Many house fires are caused by cooking accidents in the kitchen. Frying on a stove is dangerous and unattended cooking fires account for almost half of ALL interior house fires!
Other common sources of house fires include:
What a RACE means in a Fire Safety?
RACE is an acronym that is useful in a hospital fire emergency. It may help to remember:
R - Remove patient from the area
A - Alert help, call 9-1-1
C - Confine the fire (close doors)
E - Extinguish small fire, if able to do so safely
It is related to the acronym REACT.

What government is most responsible for providing police and fire protection?
Depending on the location, it will probably be a local government. In the United States, there are local municipality governments, County governments, State governments, and the Federal government.
If you live within a city's boundaries, the city government is primarily responsible for emergency services. If you are not in what is designated as city limits, you may be protected by county provided services such as the Sheriff's office, County Police Department, or Fire-Medical services.
Some governments do not have the resources available to provide emergency services, so rely on nearby jurisdictions or a higher agency.
For example, if a city has no police department or no officers available, they will rely on County/State/Federal agencies to be able to assist them with protecting their citizens.
Alternatively, some governments actually contract out to privately-owned services. This is commonly seen with Emergency Medical Services more than any other emergency service.
Many countries operate in a similar function, but there are also many that operate in a variety of different ways. If you are concerned about who is responsible for providing you emergency services, please contact your local government and they should be able to assist you.
What does the term fire triangle mean?
The fire triangle is now mostly disused, but it consisted of 3 sides, heat, fuel and oxygen.
It was discarded for the "Fire Tetrahedron" which adds in an ignition source.
It is a graphical representation of the 3 things any fire needs:
1)Fuel
2)Oxygen
3)Heat
What is the colour code of diesel pipe line as per NFPA standard?
As per Indian standard its Brown colour.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There is no specific code for coding pipelines in the US, different industrial plants use different color schemes. Gray pipe with a dashed red stripe painted every 6 feet, yellow pipe with a solid red stripe every 6 feet, solid orange pipe (solid red pipe is always fire protection systems according to NFPA rules), brown pipe with red or black stripes every 6 feet....and so on.
The oxygen that a fire needs is used to support the chemical reaction which takes place when something burns. The oxygen is used along with heat to convert the fuel, which typically is composed of hydrocarbons, to mostly carbon dioxide and water. Without the oxygen the fire would die out, because the chemical reaction couldn't take place without it. A fire needs three things in order to remain burning: fuel, an adequate supply of oxygen, and a sufficient heat source.
Oxygen does not itself burns but supports burning. If the burning substance does not get adequate amount of Oxygen the burning of a substance willl b reduced and fire wouldn't rise much.It will blowed off.
What is mean by deluge valve and its function?
It's type of valve used in fire water system for fire protaction.
There are two reasons. First, a closed room does not allow smoke to escape. Smoke inhalation can be deadly. Second, fire consumes oxygen, which we need to breathe. In an open space, we can easily get more oxygen from the surrounding air, but it is harder for fresh air to enter a confined space.
Where do you place your hands to see if a door is hot from a fire?
First on the door handle (carefully). Then on any thinner panel.
Why is CO2 unsuitable for electric fire?
You are wrong, CO2 is particularly used to extinguish electrical fires.
According to the EPA:
(...) some of the types of hazards and equipment that carbon dioxide systems protect are "flammable liquid materials; electrical hazards, such as transformers, switches, circuit breakers, rotating equipment, and electronic equipment (....)
and they also mention the reason:
Carbon dioxide is the most commonly used "inert" gas extinguishing agent, followed by nitrogen (Friedman 1992) (...) Carbon dioxide fire extinguishing systems are useful in protecting against fire hazards when an inert, electrically nonconductive, three-dimensional gas is essential or desirable and where clean up from the agent must be minimal (...)
NFPA 1031 addresses the professional performance levels and qualifications for fire inspectors and plans examiners.
Where do you position the emergency switch for an oil burner?
Wherever you are most likely to be when you discover an emergency. I'm not being flippant; that's the right answer.
If this oil burner is large (I have no way to know from your question) you might place it near your exit since in an emergency you will likely be leaving the area and can hit the switch as you leave the room. You also want it placed so it isn't accidentally triggered.
What is snuffing steam quantity required vent for fire protection?
The quantity require is the same volume it takes to impreganate a woman.
What is the nfpa requirement for Storage of oxidizers and corrosives?
The specific, applicable NFPA standards would depend upon the type of occupancy and quantity of storage, among other things.
You would start with NFPA 101 for Life Safety Code and NFPA 1 for Fire Code and follow their respective references, or see if there is a specific standard for your type of occupancy, e.g., NFPA 430 Code for the Storage of Liquid and Solid Oxidizers.
What makes land more likely to catch fire?
Land is most likely to catch fire if it is dry, with an extremely high percentage of organic matter, such as peat.
Possibly, but it may require specific permission from the local fire marshal or other fire officials, in case they want to require that one or more trained fire wardens are posted at the facility until the system is restored.
