How often should you vacuum your carpet?

It depends on how much food you eat and if you're a messy eater. If you eat slobbily, then clean it every day. If you eat better once every two days is good. I guess every weekend. In an ideal world it would be better to vacuum at least once everyday, especially in areas where there is high traffic and a lot of use of that space. If you have severe allergies this would also be a great idea as it cuts down on animal hair and dander.

Since we are all so busy with our lives vacuuming twice a week seems to be the standard now. I suggest getting a smaller "dirt devil" type of vacuum just for areas that you eat over and use a lot! I use mine for under the table and in the living room where I have the most use.

How many 300mmx600mm tiles fit into 1square meter?

300 mm = 0.300 meter and 600 mm = 0.600 meter. The area in meters of each tile is therefore 0.300 X 0.600 = 0.180 square meter. The number of tiles require to total 1 square meter therefore is 1/0.180 = about 5.5. Therefore, no integral number of tiles will exactly fill the specified space, and no more than five will fit. If the 1 square meter has a very long and narrow shape, narrower than 0.300 meter, no tiles at all will fit.

How do you restore terrazzo floors?

Composition: The floor consists of an under layer of cement concrete in ratio of 1:2:4(1 part of cement: 2 parts of coarse sand: 4 parts of graded stone aggregate 12.5 mm nominal size). Its thickness depends on size of marble chips used.

Under Layer Cement concrete mixture should be used for under layer. The panels should be of uniform size. In exposed situations, length of any side of the panel should not be more than 1.25m.

Terrazzo RestorationA terrazzo floor is the same as any concrete slab with a few exceptions. It is often placed over a concrete slab in a thin layer, from a half to three quarters of an inch in thickness. It is seeded with with colored marble chips on the surface while the mix is fresh, and the chips are seated in during the floating or troweling process. After the mixture hardens, the polishing process begins. Large floor grinding machines using diamond chip impregnated cutters polish the surface in steps from coarse to fine.

You now have a beautiful terrazzo floor, but highly susceptible to staining. Most contractors place one or two layers of sealers on the finish but this is not enough. In a school system where I performed this installation, we had to take great precautions to protect the floors. Then, upon occupying, the school personnel stripped off the sealer and applied multiple layers of floor wax per manufacturer's recommendations.

Therefore, in order to restore a terrazzo floor one must first strip and clean all waxes, sealers, dirt and grime. Then you have to consider whether repolishing the surface will remove stains and imperfections which sometimes penetrate very deep into the surface. Then, if repolishing won't do it, you must consider removing the floor and reinstalling it.

But before I did that, I would aggressively clean the surface and then do a proper job putting down layers of floor wax. Often the sheen from this procedure, especially after a thorough cleaning of the old floor, will conceal most imperfections.

Can you paint the concrete floor as soon as muriatic acid etching dries?

To test a concrete floor for sufficient dryness before painting you should tape a two foot by two foot square of (clear) plastic film to the floor, wait 48 hours and see if the concrete is darker under the plastic or if any condensation has occurred on the underside of the plastic. If so then the floor is not dry enough. If no condensation or darkness, paint.

Does the hardwood gain its original size back after its shrinked?

Usually not.The process for laying timber floors is more complicated than merely slapping a few boards down. What we do here is select the flooring carefully, leaving it fillet stacked in the area it is to be laid, for 2-4 weeks in a weather proof environment:ie building is closed in.When laying boards, floor cramps must be used.

How can you match your ceramic tile which has damage from a cracked foundation?

Go back to the vendor, retailer and ask them to try & find it. If you know the exact size & vendor, style & color name, you could do an Internet search. But if the floor is more than 5 years old the chances of finding it are slim & none!

The other issue will be that Tile is subject to a considerable variation in Dye lots from production run to run & even if you find it, it will never match what is down...

sorry

What should I do if there are footprint smudges on a drying polyurethane floor and how can I get it off without adding another coat?

This is a very hard fix. You will have to wait until the polyurethane to dry. Lightly sand the area affected and try to touch up the space. It may or may not look normal. But it's worth trying to fix it before you sand the entire area. There really isn't a lot that can be done until after it dries.

How much will it cost to carpet a room that is 13 feet by 15 feet and the carpet costs 2.78 a sq foot?

First work out the area of the floor. Area = width * length

13*15= 195. So there are 195 square feet. The carpet costs 2.78 per square foot, so multiply 195 by 2.78.

Is there an epoxy based paint for ceramic tile?

An epoxy paint would not be the best choice when painting your existing ceramic tile. There are ceramic tile paints on the market or a high quality oil based paint would be the best to use.

A large amount of the work is in preparing the tiles to be painted. First step is to sand off the gloss finish existing on the tiles. This will ensure a rough surface for the preceeding coats of paint to bond to the tile. An orbital sander is a great tool for this stage. Thouroughly clean the surface and area.

Next you want to apply a high bonding oil primer over the entire surface. If you can see the tile finish after the first coat has dried ensure to apply a second coat of high bonding oil primer. Keep in mind you can have your primer tinted at the paint store to a couple shades lighter then the final color. Oil primer is the prefered choice due to the qualities of resisting water and fungus and mold growth.

Once the primer has been applied and allowed to thouroughly dry (24-48 hrs) you can begin with applying the final color choice. Apply as you did with the primer ensuring to allow sufficient drying times between coats. Expect to apply two coats of finish paint as the first coat, once dry, will show the misses. Apply a second coat.

Once the final coat of paint has been allowed to dry for at least 48 hours you want to apply two coats of clear urethane to seal the paint. Clear urethane provides protection for the paint and allows for easy clean up of the surface during household chores.

What will it cost to carpet a room 13 feet wide and 22 feet long if carpeting costs 11.99 per square yard?

The total area is 286 square feet which equals 31.78 square yards.

If you're allowed to have 'seams' - where the carpet has been cut to fit, you would need 32 square yards, costing a total of 383.68.

However - if the carpet needs to be one single piece - with no seams, you would need 40 square yards, costing a total of 479.60 - but you'd have quite a bit left over.

How many yards in 1 square foot?

Answer

It would be a ninth of a square yard. Nine square feet would be 1 square yard.

In general, for "square" measurements, you need to square the normal ratio. For example, there are 3 feet in a yard, so there are 3 squared, or 3*3 feet (9 feet) in a yard.
