What would cause a 1989 Pontiac Tempest to hesitate and stall?

My son has a 1989 Pontiac Bonneville LE with a 3.8 Liter engine with Air Conditioning. He was experiencing stalling while driving, and intermittent problems restarting the vehicle unless he waited for a while. He also had problems restarting the car after about 10 mins. If it ran, the car would run fine (i.e. no hestiation or jerkiness). This did not appear to exhibit any attitudinal, acceleration or turning issues that would bring it on. The 'Service Engine Soon' light would come on intermittently, but no noteable engine noises or performance while driving. Our mechanic was able to get the Code read, which was "34 - Mass Airflow Sensor". They changed it out and he no longer has the problems. Note that we had the charging system checked out a couple of days before we finally brought the car to our shop, but it was OK. I hope this helps you!

How do you replace front rotors on a 1998 Lincoln Navigator?

I have a 1999...so I assume it will be the same. You will need a metric 19 and a TORX socket. There are 2 metric "19" bolts to unscrew. Then you have 2 TORX screws that hold the calipers to undo. The caliper will be stubborn. Just work it to the side and it will release. Now take the dust cap off. Take out the cotter pin and take off the nut. Slide the rotor off, being careful not to drop the wheel bearings on the ground. You should probably replace the bearings as well. Do the reverse to put it back to together.

What a butthead. I have the same issue with my Lincoln Continental. Here is a link I found informative, and hope it will be a help in diagnosing and repairing. Otherwise, buy a Hanes or Chilton manual, or take it to the dealer and cry when you get the repair bill.

How do you change a serpentine belt on a 1999 Lincoln Navigator?

It is actually pretty easy... You need a Serpentine Belt Tool that can be borrowed from a local auto parts store... (Discount Auto lent me mine)... Use the tool on the tensioner to loosen up the belt for removal. (The tensioner is in the center of all your pulleys about mid vehicle) {Mine has a identification diagram on panel above radiator} Once loose enough the belt should slide forward and completely off. Just put the new one on in reverse order {Mine shows a diagram of path on panel above radiator}. And your done!
