The speed of a computer depends on many factors such as processor speed, amount of memory available, hard disc access speed etc. so it is impossible to measure the speed of an operating system without reference to the hardware. If Windows 7 is running on a Mac, and speed is a consideration, Windows 7 will run faster when booted natively rather than running it virtually on top of Mac OS X although the latter is perfectly adequate for most purposes.

You can also find used Macs on eBay (though prices are not much lower than retail there).

I think the $1200 20" iMac (from http://www.amazon.com/Apple-Desktop-Display-MB323LL-SuperDrive/dp/B000X3GTMM/ ) however is a better value, since it's an all-in-one including a large screen.

Well technically speaking, unless you own a Mac of some sort then you are not legally able to put OS X on your desktop. If you are looking for an alternative to Windows, as your post would imply, I would recommend checking out several Linux Distros to see what you like. There are quite a few and most are pretty decent. Check out www.distrowatch.com for some reviews. Personally, I like Ubuntu and it's variants. I also was a big fan of Linux Mint. If you are looking for something similar to OS X then G OS may be a good choice. Good luck.

This is not a complete answer but maybe it will help some of you. I went to the Microsoft site and downloaded the latest update for this keyboard and it is compatible with Mac Os 10.2x-10.4x excluding (10.0-10.1). So it doesn't say 10.5 is supported however I installed Leopard and the update to 10.5.1 and it works, sort of. Most of the time it works fine however sometimes my keys don't respond this has happened in Entourage, Word 2004 and a couple of other programs. Usually just switching from one application to another and back will fix the problem or restarting the program at worst. So there you have it the keyboard works 99% of the time.

You cannot without erasing your hard drive and installing Mac OS 9 from scratch. Even then Mac OS 9 may not run on modern Mac hardware because Mac OS 9 needs the ROM chip to boot. Modern Mac OS X hardware uses EFI to boot the system instead of a ROM chip to boot. Mac OS X v10.0 - Mac OS X v10.4 support Mac OS 9 applications and can run them, you just need to install the Mac OS 9 compatibility program which can be found on the Mac OS X Install CD.

A) Open System Preferences from the Apple menu

Click on Accounts.

Unlock your own log-in account name.

Select the "Allow user to administer this computer" checkbox.

Start up from the Installation Disk. This should allow you to alter your user profiles. Make sure your Mac Firewall is turned on. Add the Safari Extension Web Of Trust (WOT) to warn you of malicious web sites. Make sure you approve of the installation of all downloads and make sure the download goes to the download folder. If you install Security software which I personally feel is unnecessary and do not run myself on my Mac be sure and use a good one such as Avast which is not a resource hog.

When I go to wake the MacBook, I open the machine and make sure that I don't plug anything into the machine before I wake it. I've continued this process under Mac OS X Leopard and have had no further trouble with waking from sleep. It has been done, however it is really hard. I have not done it myself though. I would recommend searching youtube for videos or just the internet on how to do this.

Mac OS X Snow Leopard runs only on Mac computers with Intel processors.

ChromeBooks have ARM processors. Completely different instruction set and architecture!

The Mighty Mouse and Magic Mouse both support right click.

On a Mac most "control" type instructions are replaced by the Command (cmd) key next to the Space Bar. So Ctrl F becomes Cmd F. In the Safari browser, for example, this will open a small search box at the top of the page. Using the Alt key (next to the Cmd key) and the Cmd and F keys will jump you back to the Google search box. In most Mac software Cmd F will open some form of search option and can usually be accessed from the Find menu item which is often to be found in the Edit menu.

The Mac operating system is only designed to run only on computers made by Apple (and for a little while in the 1990s, a few licensed clone makers). Recent versions of Mac OS X (the current Mac OS) can be modified ("hacked") to run on other PC hardware, but it still needs to be substantially similar to the hardware in a current Apple iMac, MacBook, Mac Pro, or Mac Mini, and there may be components that don't work properly (such as everything working, but not the wireless networking). Windows games are so called because they require the Windows operating system to work. Snow Leopard is the latest version of Apple's Macintosh operating system known as Mac OS X. It is not Windows and so Windows software, games or otherwise, will not work with it.

A Mac with an Intel processor can have the Windows operating system installed on it and can then run Windows software. Alternatively software such as Wine or Crossover (See links below) provide an environment where Windows software can be used without having Windows installed but this can be rather hit and miss and will not work with all Windows software.

Some people have found the D-Link DSB V100 video capture device works on a Mac with the USBVision software. (See links below)

The Print Artist Platinum software will only work with the Windows operating system it will not work on a Mac with the Mac OS X operating system.

Maybe bootcamp or you could use wine.(don't know if either will work. I haven't tested it)

According to their Web site all you need is a web browser and Adobe Flash/Reader. It seems it's web based so there doesn't look like any software to install.
