Where did javelin originate from?
Generally at the end of the rope handle that's in the middle of the javelin. You either hold the last part of the rope handle with your index finger and thumb, in such a way that you're holding the edge while throwing to give your grip leverage, or you hold it between your 1st and 2nd fingers (which has a tendency to provide a little more lift - you need to judge if this is good for your technique or not). Old-timers had a 3rd alternative in that they held the rope grip in the middle (vs. on the end/edge).

How has the design of the javelin been changed?
The men's javelin was redesigned in 1984 to shorten the distance it could be thrown. The decision to shorten the jav was made by the International Amateur Athletic Association after East Germany's Uwe Hohn crushed the previous world record of 99.72 m with a throw of 104.80 m. The distances reached by improving athletes were nearing the point where they could no longer be contained in the infield, and thus the decision was made to design the jav to "underperform." By shifting the center of weight forward, the javelin's tip tilts forward and comes down sooner, steepening the arc of flight and thus shortening the throws by about 10%.
How much is a 1971 Javelin AMX worth?
This type car is hard to place a value on. It is really worth what someone is willing to pay. The condition of the vehicle, mileage, equipment, all come into play when placing a value on this car. If it has the 401 Go Package it is worth more than the 360 engine. The interest in AMC products is not as great as other Muscle Pony cars such as the Mustang, Camaro, or Barracuda, but do not sell this car short. Only a little over 2,000 were produced. I suggest you contact an AMC Javelin club or group to get more information. Search Google and you will find a club or group of owners to help you. You have a true muscle car and the value is only going to go up. No book, will give you the true value. It is really what someone is willing to pay.

How far do college javelin throwers throw in ivy league?
If you throw javelin fairly far, and you are a girl on top of that, you are very likely to be recruited for college. The likelihood of achieving a full scholarship, however, for just javelin, is unlikely. I consistently threw in the high 120s in high school, and was recruited by many colleges. I ended up with a 3/4 scholarship to a very prestigious NCAA Division 1 school, but I think the fact that I knew how to throw discus and shot put also helped. If you are a girl and throw javelin, there's a high chance you'll get recruited. There aren't many states that throw javelin in high school, so the pool of colleges is rather large compared to the number of elite high school javelin throwers. My advice to you is to stick with it and focus on becoming better every day. Also, be open to all of the colleges recruiting you and build good relationships with each no matter what division they are. Some D3 programs are better than some at the D1 level and sometimes they can offer more "financial aid." Good luck!

Why is javelin throw unpopular?
I wouldn't say that the javelin throw is unpopular. It is a sport that is very difficult to master and not very many people can become good at it. It is a sport, in the United States at least, that doesn't get much attention because of all the other sports that are played here. And that might be the reason other countries do not pay much attention to javelin. They are watching football and tennis and cricket more than they are watching javelin.

Time to reach the top of the arc = (25/9.8) seconds.
Time to return to the height from which it was launched = another (25/9.8) seconds.
Time to fall the additional 1.5 meters:
D = V0 t + 1/2 g t2
1.5 = (25) t + 4.9 t2
4.9 t2 + 25 t - 1.5 = 0
t = (1/9.8) [ -25 +/- sqrt(625 + 6 x 4.9) ] = (1/9.8) [ -25 +/- sqrt(654.4) ] = 0.0593 sec
Total time = (50/9.8) + (0.0593) = 5.695 seconds.
