That is probably referring to Internet Explorer. IE uses plug-ins, such as Java, to allow it to interact with sites and the functions of the website. If a necessary plug-in is missing you may get that message, and the web site may not function or display things it should.

You didn't mention which plug-in is missing. If it is Java, you could try reinstalling it. I've been successful with that in the past.

There are various add ons to Google Chrome you can use. Such as Blur V5.4.1915 and Adblock.
