Stop Burn pain?

Depends on the burn. For 1st degree burns, topical xylocaine, over the counter, works really well. You can augment it with aspirin, ibuprofin, acetaminophin, etc. Wetpacks can also help.

For more serious burns, you can only wetpack if the burn is closed. And the pain management may increase to systemic painkillers all the way up to morphine or clinical heroin in extreme burn cases. Note that, while 3rd degree burns may be painless at first due to the destruction of pain neurotransmitters at the burn site, the healing process may be extremely painful.

Most (but not all) folks advise against oil based topical prepatations. While the oil prevents air from hitting the wound, which reduces pain, oil acts as an adhesive to all amnner of dirt and bacteria, and thus can be an infection risk. Additionally, when the burn is treated (deribded, bandaged, etc.) this will have to be cleaned off, which is often painful.

Protect yourself from being a casualty of biological agents?

The best way is to avoid Bio agents -- get out of the area. However, Bio-war (or terrorism) is actually very very hard to do, and even harder to get right. For instance, aerial sprayers (like they show in movies) tend to destroy most organisms they try to spread. Very few bio-agents survive long outside the body, and weaponizing them is outrageously difficult. In order to protect yourself, if you feel there's a threat, move upwind. Make sure you clean yourself thoroughly whenever you think there's a chance of exposure (using warm, soapy water). And mostly don't worry. This is a highly complex and difficult attack modalilty. You're at far greater risk from bee stings, lightning bolts and of course, car accidents. *Remain in an approved shelter until the threat has been neutralized. If you must go out, wear protective covering. *

Is the smoke from burning heating oil toxic?

Yes. Like any smoke, it contains high levels of particulate matter as well as toxic gases associated with combustion. The most immediately danger is that of Carbon Monoxide, which by itself is odorless and tasteless. Even if the Carbon Monoxide doesn't get you, the other components of the smoke can cause pulmonary burns, edema (fluid in the lungs), and death. Exposure to low levels of the smoke can be injurious over time and expose you other airborne toxins and carcinogens.

What do the contents of a first aid kit do?

They provide the user with the basic level of tools necessary to treat minor wounds that commonly occur.

Most will contain: medical tape, a handful of gauze for staunching bloodflow, small medical bandages for small cuts, and often a bacteriostatic agent such as bacitracin cream to halt the growth of microbes.

More advanced kits will include: analgesic cream or spray for insect stings, mild pain medications such as acetaminophen or ibuprofen, and athletic wraps for injured or sprained joints.

Can you use mometasone furoate on small cuts?

I wouldn't. This is a steroid. It has applications in nasal inflammation and closed skin inflammation, but steroids in open cuts isn't all that beneficial. For most small cuts I prefer a mixture of hydrogen peroxide and beta-dyne scrub, then water rinse, dry and bandage.

How long can you live if you are bitten by a tiger?

If it eats you, not long. If it doesn't, you can expect to live for up to 100 years.

The tiger's bite, while powerful, is not poisonous. Unless it tears open a major blood vessel or organ, it is only as bad as any other injury. Prompt medical treatment has saved many individuals mauled by tigers or other wild cats.

What does symptoms mean in first aid terms?

As a Paramedic, when I assess a patients condition, I look for 'Signs & Symptoms'.1. If the patient is UNCONSCIOUS use Signs - these signs are the signals that certain organs give off that tell me whether they are functioning or not... These signals are as follows:To check the BRAIN, assess the LEVEL OF CONSCIOUSNESS,To check the LUNGS, assess the BREATHING,To check the HEART, assess the PULSE andassess the SKIN for COLOR and TEMPERATURE.The above organs are called VITAL ORGANS, and the SIGNS to look for are called VITAL SIGNS.2. If the patient is CONSCIOUS ask the patient about their SYMPTOMS. In other words. SYMPTOMS are things the patient needs to tell the rescuer like pain & nausea.not eating cheese is a symptom of lactosintolerant

How do you swallow marbles?

I have been swallowing marbles and glass gems for over a month now. Start with one marble and simply swallow it with water as you would a pill. Work your way up to larger amounts to avoid nausea. Be careful as the marbles will clog your toilet. I use cling wrap and vinyl to retrieve swallowed objects.

Please do not swallow metal, especially magnets, because you can do great harm to your body.

Think hard about why you want to swallow marbles in the first place. The behavior can be dangerous and addictive. Personally, I swallow marbles as a form of hunger control. I've lost quite a lot of weight by filling my stomach with non food items.

Is it necessary to know about first aid?

Yes, it is. Besides being able to possibly save someone else's life, you are able to treat any minor injuries that may occur to yourself, and you will also have the ability to help stop more serious conditions (such as severe bleeding, etc.). While much of first aid is common sense, a first aid course would be a great thing to take, both for your own sake and for the chance to be able to save someone's life one day.

What is the name of the skin that peels off after a bad sunburn?

Quick answer would be the Epidermis or the top most part of the skin.

To be more in depth would need us to look at the three skin layers and the four types of burns.

Epidermis- The top most layer of skin. Mostly used in protection and moisture retention for the lower layers.

Dermis- Contains strands of hair as they grow through the skin, some minor capillary tubes for carrying blood.

Subcutaneous Layer- Deepest part of the skin that carries our hair roots, blood vessels and some veins along with muscles.

1st Degree Burn- Sun burn or skin irritation when using a harsh skin product. This burn irritates the epidermis and causes the cells here to be damaged or even die and usually causes peeling.

2nd Degree Burn- This can be caused from touching a hot surface for a split second or prolonged sun damaged. This causes cell damage in the dermis and causes a boil or any kind of bump on the skin due to heat exposure.

3rd Degree Burn- Is widely known as the worst burn you can get though i will explain one more type after this that is worse. This burns down into the subcutaneous layer of skin and damages some muscle tissues, blood vessels, hair follicles and the part of the body that allows us to grow more skin. Usually requires a skin graft and intensive care at a hospital or emergency department. Usually hair and skin will not regrow from a 3rd degree burn.

4rd Degree Burn- This is a burn that goes all the way down to the muscles and bones. It is life threatening and unrepairable for the most part. It can cause damage to the bone marrow which could cause a red blood cell deficiency.
