How do you replace wiring cluster 1998 Ford Escort?

Do you mean the wiring harness? All the wiring on the Escort? First you take all the wires off under the hood and feed them back through the firewall to under the dash. Then you disconnect all of the wiring in the car which feeds back into under the dash.

Then, you take the 2 harnesses apart under the dash. It's about an 8 hour job and if done at the dealers it will be fairly expensive.

How do you replace heater blower motor resistor on 1997 ford escort?

It may be similar as my 2003 escort ..so try to look for it . From your passenger seat

look behind the blower motor housing where 2 plugs are plugged in ..one plug has 4 wires ,one has one wire . The plate with the receptacles for the plugs is about

3" by 1 1/2 " square ,attached with 2 screws . To take out the assembly, remove the 2 screws ,take off the 2 plugs , push the plastic locks to unplug them . The resistor assembly has little coils and a thermal fuse on it . You can check the thermal fuse with an Ohm meter ,if it is blown , get a new resistor ..about @ 16.00 or even $ 20.00 if the dealer parts dept is greedy.

To replace the thermal fuse with the same value fuse is a royal pain , can be done though with patience , time and $ 1.69 from Radio Shack .Good luck !

How do you change a 1995 ford escort catalytic converter?

Due to the high temperatures of the catalytic converter it's not reccomended that you do this yourself. The bolts are probably siezed and will break off if you try to take them out. What causes the water temperature to overheat during stop-and-go driving in a 1991 Ford Escort?

electric cooling fan not working will cause this. Allow car to run and wacht the temp gauge, when it hits 225, it should have come on.

AnswerAlso, to force the engine fan on, turn on your air fan switch (air conditioning and heating. Doesn't have to be on the highest setting (#5), but as long as you switch it on, it will automatically turn of the fan motor. I had overheating problems myself once in my '94 LX, and that was a short cut to keep the temp down till I got where I was going. The problem I had was 2 fold, first the water temperature sensor went out and the last jerk mechanics didn't install the correct ratio of water/antifreeze mixture in the system. After finding a reliable mechanic, I trust them every year with good service for regular maintanence. Answeran add on to the answers, if you've had any service to the cooling system make sure there are no air in the system the engine will overheat.
