How do you replace crank sensor on 2002 Kia Optima?
The crankshaft position sensor is located under the lower timing belt cover, behind the timing belt on the forward section of the motor. To access it you must remove the power steering pump, timing covers, waetr pump pulley, and crank pulley. Then the timing belt.
The cable is fastened to the timing back-up plate behind the power steering pump. It connects on the left side of the fuel rail behind the head at the top.
One thing to know is that you will have to keep your cams aligned when you remove timing belt, also you have to have all the components lined up before you remove timing belt, very very important. to keep cams aligned i used two socket wrenches with a block of wood between them for that. This is a pretty tough job so make sure you know what your doing.

Check engine light on in 2005 Kia Optima?
I just had this problem and took it to my local kia dealer. They found that the fuel filter needed changed. Perhaps this is the problem with yours but before you pay more money than you need to I'd advise you change it yourself and save 100 or so dollars it's simple to do. If your kia is still under warranty take it and and get it diagnosed. Hope this helps.

How do you program rear view mirror garage door opener on 2012 Kia Optima?
Programming the 2012 Kia Optima HomeLink Garage Door Remote for Genie PowerMax 1500 Model 4062 Opener
NOTE: After several days of frustration, calling HomeLink, searching the Internet, and finally calling Genie, I got lucky! The tech said, "Oh, I had this problem with another customer JUST this morning! Your new Genie remote (Model G3T) may not work with your Kia Optima HomeLink." Great. He asked me to remove the visor clip from the G3T, and check the Rev. number: D:0213 SW:2.0.3. "That remote won't work, but I'll send you one that will "unlock" the Kia HomeLink, so you can then program it with your new remote. And he did. The old remote is Model GITR-3. It comes with a battery.
1. Make sure there is a fresh battery in your NEW (G3T) Genie Intellicode garage door opener remote. This ensures accurate transmission of the radio frequency. Make sure the Intellicode 1 button of your NEW (G3T) remote opens your garage door. (Page 14 of the manual - it is the THIRD button from the top of the remote.) If it doesn't, program it to do so.
2. Unplug your garage door opener (the motor head) to prevent unwanted opening and closing of the door. It's best to park your car OUTSIDE the garage so you can get to the opener using a sturdy stepladder.
3. Turn the Kia Optima ignition on to the Accessory (Amber) setting inside the vehicle (one press of the start button while your foot is OFF the brake pedal).
4. Press and hold the two outer HomeLink buttons on the mirror inside your vehicle. Release them when the HomeLink indicator begins to blink. This clears any previous codes.
(If you DON'T have this model & rev. of G3T remote, then simply use the G3T remote to perform the programming.)
5. Place the OLD (GITR-3) Genie Intellicode garage door opener remote 1 to 3 inches from the HomeLink surface over your head.
6. Press and hold the desired HomeLink button and the old Genie remote button simultaneously. Allow the HomeLink indicator to flash slowly and then rapidly. Keep the buttons pressed until this happens. (It didn't take more than 10 seconds.)
- - - - - -
7. Now switch to the NEW (G3T) remote. Press the Intellicode 1 button on the Genie remote (page 14 of the manual - it is the THIRD button from the top of the remote) and the desired HomeLink button on the mirror simultaneously. When the indicator light on the mirror blinks rapidly for two seconds and then turns solid when you press the button (again, it took less than 10 seconds), your programming of the HomeLink is compete.
8. Because the Genie Intellicode garage door opener remote has a rolling code security system, a further step will be required when the indicator light flashes rapidly for two seconds and then turns solid.
9. Plug the opener back in and press the Learn button on the garage door motor. Within 30 seconds, return to the vehicle and press and hold the HomeLink button you trained in Step 7 for two seconds. Repeat the press, hold and release sequence up to three times. It worked on the 3rd press!
Good luck. I would guess this is NOT a generally known fix at Genie. I just lucked out to get the one guy who had seen it that very day.

Where is the fuel pump located for a kia optima 2001 show picture?
02/05/2011
The fuel pump is actually at the top of the tank. I recently have done this repair myself and you DO NOT have to drop the tank. The fuel pump can be accessed by lowering the back of the back seat. You will see a black panel behind this in the trunk . Use a screwdriver to open the panel and you will see the pump. remove the two hoses and 6 screws to remove it.
What can you do to fix a PO171 code?
Before you go and buy the O2 sensor, like everybody does, get a hose of a least to feet in length, put it against your ear, and the other end, towards the engine, start listening for a hissing sound from the engine, which means there is a vacuum leak, either, from the gasket in your intake manifold, or somewhere on the side of your engine where cylinder one is located., Since the code is related to that side of your engine.
Check all vacuum hoses for cracks and make sure they are secured in place.
Low fuel pressure or a restricted fuel filter can also cause that code to pop up. Have the fuel pressure and flow checked also.
