Begin by removing the rear engine cover from your 1997 Land Rover Discovery. Remove the crankshaft sensor wiring harness. Remove the crankshaft sensor retaining bolts. Reverse the process to install your new crankshaft sensor.

yes Dewalt tools are better than Pitsburgh tools. Dewalt was supposed to be an industrial grade tool. Pittsburgh is a generic cheep (low grade) tool for the average home owner.

I wouldn't, unless you want to reck your fuel injectors It is recommended you only use premium grade petrol.

It is located in a radiator hose, on a Petrol this is on the left side of the fan when looking at the engine.

The CD changer is under the passenger seat. There should be a cover at the bottom of the front side of the seat. Open that and you should see the changer.

What can i say, the land rovers have pros and cons, mine is a 2000 land rover discovery and i installed a 2003 engine, transmission, transfer case, wiring harness and computer. it is still a gas guzzler but it depends what you use it for. It comes very expensive if you don't know and have to take it to the dealer and believe me, even by fixing in my own comes a little pricey because the parts ai'nt cheap.They are expensive vehicles but good working machines.

Yes ALL Fuel injected Land Rovers REQUIRE unleaded premium gas. The best fuel to use is NON ETHANOL 90 OCTANE FUEL witch is available at most MARATHON gas stations. By the way you have a series 2 not a series 11 those are roman numerals not ones.

That one is abit like asking how long is a piece of string?. I assume this is a V&8 and not a diesel First are you running the right grade of fuel? Discos need high grade fuel - at least 91 pump octane - and using regular unleaded can trigger the SES light. It ususlly takes a couple fo tanks of the good stuff for the light to go out. The light can also be triggered by a loose fuel cap so check that though I woudln't expect it to cause rough running Bad igintion leads is another candidate and the only way to check this is to replace them and see if things get better. Depending on the car's milage you may want to consider a new set of plugs as well. Now if none of these is the cause then you probaly need a trip to a shop that knows about Land Rovers - it doesn't need to be a dealer as there are plenty of independent specialist shops who know what they are doing but they should be L-R specialists and not just any local garage. They will plug in the scanner and pull the codes which will lhelp them diagnose the problem. Some possible causes include low fuel pressure, a bad mass air flow meter, dirty/sticking injectors, and a host of other possibilities

unfortunately toe only way to top up/re-fill the auto-trasmission on a disco 300tdi is through the dipstick tube, can be a long drawn out process as you have to wait for the fluid to go down before continueing filling.

You have to go to your Land Rover dealer for these wiper blades. No aftermarkets available.

Under the carpet and padding in the rear cargo compartment is a circular metal plate. Remove screws and plate. This reveals the fuel pump. Disconnect the two pressure connections for fuel, beware these will drop fuel. Disconnect two electronic connectors and EGR breather tube. The ring that holds the fuel pump to the fuel tank is metal and twists off counter-clockwise, however, there is a special tool from LR to remove it properly. I was able to remove it with a hammer and flat head, do so at your own risk. When removing, mind the floater arm. Reinstallation is the reverse. Also, when replacing the pump, it is recommended you replace the filter as well, this is located on the frame rail to the front of the passenger rear wheel well.

If you can remove the fan first it makes it easier, you need to know how to use a fan spanner. Otherwise you still can do it, you need a long 15mm spanner to release the tention on the belt by the tensioner, then you can remove and replace the belt.

It depends on the climate. If you are in a temperate zone like the United States then Castrol Magnatec 5W-30 (ACEA A1/B1) is by far the best grade to use. It's more expensive than regular mineral oil but will provide better protection during the critical start up period (When most damage can occur due to lack of lubrication) When you change the oil make sure you also change the Oil Filter and if it's been 12,000 miles since the Centrifugal Rotor was changed then change that as well.
