That depends on a lot of factors. Presuming you are going to backpack your way to your camping site, you need to take into consideration how much clothes, gear, food, etc. you will need. Generally, you should be good with a 30-40 L bag, presuming you do not bring your whole house along with you. However, if you will use it for longer trips, you will need more room, say a 50-60 L bag.

The main thing you need to look at when you are buying a pack is the fitting, you will carry it or say 7 or more hours, so it must be comfortable. Packs generally come in different lengths. Make sure your pack is the corresponding size to your back. This limits the size of your bag.

Finally, walk around in the store, go up and down steps and ask the sales person for advice. In certain stores, they can put weights in your pack to test out the fit. Your pack will become your best friend, so chose wisely!

Leather rope can be stronger than regular woven ropes, such as jute or flax. But synthetic rope (nylon, polyester) has many more fibers than leather, or any natural fiber, and for the same diameter will be much stronger.

Probably by asking the manufacturer, but if he's no longer in business you might at least find earliest possible date from a history of the company or from a dealer.

I understand that you need a camping permit to stay overnight in most National and State parks. This is so that if you don't come out of the woods when you are supposed to they have an area where to start looking for the body, I mean to save you.

If the tick is not carrying a disease, there is nothing that would put someone's life in danger. If the tick is carrying lime disease or Rocky Mt. Spotted Fever, etc. ; it would need to be treated in a couple of days, the sooner the better.

It depends on what kind of camp and what you will be doing. If it is a camp where they will be teaching rock climbing or another type of sport that requires head protection then they probably supply the necessary safety gear. Usually they will tell you what you need to bring. There is most often a phone number that you can call for the camp if you have any questions. If you have your own helmet for that particular sport then I would say to bring it. If it already fits your head then you don't have to settle for a loose fitting or too tight helmet that can be dangerous. I would call the camp.

Coleman Premium Blend fuel is white gas with supposedly cleaner burning properties. I really don't find a difference in performance in my Whisperlite stove between the regular Coleman furl and the Premium blend fuel. It works quite well in my Whisperlite, so I'd say Yes, you can use it

Well as we all know boys love playstations...but if i were you i would instead buy an action figure(maybe2) so that he's able to create an imagination of what action figures do. Maybe what they do on the game or T.V. or just what they want them to do like fly or jump really far to the other side of the couch. It will give them literature skills by making imagination of things and also of being more creative w/ the mind!

The back country, kind of by definition, was the area that didn't have roads or easy access. You have to hike in, rather than driving or using public transportation.

It depends on the regulations in the national forest you are visiting. Some have established campsites in which you can camp, others have looser restrictions that allow for backcountry camping just about anywhere. Find out before you go at http://www.fs.fed.us/

Getting lost or becoming over-due, possibly benighted. Accident (most likely a fall). Succumbing to cold and exhaustion (for any of several possible reasons).

well i suggest carrying those platypus things that you suck water out of instead of your normal water bottle. Water is really important when your hiking especially when your in a hot climate. make sure you drink enough.
