The fuse box should be just inside the door on the lower left hand side of the steering wheel. Your left shin should touch it when driving. You'll need a key to pop the cover off. There is another fuse box inside the engine over the left front tire in a black box.

Open the hood and on the left side (passenger) you will see a round black cap towards the front of the car along the sidewall. It is to the right of the windshield washer's fluid reservoir. Remove the cap and fill to between the minimum and maximum line stamped on the outside of the reservoir. Make sure you fill to between these two lines. There is also a dipstick built into the cap. Make sure you have the fluid in the crosshatched section of the dipstick. Replace the round black cap. If you are having to fill up the power steering reservoir often (more than once every year or two) you probably have a leak. Look for fluid on the engine's serpentine belt as the Power steering pressure line is routed directly above the serpentine belt on its way to the rack and pinion steering unit at the rear of the engine bay. This results in the serpentine belt having p/s oil on it and the p/s pulley will often slip, making it feel as if your power steering pump is bad. These pressure lines often leak at the first crimping connection directly above the power steering pump's pulley wheel. The entire line has to be replaced (consumer's price at the dealer is approximately $140). Most backyard mechanics can replace this line (2 connections - one at each end & 2 clamps) without much problem, although it is a bit tricky to snake it back along the firewall. Two people make it an easy install. This will save about another $130 or so to have the dealer install it. Make sure you use a flare nut wrench at the steering rack end, as the nuts used in most fluid line connections are softer than the boss that they are screwed into to ensure a leak-free connection. Use a funnel to fill the [power steering reservoir to the correct level, then turn the engine on and continue to slowly fill to the correct level. Have a second person turn the steering wheel to full left then full right about 8 - 10 times to "bleed" the air out of the system. Check for leaks at both ends of the power steering pressure line. Using a pressure car wash hose to rinse all of the p/s fluid from the serpentine belt and engine will stop it from slipping, as the fluid had tended to splay all over the side of the engine and engine bay.

Mine does the same thing. I'm having my battery checked today. Someone told me that may be what the problem is.

The manufacture Recommends every 60K. You should at the very least inspect it every 60K and expect to replace the water pump at the same time. They will usually go out soon after the new belt is put on. If the belt breaks you will be buying a new engine or rebuilding your current one.

I am not sure what question you are asking, but if you are asking why you are always having to change the brake light on your Kia Optima...

I own a 2007 Kia Optima, and before that I owned a 2005 Kia Rio. In the YEAR that I owned the Rio, I changed the brake light four times. Since I have owned the Optima, about 18 months, I have changed the rear light 3 times and the headlight once. (actually, I never changed the lights. Jiffy Lube or Grease Monkey changed them for a nominal fee, usually around $5, because I don't think a rocket scientist with both an engineering degree and training from NASA could figure out how to change that high-riding son-of-a-bitch tail light.)

But I digress...

Hopefully that will answer both questions, because if you are asking what the procedure for changing the light is, obviously I have no idea, other than to advise you to take you car to Jiffy-Lube. Good Luck.

Just in case Kia has you roped into their "Customer's for Life" program, the Kia dealership will also happily replace any head or tail lights for you during your $45 oil change for around $20. No, I'm not kidding.

you gotta take off the interior piece on the ends of the backrest. at the bottom you'll find a 12mm bolt holding it on. you might have to take off the rear panel as well. 3 bolts on top, two on the bottom. use a spring compressor to remove the spring. you can rent one for free at some parts stores. get a haynes or chiltons!

its not surgery just take the fuel lines off the filter take loose the bolts. put the new one on make sure you look and see which one says in and out. it should be located a few inches away from the back tire.

It is a bit of a hassle. The entire "package tray" must be removed. This means the the lower back seat must be removed to gain access to the side strips of the package tray that extend down towards the floor board. The whole thing lifts out with the speaker grills still attached. Most Optima's used 6.5" round speakers in the rear deck, some used 6" x 9". In July 2009 my local Best Buy automotive installation center charged $70. to swap in new speakers for my Optima. It took the pro about 20 minutes. Id allow 45 minutes to an hour if I attempted it. On the intake manifold near the firewall. AutoZone part number PCV1171. It is all steel construction, about 2 inches long, and screws into the manifold. The rubber hose that slips onto it needs to be changed as well if it is less than "like new".

You mean the egr valve? Rios have precise timing with lower compression no need for an egr vale.

What you described sounds like alternator noise coming through the stereo. Make sure your stereo is properly grounded. (check for continuity between the vehicle chassis and the stero ground) You may have to install a noise filter to clear it. They are typically installed on either the power lead for the head unit, amp, or on the RCA lines feeding the amp (if you use one). Go to somewhere reputable like Crutchfield and search for "noise filter" and you'll see what I mean. Typically less than $20 and can make a huge difference.

Depends what year. The 00-04 Optima/Sonata 2.4 liter 4 cylinder has 2 rubber timing belts and is what is called a "interference" engine. Anyway, the belts are the weak link and they fail at 70-100 thousand miles. To change them at 60,000 (recomended mileage) it will set you back 800.00. Now what car now days costs 800.00 for a 60,000 mile maintenence interval????????? Anyway if you dont, you have a paperweight with kia badges. So in an honest answer the Mazda with its Ford derived engines (both 2.5 and 3.0) is the way to go. The 05 Optimas and Sonatas have a chain like every other timing system in the world, which leads me to believe Kia and Hyundai learned their lesson through warranty concerns. Funny their engine warranty is at 60,000 ;)

It's more than likely your front brakes and the sound is reverberating thru the car look at the rotors on front and feel them and see if they are ruff and grooved if so you need to do a brake job as for the warning light that will not come on unless it's low on fluid or the abs senses a problem.
