How do i get old wax off clothes?

First apply ice to the wax to get it to freeze. Scrape off as much of the wax as possible with a butter knife or other blunt instrument. Do this to both sides of the garment, then heat your iron to a low temperature. Set on "dry", do not steam. Place the garment on a flat surface with paper towels on both sides of the stain, and gently heat the garment with the iron. The paper toweling will absorb the warm wax. Do this a couple of times until the towels do not show a stain from the wax any more. Then dampen the stain, apply hand bar soap, and scrub. This should take any wax out of the item.

Uses of neutralisation other than science?

  • In agriculture, as soils often contain acidic solutions and plants usually grow best when the soil is slightly alkaline.

  • In medicine, as your blood has a pH of 7.3 and medicine injections must be exactly the same pH. If someone blood is changed by one pH they would die.

  • In digestion, as the stomach is acidic, pH 1 or 2. If we wanted to neutralise the acidity we could swallow an alkaline substance such as sodium bicarbonate.

  • To neutralise bee stings, as bee stings are acidic and can be neutralised using an alkali such as bicarbonate of soda, which would calm the irritation.

  • To neutralise wasp stings, as wasp stings are alkaline and can be neutralised using an acid such as vinegar, which would calm the irritation.

  • To neutralise waste from factories, as if this acidic solution is not treated and ends up in the river it could kill fish. Slaked lime is often used to neutralise the solution as it is an alkali.

How do pesticides work?

Depends on the type and some work in more than one way. For example boric acid is a stomach poison most bugs ingest when they groom, however, dusts can also clog the spiracles (holes in abdomen they breathe through) or dry out their exoskeletons (dessicants) Organophosphates act on their nervous systems and eventually they freeze (are unable to move) and starve. Contact sprays are simply absorbed through their bodies in most cases. Some insects eat the droppings of adults are are poisoned from adults who ate and passed poison bait, killing more than one generation.

As an organic spray, you can use vinegar and water mixture.

Most of the vinyl floors that are sold currently are called "No Wax Vinyl Floors" this means that the top coating is manufactured so that when you use the floor cleaner suggested it will look as it did when installed- the flooring industry..(like computers) are constantly changing and becoming more user friendly/easy care- Vinyl floors that are not called No wax- need to be stripped and cleaned- then liquid wax applied to give it that wet look-shiny- then normal household traffic will dull the floor- once again having to clean/strip and re-apply wax- to give it shine and slight protection- The manufactures suggestions- The no wax floors now just require a simple mop and no rinse solution- (like mop and glo)- but you should always follow the manufacturers suggestions for care and cleaning of your vinyl flooring- house hold cleaners that are bought at the grocery store like pine sol etc- will ruin the floor and yellow over time- Always use vinyl cleaning products from the manufacturers like Armstrong-Mannington and Congoleum-these types of cleaners will make the floor look great and will look good for a long time- vinly floors need to be cleaned/stripped and polish reapplied for beauty-

How do you get rid of honey bees on the ousde of your house?

Call a bee keeper. Bees are not usually a pest but are valuable for continued preservation of the Earth's survival. Without them we will eventually starve. A bee keeper will capture the queen of the hive and take them to a more acceptable place to live. Extermination will likely do more damage to you than the bees and removal should only be done by someone who knows what they are doing. Bees are only a danger to any person who has an allergy to bee stings and will help your garden to thrive.
