Usually if a gerbil is missing hair on it's paws, especially it's front ones, they lost the hair because they chewed it off, a behavior gerbils follow when their surroundings stay the same. Basically, when they get bored to death. If this is happening to your gerbil, try giving it more exercise with you and moving the things inside the cage around a bit.

When i got my first gerbils i kept them in my room, at first it was a little hard to sleep with them there and occasionally i had to put them somewhere else. eventually i got used to the noises and can sleep through them easily, i have now had gerbils in my room for about 5 years now although sometimes i have to take them out. MY advice is that if you do decide to keep them in your room make sure there is nothing they can chew in there cage during the night ( e.g. cardboard, plastic wheels and other objects they tend to chew. ) If you leave chewable objects in there cage it will not only be very noisy but you will have a very sleepless night. WHY is there wax on your gerbil? If hot wax fell on your gerbil its probably burned. You should take it to a vet.

ekk! always leave water in the cage for your hamster. if your hamster cant drink water for about a day and a half its going 2 b dehydrated. your hamster would most likely die.

Perhaps your child is being teased? That could cause a lot of heartbreak for a little 1st grader. If this continues, consider switching schools, putting the child in a private school, or homeschooling.

It is a well known fact that fat tailed gerbils are more aggressive than their skinny tailed counterparts. Therefore, the fat tailed gerbil is likely to attack the skinny tailed gerbil because it is jealous of its dashing good looks. However, the extra weight added by the tail will slow the gerbil down to the point of its exhaustion by the time it has crossed the tank. The skinny tailed gerbil will then take advantage of the pooped fat tailed gerbil and begin to claw at vital spots on its body. After a few minutes the fat tailed gerbil will be turned into a finger coat and sold to the highest bidder. These quality finger coats are normally valued at 1,000 dollars but avid collecters are willing to pay up to 5,000 for the rare ones.

Do you mean if its like a cut? If it is but its not serious just flush it with hot water (not too hot) If its like a serious one, go to a vet immediatly incase its something bad. They'll give medicines etc for it I think.

I have a cinnamon colored gerbil with a single patch of black fur behind his right. I think it's a cute birthmark, just something different as compared to the rest of his pelt. So yeah I suppose they can have birthmarks.

Yes, pregnant gerbils usually sleep for long periods of time. This is due to them getting tired from carrying heavy weights. No need to worry if they sleep alot, just make sure they eat and drink lots too.

Yes, they are not nocturnal either. They wake up & go to sleep many times a day, but they will be up at different times day to day, since that cycle is not aligned to 24 hours. You might think they're sleeping all day, when in reality you just happen to check on them at the times that they're sleeping.
