What size screws do cabinet knobs use?
Usually, the new knobs that you purchase will come with screws. In general, the screws are 1 ½-2" screws. Check that this will work for your installation before running out to purchase other screws. Sometimes, the doors and drawers will need a different screw length. If the drawers have faces that are applied as a separate piece, they'll need screws that can pass through 1 ¼"-1 2/3" of wood or substrate. Since doors are usually made of ¾" lumber, a 1" screw will generally work just fine. If you need to, measure that depth of the face where the screw is going to insert. Keep in mind that you also have to check for the diameter of the screw, not just the length. Assume that the fabric is 41" wide for purposes of calculation, and you'll have a maximum of 10% shrinkage in length. (You will need to remove the selvages before sewing the widths together, or the fabric will pucker. I'm going to assume in the calculations below that you want an 18" drop on sides and bottom, and the quilt will reach the top of the mattress, but not go over pillows. Mattress size is 72 wx84l.

Cleaning all nickel hardware is done the same way. First, wash the items with a mild detergent in warm water. Rinse them completely and then dry them with a soft, lint-free cloth. If you have stubborn stains on your satin nickel cabinet hardware, you can combine baking soda with just enough water to create a paste. Then, cover the hardware with the paste and let it dry. Finally, run each cabinet hardware piece under warm water and buff dry with a soft, lint-free cloth. If you are still having problems with stains after using the baking soda, then try a silver cleaning polish. Follow the directions on the packaging to ensure that you don't scratch the metal.
Finally, if the satin nickel cabinet hardware is really heavily stained, you can try giving it a bath! Remove the hardware and place it in a bath with one part ammonia and three parts water. Make sure that the hardware is completely submerged and allow it to soak for half an hour. Then, rinse each cabinet hardware piece with warm water and dry it with a soft cloth.

If the fabric has a repeating pattern or the chair has a skirt you may need as much as 11 yards. Take the pictures with you when you are looking for upholstery fabric and ask for assistance with the yardage.

It probably will do, just try it. You never know unless you try.

Tile, I wouldn't. you can put tile over it if you put backer board over it, or if you have 3/4 inch subfloor underneath and the vinyl is glued well you can use a superflex motor from lowes. but the backerboard is the best choice

Tile is one of the oldest types of finish covering used on pitched roofs. Tile roofing has grown increasingly popular because of its fireproofing qualities. Clay or concrete tile roofing is available in a variety of styles. Clay tile is manufactured by baking plates of molded clay into tile, and is lighter than concrete tile. However, concrete tile is more durable and is used more often than clay tile.

- Step 1 : Install underlayment across the sheathing of the roof. There is a wide selection of asphalt-saturated felt underlayment available, but 30 pound felt is the most commonly used type. Research local building codes to determine what type of underlayment to use. Follow underlayment manufacturer instructions when installing
- Step 2 : Install the metal flashing where needed. Places such as valleys, chimneys, skylights, and where a roof butts against a vertical wall will require metal flashing. The flashing should be a 28-ga corrosion-resistant metal.
- Step 3 : Nail the two-inch thick cant strip flush with the eave of the roof. This strip, which is twice the thickness of the battens, slants the first course of tiles so that it matches the rest of the courses. Every four feet, allow a half-inch to one-inch gap to let water drain across the row of cant strip and the battens, which will be placed across the entire roof.
- Step 4 : Hook a tape measure to the roof eave and measure up the length of the tile being used; make a mark on the underlayment. The tiles will have a one-inch overhang at the eave and the half-inch head lug at the rear of the tile, so minus one-and-a-half inches from the first mark and make a mark on the underlayment. Do this at both ends of the roof and then snap a line with a chalk box. For example, if the tile is 16 inches, the mark will be made 15 inches up from the eave.
- Step 5 : Nail the 1x2 batten below and flush with the snapped line. For the rest of the snapped lines for the battens, minus three-and-a-half inches from the length of the tile being used and snap lines this length across the rest of the roof. For example, if the tile is 16 inches, the marks will be placed every 13 inches up the roof and snapped out for the battens.
- Step 6 : Lie the tile down by working in a left to right direction because of the vertical keyway between the tiles. Vertical interlocking joints must be free of any foreign matter to ensure a proper fit and interlocking of the tiles. The head lug, which is the lip at the rear of the tile, will rest behind each row of battens. The number of tiles to be fastened with nails depends on the roof slope, on whether or not battens were used, and on the anticipated wind velocity in the area. Research local building codes to determine the tile nailing schedule.
How do you turn satin paint into flat paint?
I prefer to paint all walls and ceilings satin. I have no idea why people just automatically think that ceilings have to be flat...or even white. I do satin on the ceilings because of dust, yes dust does stick to the ceilings, esp near AC vents and around ceiling fans. Have you ever tried to sweep your flat white ceiling to get the dust off after a few years? It just smears. I think satin ceilings make small rooms brighter and larger. You must use satin or semi on the ceiling in the bathrooms, a bathroom environment is the one interior space that is actually most like an outdoor space with water splashing, steam, humidity, extreme temp changes, I wonder if it would be best to use exterior paint in the bathroom. For ceilings though I pick a white with a bit of grey and go all satin.
How do you sand and prime furniture made of wood?
If the furniture is painted then you would need approx a 60-80 grit sandpaper, then gradually move to a finer paper. When paint is almost gone finish with about a 320 or 400 grit paper so it is completely smooth. If you want to repaint then you don't need to remove all the paint unless you are painting over an enamel paint with a latex. (oil based vs. water based). You can however prime it with a good primer once the wood is smoothed. Or if you remove all paint you can then stain it. before you paint/stain your wood be sure and remove all dust from the wood with a clean damp cloth. let wood dry and then proceed. good luck and wear a dust mask :-)
