Why is my Lincoln ls keeps on overheating?

The most common reason for The Lincoln LS over-heating problem:

if it is warmer outside compared to what you have you temperature in your car set at the antifreeze fluids have no where to go so it floods your dagos bottle which in terms have a switch that tells your car it is overheating. you can take it to a mechanic so that if you have your car in the cooling mode they can put another reservoir on the engine to catch the excess antifreeze. it may be expensive but this will fix it.

Why is your Lincoln LS 2000 steering column not working?

If you mean the CONTROLS on the steering column (audio and cruise control buttons) are not working, there is a module buried deep within the steering column that allows the wiring from these controls (as well as the airbag) to maintain their connections to the vehicle circuitry even while the steering wheel is turning. It is called a "clockspring", and it's a bear to replace. Runs $350-500 at the dealer. This problem is very common to the LS.

Where is the computer module on the 2005 Lincoln LS?

Lincoln ls computer moduleit is suppose to be on the kick panel of the passanger side but i am not sure if it is the door or underneath the dash

The PCM (powertrain control module) is located behind the glove box. If removing you need to disconnect the negative cable for the battery first. You have to remove the glove box to get to the retaining strap bolts on the inside and you have to remove the cabin air filter and box to get to the three main cable connectors in the engine bay. To remove the cabin air filter box you have to remove the windshield wipers and cowling plastic and the firwall cross brace. You can access the factory manuals for instructions for a fee at www.helminc.com

How do you get in the trunk of a Lincoln LS when battery is dead?

Having done this twice, I can tell you exactly what to do:

Open your hood and open the fuse box on the left side (passenger side) of your engine. There you will find several unused tabs that are positive side. You can use the cable of your choice, but being in a hurry I took an extension cord and cut both ends and stripped 2 wires. Take one end and connect it to a battery (in another car). The other end, take the negative side and screw it under one of the screws holding down the fender right where it would meet the hood on the left side. You will be left with one wire, the positive, which you can then touch to the open tab in your fusebox.

At the SAME TIME, HOLD Down, do not tap but HOLD DOWN the button that opens your trunk on your Fob. It will open and you can then change or charge your battery. Good luck. dan at countyone dot com

What is the cost of an automatic transmission for a 2002 Lincoln LS?

If you are having problems with tranny shifting, bucking, and acting funny have a good transmission shop change the fluid and make sure they know how to do it correctly. There is a certain sequence that must be done not as simple as empty old and put in new. I was having mine done at a dealer and I was having all kinds of problems and I took it to a different tranny shop and he quoted $1800.00 to rebuild. I was told to take it to another tranny shop where the guy knows what he is talking about and he said just change the fluid. He did this 6 months ago and have not had 1 problem since. He told me even new cars are having this problem because people do not follow the correct procedure where the tranny has to be at a certain temp and must be in gear and there has to be a certain drip which will tell when it is full correctly

Where can you find a belt diagram for a Lincoln LS?

AnswerGet a chiltons manual for your car (found at any auto parts store & some gas stations), look in the belts and hoses section or the index, there will be a diagram that will show you how to properly install the belt.

Chilton manuals are not the right manual to get!! Your better off with a workshop manual instead. cost about double the price as a Chilton but it will give you the correct information about the car. BEWARE:CHILTON MANUALS SUCK!! wrong information is given in their book which will cause allot of stress!!

Update: There should be a diagram on a sticker underneath the hood.

Unfortunately neither Chilton's nor Has makes a manual for a Lincoln LS. No company makes a book for it. The one that the auto parts stores tell you their computer calls for is for a Town Car which is no relation to the LS.

The LS has a Jaguar Engine and Transmission (3.9L V8 Jaguar), maybe you can find something related to the LS from a Jaguar book, but it won't be completely specific.

Rockauto.com has a diagram if you click on the Gates belt "info" button. There is a tool available to assist in rotating auto belt tensioner and costs about 20 bucks. May be worth the investment unless you like bloody knuckles. Gonna change mine soon and will update if I have more to add.

20" rims look good depending on the style, not the size. Other effects of putting rims on your car is poor ride quality and more stress on the transmission and brakes. The heavy weight of rimes always has negative effects on cars that were not made specifically for them.
