How do you change a serpentine belt on 1996 gmc Yukon?

Just changed the water pump and hoses to the water pump. I decided to replace the serpentine belt as well. This should take about 15 minutes. No need to remove the fan shroud if you can reach down below to the pulleys. The fan blades can do a number on your hands if you are not careful. I wore mechanics gloves as a precaution. Make sure you draw a diagram of how the belt goes on before you take the old belt off. On the front of the tensioner spring pulley there is a square slot for a 1/4" ratchet drive to fit into. Insert the ratchet into the slot and turn the ratchet so the tensioner pulley swings down. With the tension released, slip the belt off the pulley Make sure the new belt is the correct one. I was sold an incorrect belt and spent way too long reinstalling trying to figure out why the new belt would continue to squeal intermittently Hint: if you have the old belt in one piece, compare the length and width to the old one. I read some forums that said to replace the tensioner as well if the new belt is squealing. In most instances I don't think this isnecceassary. I think more times than not the new belt is not the correct one and is more than likely too long. Thread the belt over and under the pulleys according to your diagram. Pull down the spring tensioner as above with the 1/4" ratchet to slip the new belt over the tensioner pulley. Make the belt is seated well over and or under the pulleys Double check to see all tools are out of the way. Start the engine to test for any squeals or chirps which could indicate belt slippage.

How do you reset the ABS light on a 2000 S 10 with a 2200?

The ABS light is on because you have a problem with the ABS system. The problem would have to be repaired before the light will go out. After it is repaired the light will clear itself. You can start with attaching a scanning device into the vehicles diagnostic link and reading the trouble codes. This service can be done at many auto parts stores for free if you purchase the parts needed for repair from them.

97 gmc Yukon My question is that your heater in the truck does not push out any air from the vents AND if any air does comes out it is warm not really that hot?

The vacuum tube to the heater control is broken in two or cracked...usually in the engine compartment. It's a black, hard plastic tube or pipe about 3/16" od. Without vacuum, the heater control cannot open and close dampers to direct air flow.

When would it be time to change the timing belt on a 2001 GMC Yukon XL?

TRUCK HAS A CHAIN THAT SHOULD LAST THE LIFE OF THE TRUCK. I don't believe that these engines are equipped with a "timing belt" like some Japanese & European cars, but a conventional timing chain as used by American manufacturers for many years. Timing chains do not need to be periodically replaced as with timing belts, except at engine overhaul which should at 150,000-200,000 miles or greater on today's engines if serviced & maintained properly. GM V-8s have timing chains as far as I know; expect to change around 50 to 70k miles is traditonal wisdom.

How do you replace the front parking light bulbs on a 1994 Ford Probe GT?

The way I did it on my 94 probe gt was to jack the car up about 8 in off the ground, USE some kind of jack stand, and for the left one, just remove the plasic splash guard on the left side to grand somewhat easy access. For the right side, I ended up taking the right front tire off, then partially removing the front bumper on the right side, then I removed the wind shield washer resivor, and while pulling out slightly on the bumper, SQUEEZe your hand in there and with a little skill change the bulb.

1. Remove the screws and pull down on the front portion of the fender liner. This provides just enough room for your hand to reach in and access the two bulb holders.

2. Turn the bulb holder counterclockwise and pull it out of the housing.

3. Pull the bulb from the holder and replace.

** What the book DOESN"T tell you is that it's a whole lot easier if you turn the tires opposite from the side you need to get too. Also, if you have really large4 hands or forearms, you may need to take the tire off altogether.

How do you install a screw drive garage door opener?

Answer 1The answer is too long and complicated for providing here. Also, there are several different brands and models of screw openers, and the procedure, may AND PROBABLY DO vary.

For safety's sake, the best way to learn how to install ANYTHING is to carefully read, understand, AND FOLLOW the MANUFACTURER'S INSTALLATION AND OPERATOR'S MANUAL. Good luck ! j3h

Just to add on...

I rarely recommend for people to install their own garage door opener. It's not that an average person couldn't do it himself/herself, but most people won't follow directions carefully enough to have the opener installed properly. It also isn't too cost efficient to spend an entire day trying to make an opener work.

However if you are insistent on doing this yourself, please read all the directions before hand (not just while you install the unit). Prepare yourself and you will be able to do it. Also, there are instructional videos online. Just search it up and watch through them. If you have any doubts, just call a local company to come out and help.
