What is crank and slotted quick return mechanism?

A crank and slotted quick return mechanism is a mechanism that has a slotted lever attached to another lever and a wheel. These types of mechanism are frequently found in shaping machines.

How does' the MOD II stirling engine work?

Variable dead-space chambers that decreased in size with the throttle request. More throttle = less dead-space allowed in the engine. Other than that, it operated like any alpha-design stirling engine. See the link below for more information on the exact design.

Where are electromagnetic clutches used and why?

They normal clutch mechanism but driven by electromagnetic solinoid coils. They are used where the motors are to be engaged and disengaged during running, with out stopping the operation.

Can you give me Technical description of an iPod?

How can you measure temperature using thermopaper?

Paper Thermometer Thermopaper is used to measure the maximum temperature that a surface has reached. From the manufacturer's website, paperthermometer.com, the directions are:

  1. Affix Thermopaper on a clean surface.
  2. Heat/run through procedure that is being tested.
  3. The gray/white temperature sensitive element will turn to black if the surface has reached the rated temperature.

If your car moves over a wide closed loop of wire embedded in a road urface is the magnetic field on the earth within the loop?

yes the perpendicular component of earths magnetic field passes through the loop even if the car is moving above it or not , but no current is induced in the loop since it is not moving

Why hemispherical head for pressure vessel?

Hemispherical head is the strongest of all heads. Therefore it is used.

After welding SS316 how to release the stress?

You can fasten your fabrication to something that won't flex easily, like an I-beam. When the welding is done wrap the whole thing up in Kao-wool, which is a type of insulating material, and let it cool down SLOWLY. This keeps stresses to a minimum and helps to keep your fabrication from warping. It is very difficult to keep stainless from warping, but it can be minimized. I've been on jobs (refinery, nukes) where the pipe fabrication had heating elements attached to it, brought up to just below the welding temperature, wrapped in Kao-wool, and the temperature decreased in a controlled fashion over a specific period of time ie: 80 degrees per hour. This data was recorded and made part of quality control package.

Why do magnets stick to stainless revolvers?

This has got to do with the amount of Chrome in the alloy used to make the revolver.

With a lot of chrome in the alloy, the bonds between chrome and iron would not allow for magnetic interaction.

Most stainless steel is magnetic though if one just applies a strong enough magnetic force.

How is the toilet paper dispenser a wheel and axle?

because when you take some paper towels of from it.it goes like a circle and like a wheel too

Is a mechanical engineer involved in theory practice or both?

I believe the professional mechanical engineer is involved more within the theory and design, where the mechanical engineering technologist is more involved in the practice. However, I am not an engineer and this is a personal opinion based on the design of such programs of study.

What is the cut out temp on a steam boiler?

Ships have been around since the Phoenicians started their trade empires around the Mediterranean. Probably before.

When reducing the diameter of a stainless steel bar does it effect the mechanical properties?

The reduction of the diameter of a stainless steel bar by hot or cold work will usually increase the strength and lower the elongation. However after the normal annealing the mechanical properties will be about the same as before it was reduced in diameter. If the reduction is by machining, the properties will remain the same unless it is overheated.

What is the differences between parallel connection and serial connection in water pumps?

Parallel and series connections differ in their connection to the feed line. In parallel, each pump is fed directly from the feed line. This means that the water going into each of the pumps is at exactly the same state and the pumps may be analyzed individually. In series, the water is fed through one pump, then the exit line from that pump leads to inlet of the next and so on.

What determines the setup for a specific application is the desired property of water at the exit. Two pumps in parallel connection can produce a higher flow rate. Two pumps in serial connection can produce a higher pressure.

How do you get rid of KP?

IVe had KP (keterolis perlias) since I was 5, and just this year I've started doing this and it cleared up in a little over 3 days. I bought some generic baby oil and some cetaphil gentle skin cleanser for all skin types body wash and in the shower I pump a little cetaphil into my hand and mid it with the baby oil and rub it on the affected area and let it sit for a minute or two then rinse. when I get out of the shower I put on some more baby oil but don't wash it off this time. at night I put vaseline on affected area (my arms) and wear a long sleeve shirt so the Vaseline doesn't get on my sheets.
