How do you replace third brake light on Lexus ls430?

The third brake light is accessed from the top. Push the third brake light housing about 1/2" to the left, toward the passenger-side, and then lift up on it to release it from the rear package shelf. The wiring has enough slack that you can pull the housing out enough to work with it. Then give the bulb housing a quarter-turn counter-clockwise and pull it out of the housing. The bulb pulls straight out of its housing. The correct replacement bulb type is a 7443 which is the same bulb used for the stop, turn, and tail lights.

How do you replace the headlight bulb in a 1998 Lexus LS400?

I searched online and could not find any service manuals or help for replacing the headlight bulbs on my 1998 Lexus LS400. I just kept trying things and think I have it figured out.

I'm working on the driver side - so I had to remove the battery. For the highbeam, you need to hold down the tab and pull the electical connection straight back. They twist the tan colored cover to the right until it stops, then carefully pull back. There is another electrical connector inside. Remove than, then twist the bulb to the right and pull it out.

For the low beam (again with the batter removed), you'll be working around the windshield fluid filler tube. Twist that tan colored cap to the right until it stops, then pull back and off (no electical connections yet). Next, you'll need to remove a metal cover by pressing tabs on both sides - it should fall off. Then grab the electibal connector and carefully twist right until it stops, then pull back. The bulb should remain, held in place by two retaining wires. Push those down and in towards the bulb. I had to work those wires off as I pulled the bulb straight back and out.

BTW - the bulbs listed for purchase on AutoZone for my low beam weren't right. I'm now searching for the correct bulbs.

How do you reset 2005 Lexus ls 430 brake wear warning light?

The short answer is: You don't. Very simply, this is just a wire, encased in a small piece of plastic, designed to "ground out" on the disc once the brakes wear to a specific place. Once grounded, it will stay grounded. The Lexus solution is to replace the sensors, one each, on the front and rear passenger-side tires. Expect to pay from $25 to $50 each for these...or---

Here's what I did. Not recommending it to you, but it works. Snipped the wire, stripped the ends and wrapped them together, then soldered them, covered with heat-shrink tubing, and used a small plastic tie to get it out of the way. Someone commented "I'm a big boy, and know when to check on the wear of my brakes." Amen to that. With that done, the computer says "No problem with brake wear". and the light goes out. It is not "reset". It is taken out of action. If I feel like spending the money to replace the sensors later, well, that's a piece of cake to do.

What can cause a 1990 Lexus LS400 not to start?

Bad starter... Bad Alternator... Bad battery... maybe a fuse.

How do you replace the headlight bulb in a 1991 Lexus LS400?

On my 95 LS400 left low beam it was necessary to first remove a circular plastic cover. Just depress a tab and it will come off. Next the electrical connector is encased in a rubber sleeve-gently pull the sleeve back from the connector and disconnect the connector from the light . The old light is held in place by a spring under tension --- release the tension on the spring by lifting it from a small slot and the old bulb comes out easily. Be careful not to touch the new halogen bulb with your fingers.

How do you fix the stop lights of a 92 Lexus LS400 if the 2 attached to the body do not light up when you step on the brake but the two on the trunk are working and you replaced all the bulbs.?

Need more information. Do the tailight bulbs light up, just not the brake lights? What about the turn signals? If so you might have the incorrect bulbs installed. If the tailights, turn signal and brake lights are out you have something disconnected. There are three bulbs on each side of the body part of the car. The top and bottom bulbs are dual bulbs (1157) while the middle bulb has one filament. It is probably the lamp failure sensor. It is located in the trunk on the driver side just behind the backseat. It is a small black box with a white connector connected in it. You shorted out the circuit board in the sensor. I repaired mine myself.

How do you turn off the brake wear light on a Lexus ls400?

Replace the worn brake pads. If that has been done, then the warning lamp needs to be reset ... best leave that to an authorized dealer. On a 1998 LS400 (perhaps all other years too), there is a "closed-circuit" wire that is clipped onto the brake pads. It is located and designed in such a way that when there is plenty of pad left, the closed-circuit wire is simply left alone. However, when the pad wears down close to its end, this wire ends up touching the spinning rotor, thus becoming an "open-circuit" and then trips the computer, telling you that you need brake service. This wire, when new pads are inserted, now returns to a closed circuit because it is not touching the rotor. BUT, if you either 1. wait too long to change pads while the warning light is on, or 2. have had multiple brake jobs, THEN this wire will end up rubbing against the rotor and thus break / wear through. With a broken wire, the brake light will remain on, unless you either solder a new piece of similar gauge wire to replace the missing piece, OR purchase a new sensor assembly. I did a simple solder, and it works perfectly, and didn't cost me any $. ALSO, before trying this method, try disconnecting the battery for a minute or two. I don't recall for sure, but it may be possible that the brake light will turn off with this battery reset. If the light still stays on, then try checking the sensor wires on the front wheels. Don't forget it's a good idea to always disconnect the battery before doing any work; especially when performing this type of repair / soldering. I hope this helps you.
