Honda Prelude

The Honda Prelude is a two-door sports coupe produced from 1978 to 2001 by the Japanese automaker Honda. This car during its production run served as a testbed for a number of features that would eventually be commonplace for the rest of the Honda line: examples include double-wishbone suspension, four-wheel steering, fuel injection, VTEC (after the Acura NSX), and ATTS.

Where is the ECM main relay on an 86 Honda prelude?

The main relay is located on the drivers side cab of the car, it is specifically located behind the pull cable for the hood release. it is mounted to the wall and has one electrical connector plugged into it. to remove use your hand to unplug your sensor and then use a 10mm socket to remove the relay from the mounting position. Before assuming your relay is bad check all of its post connections and all of them should sit at 0 when testing at 20 ohms i beleive. mine is currently out and you will notice that the car will not even turn over.

It is called a main relay as it controls the entire cars electrical service and distribution. At some stores it will be listed under "fuel pump relay" but do not be fooled by the people that work in these stores as they have almost no mechanical experience and do not pay more than 85 bucks for this relay, you may be able to find a temporary replacement at a junkyard.

How do you replace the head gasket on a 1985 Honda prelude?

the head gasket in any vehicle is located within the engine compartment. Since it's a 4 cyl engine, there'll be 4 gaskets spaces, although the head gasket is a singular unit. You'll have to "drop the engine", which really means raising it. Then, dismantle, and replace. Pain in the a$$...I had that prob w/ a 91 Ford, and in that particular vehicle, it wasn't worth the effort. I also recommend going into your nearest Honda dealer, specifically to the parts dept., and request to see the SHOP MANUAL for your year of Honda Prelude. Most of the time, they'll let you go through it, and even photocopy any pages you might need, free of charge.-Callie * I did mine without removing the engine, but it's not very much fun. Just make sure you clearly label where all the vacuum hoses, etc. It makes re-assembly a lot easier. Remember, you have to remove all of the old gasket from the head and the block before re-installing everything or it won't seal right. The aluminum scratches very easily so try not to take too much off or put any deep scratches in them. Also, you *have* to use new head bolts and *have* to use a torque wrench. Look in the shop manual and it will show you the order to tighten them in and the torque specs. If you don't follow them you'll have problems down the road after the head gets hot and cold a few times. (And then you'll get to do it again. yay!)

Where is the fuel cutoff switch located on a 2001 Honda Prelude?

You're probably talking about an "inertia switch" - sorry, I'm not sure if anyone besides Ford uses them for sure. Your owner's manual should tell you.
