOFX, Pop Punk, like Green Day and The Offspring, Hardcore Punk like Minor Threat, etc.
Emo, from the 80s music, came from the sub genre Hardcore Punk. While Hardcore Punk used political lyrics, the Emo, called Emocore or Emotional Hardcore, used more confessional, personal lyrics, dealing with relationships and feelings. However, the Emo music mixed more than just "hardcore", it includes influences from the indie rock, and even the folk rock. It's birth is traced to the Rites of Spring band. In the past, Emo music was seen as respectful and good, with bands like Sunny Day Real Estate, Cap'n Jazz, Rites of Spring, The Get Up Kids, The Promise Ring, Texas is the Reason, and others, being influences for a lot of rock and indie modern bands.
The Emo music, however, became an staple for eye liner and suicidal tendencies stereotype, and now, any band with any trace of emotional lyrics, and dark eye line, is now considered Emo. If you listen to the bands in the Emo music stated above, you would be surprise in how the "Modern Emo" is like nothing compared to the past years music.
Not all emo girls are shy but most are shy because of what people think of emos. Most people think ALL emo people are freaks, so most emo girls are shy because they dont want even more people messin' with them.
