disconnect the negative battery cable, as your looking at the motor from the front, the driver's side will be on the right. remove the top cover of the engine,6 10 mm bolts. you will see 2 almost identical plugs one on top of the other, one will have a notation or same part code as your new one ,ck sensor is crank sensor and cam sensor is a diff number. if you follow the wire from the cam sensor it will lead to just under the upper black plastic timing cover which has 2 0r 3 ten mm bolts,once you remove those you can wiggle that cover off and see the cam sensor behind the timing belt. you should be able to remove the two ten mm bolts holding it in and replace the sensor, good luck.I am not as fortunate ,I had to replace the crank sensor which was more extensive as it is behind the lower timing cover and one bolt is behind the hydraulic belt tensionerpulley and had to be released and move out of the way successfully without removing the radiator or timing belt.

The crank sensor is behind the lower timing cover just above the center of the harmonic balancer.You must move the ac pulley the power steering pulley,the water pump pulleythe upper timing cover,the lower timing cover and you will follow the pig tail (wire) of the ck sensor to it's resting place on top of a brass looking blade just above the harmonic balancer.Two bolts which are 10mm hold it in place. you might have trouble getting the left one out,as it is behind the hydraulic timing belt tensioner and you don't want to take that off.I depressed the piston on the hydrolic tensioner enogh to move the pulley and belt just slightly enough to access that left bolt and then fished it out very slowly.Good luck. Don't forget to disconnect the battery before starting the job and you might have to get some radiator hoses out of the way and put some drain pans under to catch it,watch out for bees they might be attracted to the coolant and watch out for animals as it is harmful to them filter and recycle coolant.

Steps:
- Open the hood of your SUV.
- Behind the battery on the drivers side is a plastic covered connector labeled Diagnostics.
- Open the plastic cover on the Diagnostics port by pulling up on the edge near the FRONT of the vehicle.
- Get your prepped/stripped jumper wire and place one end in connector 6 as shown in the pictures.
- Run the other end of the jumper wire to the POSITIVE terminal on your battery, you can just push it into the little opening on there so it stays in place for a few minutes.
- Get into your vehicle with your key fobs.
- Put one key into your ignition and turn to ON position, DO NOT start your vehicle.
- If you just have ONE key fob to reprogram, when you turn the vehicle to ON, hold the LOCK button down for 3 seconds, the lights on the dash will go off, and you are done. Turn the key off, disconnect the wire, and try the key fob.
- If you have TWO key fobs to reprogram, turn the key to ON, hold the first LOCK button for 1 second, then the second one for 1 second. Turn the key off after the lights on the dash go off and remove the jumper wire. Test both Key Fobs.
