No, midi sends music information over the midi cable. Information concerning which note you played, for how long, how loud it is played, at which channel, and so on...

So, if your instrument and the computer you're connecting with don't have the same instrument library, the notes, the length, the relative volume and so on will be the same, but it will sound different. Example, you could be playing on a piano, but the sound could be a trumpet.

There are several things it could be. Try these steps before contacting a repair center:

First, check the signal cable to the bass bin. Most domestic bass units are mains powered so the cable is likely to have an RCA connector. Check that it isn't damaged and that it's connected both ends.

Make sure the mains supply is connected and that the speaker is turned on. There is normally an indicator light that will tell you it's running.

Check the amplifier configuration to ensure it is actually sending a signal to the bass output.

If these don't locate the fault, it might be either the amplifier or the speaker driver itself. It might be possible to replace one or both of them with some hand tools. Contact the manufacturer to see if the part is available but it's likely that you will do better to contact a repair center at that point

When referring to bits, we are discussing digital audio. 16 bits is a sampling or playback rate. This is analogous to a film playing back at 16 frames per second versus 8 frames per second. Therefore you have more resolution, or detail.

Update: Actually, the above is not really correct: the number of bits (8, 16, 24...) refer to the sample quantization, the resolution/size of each sample. A sample represents the amplitude of the sound at a given moment, with 8bits you can only represent 256 levels, whereas 16bits gives you 66536 levels, that is better resolution per sample (just like the difference on an image with 256 colors, 8bits, versus 66536 colors, 16bits... or then also 'truecolor'/16Million colors for 24bits).

On the other hand, the sampling rate is measured in hertz and specifies the number of samples per second, with common values being 11, 22, 44 Khz (thousand hertz).

Sample size (bits) and sample rate (hertz) are the two parameters that determine the quality of audio... and the bigger the better.

You can certainly use any subwoofer that has its own amplifier with your surround sound system, if the only signal you send it is the sub line out from the receiver. The power rating of the subwoofer gives you a good indication of the volume balance that you can expect. If you have a 5.1 receiver that is rated at 400 watts total power, your subwoofer should have a power rating of at least half of that for itself.

You can control the treble and bass in JVC surround sound speakers if the surround sound receiver you are using has treble and bass controls available.

DVI is normally a digital video signal although it can also carry analog VGA signals as well. Some monitors and projectors will be able to accept both signals as two separate inputs, others may only accept digital DVI connections.

Connect the coaxial cable output of the VCR to the antenna input of the TV. You may need a 75-ohm to 300-ohm cable adapter. Tune your TV to channel 3 or 4 (depending upon the country), and you should see your VHS in all its 1980's glory.

From my experience, it could be your MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor. Signs and symptoms of a bad MAF are stumbling, rough idle, occasional stalling , etc. It could be that your connector is corroded, the pins have come uncrimped, or the unit itself needs to be cleaned or replaced. Another culprit of stalling in early Q45's could be low ATF.

Subwoofers produce the lowest audio frequencies, resulting in that earth shattering deep bass that you get at the movies. It also improves music. The single best thing you can do to improve the sound system.

In the form factor of a pair of right & left (red and white) "RCA plugs", most desktop computers have Audio Out connections that can be used. Like most cell phones, in both notebook and most desktop computers, you will have a "Headphone jack", This is usually a stereo 3.5mm connector.

If applicable, adapters can be purchased that convert your speaker cables(s) connectors to your computers.

Coax and RCA are usually two different names for exactly the same thing. Phono being another name for the same thing. If it really is two different connectors, a simple adapter from Radio Shack (USA) or Maplin (UK) would connect them.

It varies depending on the country your in, the voltage of the cable and the type of soil. Also if there is anything on the surface above the cable, railway lines for example. Another important thing to remember is that not all 'time-is-money' cable laying crews follow the rules. From experience, they are almost always too shallow. Scary!
