It all depends on if you live in a community with an HOA. If you do have a Homeowner's Association, you will have to submit plans for your fence to make sure it's approved. Also, some communities have rules on the types of fences allowed... wood vs cyclone for example. Before you put up any fence, you need to contact your city hall first.
