How do you change the map light on a Kia Sedona?
The entire overhead console unit clips into a socket. The entire overhead console unit must be pulled down from the ceiling of the car. There is a single phillips-head screw towards the windshield that attaches the console to the ceiling. Once this screw is removed, use a small pry bar to pull down on the console on the opposite end. The console is held in with two or more metal clips that will disengage when you pull down with the pry bar. When I did this the other week, I was afraid I would break the console by pulling too hard, but it un-clipped an came right down. You will see the light bulbs clipped into the sockets. The sockets must be retracted from the console, then the light bulbs can be replaced. Do not squeeze the bulbs too forcefully, or they may shatter between your fingers!! Installation is the reverse of the above procedure.
How do you change the alternater on a 2002 Kia Sedona?
Disconnect the battery and wait for at least 30 minutes for the airbag system to go offline. (I actually think it takes less time, but better safe than sorry).
Simpler, less costly method than the original below:
1. Disconnect the battery.
2. Do not mess with the A/C connections this method has enough flexibility to maneuver the alternator without disturbing the connections too much.
3. Remove air intake housing, air hose, air filter housing, battery, and battery carrier. 4. Disconnect upper coolant hose bracket from the engine and it push up on top of the engine.
5. No need to disconnect the the A/C coolant lines. Just remove the brackets that mount them to the car body opposite the alternator. This will give you flexibility to move the radiator and mounting bolts.
6. Remove each of the fan housings; it is a tight fit to get them out. This should give you sufficient space to work on the alternator itself and remove it.
7. loosen the tension pulley, the one toward the firewall, no need to remove it but no big deal. Then loosen the bolt below it to help put the belt back on later.
8. Remove the alternator, disconnect the electrical and remove the mounting bracket that mounts to the engine. The long bolt on the bottom does not come all the way out but you can still remove the alternator with it wedged in the hole. Remember to put this one in first when you reinstall the new on;
9. Work the alternator carefully around the front of the engine and remove from the right side.
10. Installation is the reverse of these instructions.
Should take about 3-4 hours depending on how difficult it is to remove the fans (Recommend a nut driver with a flexible extension, especially for the bottom left bolt).
Disconnect the sensor and horns.
Remove the front, top support (the one above the radiator).
Remove the air conditioning system components in front of the radiator and alternator and cap them.
Drain the cooling system and remove the radiator.
Remove the alternator.
Reassemble with new alternator. (Add compressor oil to AC system and use new seals. Refill cooling system.)
Have AC system evacuated and recharged by a service professional.
(Optional but recommended) Drive to the nearest auto lot and trade the Sedona in for something not made by Kia or Hyundai... {;o)

How do you fix a jammed seat belt on a Kia Sedona?
I have yet to read a good solution to this seemingly frequent problem with the back seat seat belt on many KIAs.
We have a 2007 KIA Rondo and the backseat middle seat belt has gotten stuck several times already. The first time we took it to the dealer, this time we (my wife and I) took it apart ourselves. My wife is very mechanically inclined and she was able to take the right side panel off the retractor
(the locking mechanism) first. Then you can see the small black release lever inside (you might have to search a little until you find it). Once you push back the release lever (be careful because it is small and plastic and
easily broken) the belt will disengage and you can pull it freely. In our situation, once I put everything back together, the seat belt was working properly again. I left the side panel off the retractor
just in case we have to do this again in the future.
Hope this helps someone out.
Why is the key stuck in the ignition switch in the ACC position?
if your pushing in the button to release the key the tumblers in ignition switch bad If you have an A/T, the shift linkage might be off alittle not letting the shifter go all the way into park. Your wheel lock could be keeping the key from turning. If your tires are turned, turn them further from straight while turning the key. I had the same problem and this fixed it.
The trim around the entire console can be pulled out by hand - CAREFULLY so you don't break the plastic clips that hold it in. Just pry it out at the bottom with your fingers, and work your way around until the whole thing pops out. Once you get the trim section loose, all of the controls except for the radio should come out with it, and you'll have enough room to access the plugs behind your A/C controls, as well as the cigarette lighter and the electric socket. When you're finished, press the whole thing back into place. Hope that helps.
