It takes 6-10 days after fertilisation for the embryo to implant and start producing hormones so you are unlikely to have built up a sufficient hormone level to test positive until around the time of a missed period. Yes, it is possible. It happened to my best friend as well as bleeding. She took three home tests, then one at the doctors...all came back negative. Two weeks later she took another one which came back positive. Went to the doctor next day, had a scan which showed she was two months pregnant. So yes it is possible though it isn't that common.

I just want to agree with this person above. I took four tests and the doctor's test. I was planning for a baby took one two weeks after trying, then waited another week, then another, then another. After that I still wasn't the doctor was going to test me to see when ovulation would occur for me for the best time. When doing that he does a test there to be sure I wasn't pregnant, they all do it. That came back negative. He went to check to see if I had released an egg yet with an ultrasound, and there was my daughter at 5 1/2 weeks.

I just wanted to add that there are a lot of women who register a low HCG count initially and this causes a false negative reading, so if you think youmight be pregnan don't rely entirely on the test results before modifying your lifestyle as if you were indeed confirmed pregnant. If you still feel pregnant and/or your period hasn't come, it's imperative that you take the best possible care of yourself. Te first trimester is the most sensetive time for a developing baby. Eat well, don't drink alcohol or use drugs, even prescriptions meds that are contraindicated in pregnancy if there is even the chance that you are pregnant, despite test results. And see a doctor for an ultrasound if you still have not had a period after two months, esp. if you are having pregnancy symptoms.

Home pregnancy tests are quite accurate. If anything, they give false negatives because it might not have picked up enough of the pregnancy hormone but positives are usually accurate. If you want to be absolutely sure, take another test and if that one too says you are pregnant, count on it.

I would think its completely normal. I missed 5months of periods. Its most common if you've just started. But then again if you havent it happens. You'll always miss periods, you just have to enjoy the time you have, because trust me, they'll be back before you know it.

Any line in the "result" window, anything at all, no matter how faint, can be considered a positive result. Early pregnancy produces low levels of HCG (the pregnancy hormone detectable in urine) and thus produce a barely-there line. Test again in a few days and the line will get darker and more visible. (Levels of HCG double every day in early pregnancy) So in short, it means your pregnant. If the control window has a line, the test is working properly. If the result window also has a line, even if it's almost invisible, it's a positive result.

There is about a 5% chance or less of still being pregnant after getting a negataive blood test. If your doctor says you aren't pregnant, then go with that. If you strongly feel you are, then you should talk with your doctor a bit more and see if there are other tests that can be done. You could have taken the blood test too early.
