Is a Sceptre flat screen TV a quality brand of TV?

Sceptre televisions are among the less expensive brands in the US market. They lack the clever features of the premium brands and the styling of their more expensive competition.

It is unfair to compare them directly to the likes of Sony, Samsung and Panasonic but they are generally regarded as good value for money. They are worth considering if you are looking to buy on a budget. They are likely to be as reliable as most other brands.

Before buying, take a look at them. If you like the image, they are worth considering.

Most modern televisions will offer you a series of connectivity options:

1) 75ohm standard antenna input

2) composite video - RCA jacks (yellow, red, white)

3) component video - RCA jacks (red, green, blue)

4) S-video - DIN connector

5) DVI

6) HDMI

The best connection is HDMI. The worst is 75 ohm coaxial cable. Numbers 1 and 2 on this list are not capable of passing HDTV at all.

What screw size to mount your ermerson 40 inch tv?

Because of liability concerns, most manufacturers do not provide specifications on the size of screws or mounting instructions for their televisions. Virtually all TV wall mounts come with a large assortment of screws to fit all TVs with standard VESA mounts. A 40-inch TV will use a M6 (6mm metric) or M8 (8mm metric) screw. The mount will have these screws in various lengths. When you get the mount, use the longest screw possible that you can tighten by hand to hold the bracket to the back of the TV. Do not over-tighten, as you may damage circuit boards or even the LCD panel itself.

How high do I mount a 50 inch plasma tv on a bedroom wall?

Use a professionally made mounting bracket and a very good handyman or carpenter. These things are HEAVY.

Why can't get any sound as TV is hooked up to a receiver?

Assuming you are connected to the audio output connectors on the TV, you might have to turn up the volume of the TV to get any audio to appear at the output connectors. If it is a high end set, go into the audio menu and switch the audio output to FIXED. This will give you full level audio at the connectors and then turn down the sound from the TV speakers. Don't use the internal speakers when using the sound system.

A flat screen television has a rectangular screen that is 29 inches high and 32 inches wide. What is the surface area of the screen?

Surface area is length times width (or width times length). In this case, 29 times 32 = 928 square inches.

What is an HDMI socket on a TV?

On HDMI TVs, on the rear of the set, you will see a squarish plug in near the AV jacks. The HDMI cord runs from the PS3 straight to the TV without AV jacks. You must go into settings on the system and change the AV usage to HD cable. The cable must have a gold colored tip. The store managers say this is actual gold, creating better imaging for the television. They cost around 40.00 for a decent one, but I have personal experience with the cords, they are not worth it. I'd say it truly effects visual gameplay on 50% of games. Fight Night, Madden 11, but not race games like Need For Speed: Shift.

What is hdcvi?

High Definition Component Video Input (Phillips Corp)

HDMI to component converter will it work?

,

Quick answer to this is NO !!

A converter will ONLY work with unencrypted channels. IE Freeview channels. For encrypted serviced for eg: SKY HD, it will not be compatible with the HDCP (copy protection) signal, which must remain digital.

A HDMI to Component cable will only work with an ANALOGUE HDMI port, and as you can imagine, these are extremely rare.

I work for SKY, and we are currently looking into ways to solve these issues, but at the moment, it's possibly a firmware update (via USB stick) from the manufacturers website, or putting up with a non-hd signal until you upgrade your TV to a truly Hd-Ready (look for the logo!) set.

OR.... you could try to request, or get hold of a Thompson HD box, which was manufactured with component outs. (but is now discontinued. Sky have very limited stock of these, and they are only available in A-Grade (refurb) condition. (which is still excellent ;)

Hope this helps !!

Can you just unhook your satellite dish and hook up your antenna with the same coaxial?

Satellite and terrestrial both use similar co-axial cables so it is probably fine to use a satellite cable for an antenna.

If the cable needs to be extended, be sure to use a suitable 75 Ohm co-axial connector to make the joint. Twisting the conductors together and taping them will cause problems.

What is the difference between PAL and NTSC?

PAL and NTSC are color encoding formats. NTSC is the format used in North America and PAL is used in Europe. Most other countries use one or the other. NTSC is normally used at a frame rate of 29.97Hz with 480 lines used for the image while PAL is normally 25Hz and uses 576 lines. The frame rate and line count are actually independent of the color encoding format used so there are instances where US frame rates and line counts can be used with PAL color encoding and vice versa.

PAL and NTSC are similar formats but not interchangeable. Many modern televisions will now handle PAL and NTSC but that is not always the case.
