If you strongly believe that you were dismissed without just cause, you should contact your union office and file a grievence. Your union rep will set up a meeting with the company's senior management, Human Resources and yourself to discuss the terms of your dismissal. If you were let go before your probationary period concluded (typically 90 days in any new position) or a serious offense such as theft, vandalism, etc. - you may just be spinning your wheels. At the end of the day, you may end up with your job back - and all the evil stares that come with it from your managers. It may be a better choice just to move on and have your union hall help place you in a new company.

If a collective bargaining unit does not negotiate a contract that you agree with, you can vote not to accept it. If it is voted down, depending on your unions constitution, they could go back to negotiations, you could go on strike, or some will go to arbitration. If you are unhappy with negotiations' results, you could try to run for a position in your local union and be on the next negotiation committee.

The critics have blamed the labor unions because they have forced companies to raise the workers wages so much, that the companies can not afford to keep as many workers as they usually be able too. soon, the companies may be forced to move their companies out of the U.S.

I don't really know. I thought of getting ideas from this site but there is none. I guess we will see the foreign workers influx into the country as negative if we ourselves are not ready to compete and are hoping to get paid highly for any substandard work that we do. So, we keep blaming the foreign workers as the sole reason of our unemployment as many employers like to employ the foreigners more the locals as locals are seen fussy, choosing and demanding.

Then again, the fact that the foreign labourers are deemed cheaper as they could be trained and are less likely to be on leave due to personal or family problems and commitments, gives room to the employers to exploit the situatiuon and choose the foreigners over the locals due to their availbility in the job market.

Thus, I personally feel though foreign workers should not entirely have negative implications but rather positive implications both to the foreigners themselves and the hosting counter part; however, human greed has caused ill effects on both sides. Therefore, the influx MUST be limited.
