Overland vans is the name of the company you are looking for. They are in Harrison Michigan... all kinds of lift kits for astro, safari, and full size gmc and ford vans.... hope this helps
I have a 1998 gmc safari van and my fuel filter is located on the inside of drivers side of frame rail about half way back of frame.
Have someone support the door while you take a thin flat screwdriver and pry the metal clips off of the ends of the old support. Once the clips are off, the old support will pop off. The new one is just pressed into place with the clips on.
remove interior left corner cap--then remove 3 screws and then remove mirror--->reverse procedure to put back new mirror...u r almost a technician
Note: The sympton with my van was it started but started to require a few trys to get it started....then it required 4-5 trys. Eventually I could not get it started. If I was able to get it started it stayed running and ran fine.
At the risk of sounding like my dad, any internal combustion engine requires three things to run: -Fuel -'Fire' -Compression
Sounds as though you're looking at the most likely problem areas.
Some additional input:
-Fuel: Just because you replaced the fuel filter, that doesn't mean you're getting fuel. If you've replaced all that other stuff without blowing anything up, try disconnecting the fuel line at the point where it enters the carb/injector system, stick a can or fuel-proof container under the end and try cranking the engine a couple times. If nothing comes out, you've got a bad fuel pump. (As previously mentioned in some of my GM related rants, the fuel pump is in the gas tank. Good luck.) -'Fire': Using a thick glove or rag, disconnect one of the plug wires and hold it close to the engine block while someone cranks the engine a couple times. If no electrical flash between the plug wire and ground, you're still missing something in the ignition system. -Compression: Probably not an issue, unless you've already confirmed you've got fuel and 'fire'. Even with a blown head gasket, the thing should try to fire and maybe even run-roughly.
First thing DONT EVER hold the spark plug wire with any part of YOU when cranking over the van or any car .if it there is a very high voltage that can kill you before that the easyest way to test the fuel pump is to have somone turn the ignition to on not to start just till the radio wiper work but of couse have them turned off so you can hear . listen right at the gas refill door if your FUEL PUMP is working you will here it prime for startup.. If you dont here anything then start cheking fuses if all fuses are ok then your pump is fubar Iv had to replace mine. Just remember its either gas or electrical that will stop your vehical from starting .After rereading your Q if it starts and runs and stops and will not start again that sounds like the FUEL FILTER had that happen to me too. The fuel filter when cold at first start it allows fuel threw butt after fuel passing threw the filter heats up by friction and swells up making it inpassable IE no start but engine crancks but wont start that is the first thing to check from what you discribed good luck
A loose wire in the circuit somewhere; a faulty circuit breaker; faulty receptacles/luminaries.
The problem could be due to corrosion of the insulation of old wiring (not UF cable type used long ago) going to the garage. This happened to my garage that was built approximately 60 years ago. Suggest tracing the wiring with an ohm meter or continuity tester from the source to the garage to see if the line is open or close.
This Can Be Caused By A Couple Things. You Have Overfilled The Engine In Oil ( which I doubt). The Oil Is Not Returning To The Oil Pan As Fast As It Should And Staying In The Valve Train, Under The Valve Covers. Your Engine Is Worn And You Have Excessive Blowby Try Putting A 5 Weight Oil 5W 40 This May Clean The Sludge From The Oil Gallies. If It Isn`t All That Bad, Just Keep Driving. GOOD LUCK
I have a 2000 gmc safari van that does just this, won't start under damp/wet conditions. It will start one the block heater has been on for about 40 minutes (depending on how hard its raining etc).
I've checked replaced faulty fuel pump, wiring to fuel pump, fuel filter, and now inlined to believe its electrical, distributer stuff has been relaced,as has wiring and plugs. Now having found the coil I intend to relace it (if I can figure out how to get it out)
I see at one stage (can't remember models recalled) GM issued replacing coil lead to distributer, because of arching going on.
Anyhow that's what I'm up to so far. Terry
If you are talking about the v8, remove the cowling between the front seats, you will see the wire leads to the spark plugs. Vacumn the recessed area where the plugs are to prevent dirt falling in the cylinders. On the left side you need to remove a protective sheild. It has two bolts screwed to the floor. You should be able to reach all the plugs now. LIONHEART
Do you mean fuel sender? If you do it's located in the fuel tank and is a complete unit (pump & sending unit).
You have a vacuum leak. Usually find the hard thin vacuum line that runs from L/H top of the engine acroos the front and over to th eR/H fender broken. But it could be from any part of the vacuum system.
I am the owner of a 1998 gmc safari awd van and i am 100% sure that the computer on mine is under drivers seat. Yes under drivers seat mounted to the floor.
I have a 99 4Runner SR5; I believe it is an 18.3 gallon tank, but don't quote me on that. It is at least 18.
Code 22 on a 1993 Honda Accord means the VTEC oil pressure switch is defective. The most common fix to this error code is simply checking your oil level and fill it back up. If your oil level is good, check the wiring to the pressure switch.
It uses Trak II transfer case fluid, GM part number 12378508. The fluid goes in a hole, use a ratchet with an extension to remove it, on the side of the transfer case.
there are bolts on the floor just below the glove box and 2 bolts on the firewall
You can find a complete vacuum hose diagram for your 1994 GMC Safari van in a Chilton or Haynes automobile repair manual. These manuals can be found at most local libraries or purchased at automobile parts stores. These companies also have online resources available for certain make and model vehicles.
