The common rail principle has been used to cut out the noise factor which used to be associated with Diesel engines; the technology has been pioneered by the Fiat group, only to be adopted by other automobile companies around the world.

Like all good things in life, these engines also come at a price; they are at least 25% more costly than the conventional engines. They also require a higher degree of maintenance and spares aren't cheap also.

Sounds like my son encoutered the same problem tonight with his Hyundai 2001 Accent GL - 1.6 llitre. With aplying the brake, pushing the unlock shifter button, the shifter won't move. This happened when he started his car tonight (real cold night -23 Celc.). Is this electical or mechanical related; perhaps a fuse is blown although which one? Any help would be greately appreciated. Thanks your shift lock may be seizing up it is right next to the shifter underneath the console

The engine relay on my 2001 Hyundai Accent 1.6L is under the dash on the driver's side.

The blower motor is under the dash, under the glove compartment. Remove three Phillips screws and the wiring harness and it's out!

Take it to an expirienced mecanic if you do it wrong you will cause serious engine damage.

this computer is located under the dash, left side.

can't miss it, just look under the dash. bolted in with 6mm bolts, use 10mm socket to remove.

Make sure you disconnect battery first if you decide to remove it or replace it.!

Take into consideration that the left side of the car/engine is the drivers side. With that in mind, it's on the left front of the engine, slightly to the left of the exhaust manifold. The sensor is held in place with a 10mm bolt. It's almost impossible to see at first glance. You have to get eye level with the top of the radiator the look towards the engine with a flashlight. I followed the wiring harness to finally find it. I used a deepwell socket with a swivel and 2) 6" extensions to reach it. If only fingers could see because it's a "feel" to get the socket on. Once the sensor retaining bolt is removed just wiggle the sensor and it will come out. Take the clip off the wiring connector and unplug old unit. Make sure the "O" ring comes out as the new sensor comes with a new "O" ring. A tiny screwdriver works fine for that. One last thing, the "O" ring needs to go all the way up to the bottom of the sensor, not just on the shaft.

Yes, and potentially dangerous. Better to have a shop do it if you're not familiar with cars (you'll need a spring compressor if just replacing the shock, but an impact wrench is a must whether your replacing the shock or the whole strut).
