Laboratory Testing

Before a doctor can diagnose a patient, laboratory tests such as blood work are required.

Does hgh show on a urine test?

No. In fact, it's really hard to find it on a blood test. This is why HGH is the most popular drug in baseball--because, essentially, you can't test for it.

Does bentonite work for drug tests?

I've been drinking Bentonite Detox that I got from the Whole Foods store in my city because I have a drug test approaching. I was told by someone on Federal probation that it helps take out fat-soluble toxins such as Marijuana. She uses Bentonite all the time and has never failed one of her Federal UA's. Hopefully I have the same luck!

P.S. It's 4:20 right now

What could cause upper arm pain after having blood taken?

I don't know the answer. But I had blood work taken this morning and am having the same thing happen. I've never experienced it before but I do know that the tech put the needle pretty deep and my arm was immediately sore afterwards and the upper arm pain started about 30 minutes later. could be either the needle was too deep, or they hit one of the valves in the vein.

Why platelet count is low?

This is because the leukaemic cells in the bone marrow take over at the expense of the cells which produce platelets (megakaryocytes). They also affect the production of red blood cells (erythrocytes) leading to anaemia. The first signs of Acute Myeloid Leukaemia in the blood are a low platelet count and a degree of anaemia along with abnormally immature white blood cells from the granulocyte (myeloid) line. The white blood count is not necessarily high.

What causes blood and protein in urine?

I have passed protein 'stone' in my urine. What might cause protein to pass in the urine?

Dr. says i have protein in my urine does that mean i have a stone or cancer.

Proteinuria describes a condition in which urine contains an abnormal amount of protein. Proteins are the building blocks for all body parts, including muscles, bones, hair, and nails. Proteins in your blood also perform a number of important functions. They protect you from infection, help your blood clot, and keep the right amount of fluid circulating throughout your body.

As blood passes through healthy kidneys, they filter the waste products out and leave in the things the body needs, like proteins. Most proteins are too big to pass through the kidneys' filters into the urine unless the kidneys are damaged. The main protein that is most likely to appear in urine is albumin. Proteins from the blood can escape into the urine when the filters of the kidney, called glomeruli, are damaged. Sometimes the term albuminuria is used when a urine test detects albumin specifically. Albumin's function in the body includes retention of fluid in the blood. It acts like a sponge, soaking up fluid from body tissues.

Inflammation in the glomeruli is called '''glomerulonephritis, or simply nephritis. Many diseases can cause this inflammation, which leads to proteinuria. Additional processes that can damage the glomeruli and cause proteinuria include diabetes, hypertension, and other forms of kidney diseases.'''

Protein in the urine is also called proteinuria. This is often discovered on a blood test when a patient desires to donate blood or plasma or has lab work done.

You drink too much water before your drug test and fail because of that can you retake?

As far as I can tell no you can't but that all depends on who the drug is for. When you drink too much water they think you tried to cheat by diluting the urine so they test some other stuff to make sure it wasn't. Sometimes doing this will show it's ok but still drinking all that water could hurt those other elements being tested too. So pretty much if you drank too much water prior to the test and fail, you fail because it looked like you tried to give an altered sample not that you had too much water. Most places and almost all jobs won't let you retake it.

I'm not 100% sure on this though. I went through the same thing and just did some quick research online and learned this.

Can the lab tell if a drug test is male or female urine?

Age can not be tested using urine. There is a rumor that approximate age can be detected in urine, and is tested in medical insurance exams. It's a myth.

Gender cannot be tested either. As with age, there is a rumor that gender can be detected in urine, and is tested in medical insurance exams. It's another myth. It may be argued that a pregnancy test can be used to detect the gender of the urine provider, but the same test is used to detect prostate cancer in males.

If a Mother is B positive blood group and a Father is B positive blood group can they have a child that is AB positive blood group?

Actually, yes. The father may be heterogeneous type B - that is, he has a recessive gene for type O along with his dominant gene for type B - and both parents may be heterogeneous for the Rh trait, where being Rh positive is dominant. Since the mother is homogeneous for the O type, there's a 50% chance that she will produce a child with type O blood when her partner also carries one O gene. Assuming both parents are heterogeneous for the Rh trait, each child they produce has a 25% chance of being Rh negative. Since half those Rh negative children would have blood type B, this means that about 12.5% of the time these particular parents would produce a child with O- blood.

Why is it that sometimes when bones are x-rayed they appear as white images?

Bones always appear as white images in regular xrays. However they arent really white because the film is clear, the plastic on the view box is white. But on xray film it is coated with a metalic layer. The xrays make the metalic layer stick to the film. So the black part of the film is where all the xrays reach the film. If the area on the xray is gray, then that means that some of the xrays are getting through implying that the structure is more dense than the black part. Soft tissue appears gray. The bone is a very dense structure allowing minimal to no xrays getting through. The film is then put through the processor and the film runs through chemicals that make the picture "stay" on the film. It is then rinsed and dried. Since the xrays make the metalic layer stick, none stick to the area of the bone because no radiation got through and the layer was washed off during processing. This is why bones appear white, they are the densest structure.

Will hydrocodone show up in a drug test?

Hydrocodone is a semi-synthetic opioid found in brand name medications like Vicodin, Norco, Lortab, and Lorcet. Hydrocodone is always combined with another drug, typically acetaminophen which is found in the examples listed above.

Hydrocodone is not an opiate and will not be detected on an opiate test. Opiates only refer to naturally occurring opiate alkaloids, primarily morphine and codeine. However heroin will also be detected in an opiate drug test because it turns into morphine.

A specific test is required to detect semi-synthetic opioid's like hydrocodone and oxycodone or synthetic opioids like methadone or Demerol (pethidine).

So if hydrocodone is tested for (and it is not routinely tested for) it will be positive for hydrocodone.

Yes, infections can cause low or elevated white blood cells. Viral infections often cause low white blood cell counts. Also, very serious bacterial infections that overwhelm the immune system can cause it as well.

Can you fail a drug screen if your urine is clear?

No, in fact clear urine is usually treated as suspicious and an indicator that you are deliberately trying to cheat the test.

It's possible that "Clear Pee" is a brand name of some product that purports to help you pass drug tests, but I couldn't find it under that name in the (admittedly brief) search I did. If so, I still rather doubt it.

What will Darvocet show up as on urine test?

"Darvon" (Propoxyphene) WILL show up on a 10-screen drug test, but not the 5-screen. You should find out what type of test you are being administered. http://www.collegegrad.com/jobsearch/New-Job-Preparation/Drug-Testing-And-Other-Possible-Conditions-Of-Employment/

How far back can a urine or blood test Test for alcohol?

It depends on the drug in question, the particular metabolism of the user, and whether they're an occasional or chronic user. Some drugs clear below the detection threshold in a few hours, others can be detected for weeks.

There can be other factors as well; for example, some (legal) over-the-counter medications can affect drug retention times (usually making them longer, so don't go getting ideas).

Does yogi detox tea help you pass a drug test?

yes, it has helped me in the pass. just stop drinking it at least 24 hours before the test to make sure toxins arent still trying to get out when you pee for your test.
