What would cause a Water leak under dash on 1984 380sl Not the windshield or ac?
Could be that your heater core is leaking. Also common through firewall....especially where the hinges for the hood mount. I had the same problem with a 450 SLC and after many tries inside the car and many wrong fixings I discover one day that the car din't leave any water in the floor,so I thought it was plug ,but not ,it was a crack on the plastic box that cover the evaporator core ,I sealed it and problem gone.
What problems could cause a Mercedes 560SL to start intermittently?
I'm going to try to answer this question, even though you didn't offer a lot of information. If the car starts up cold all the time, but you have problems after its been running for a while, it may be a small valve next to the fuel pump and fuel filter underneath the car. When you ask the parts guy at MB, he'll know exactly what it is...it's a typical service item. You might want to check the last time you replaced the fuel filter too. And check the gas cap...make sure its seal is intact...these systems run on pressure... Does the engine crank with enough power? If not, check your battery. If the battery is good, check your alternator's output...these alternator's are putting out about 75 watts. Have you checked your fuel lines? You might want to buy a good fuel/carb cleaner to add to your gas tank....it will help get rid of any water that might have accumulated. A good test for water in the tank is poor performance while passing another car, or when you drive up hill...the car will feel like its running on 4 cylinders. When the car is hard starting, look at the exhaust when it finally starts. If you see a bunch of heavy black smoke coming out of the exhaust...you might have a fuel distributor problem too...and that's going to cost. Those are basic checks....if the above doesn't fit your problems...you'll need to get a tech involved. Did you happen to notice all that plumbing underneath the air cleaner? There are about 4 valves that regulate fuel...a slide control, cold start valve, etc. it could be one of those too.
How do you remove the front seat of a 1980 Cadillac Coupe DeVille if the motor is broken?
The first thing you should do is loosen the four nuts bolting the seat to the car. Then you can tilt the seat back and disconnect the wire harness from the motor, and finally manuever the seat out of the car. Installation is the reverse.
What is the fuel pump pressure for a 1978 Mercedes 450 sl?
The reference chart that I have says "75-84 psi". The footnote states that this pressure is "injection pump pressure" and I would guess that the measurement should be taken prior to the fuel line splitting off to the injectors. This is the same value as the 77 and 76 450SL. Prior to this, the value is given at 30 psi (for years 72 - 75). I believe that in 76, M-Benz moved to a different ignition system that may have necessitated the increase in pressure....but that's just a guess.
Where can you find the starter on a 1987 Mercedes 560 sel?
Its on the right side, where the engine and transmission join.
How often do you need to change the transmission fluid on a 1998 Mercedes Benz 500sl?
The book says one thing, every MB mechanic says another. More late model MB's need trans repairs than just about any other one item on these cars. Every 50,000 miles is when you should service the trans. I think MB suggests something like 100,000 miles...WRONG! These are sophisticated units now with 5 and 6 speed trans'. There's more going on inside than you can imagine. If you can service these transmissions every 35,000 miles...do it...that's once every 3 years. My brother works for MB, and I have a 2002 SL500 and I recently had the trans serviced...it makes a big difference. And do yourself a favor...only have factory MB techs work on the trans....they know better, besides, they have to sync it up to their computer, which most independent do not have because of the expense...otherwise, you're only getting 1/2 the job.
Where is a 1986 Mercedes-Benz 560SL overload relay located?

If you're asking if there's a specific light that comes on the instrument panel when you turn your headlights on, the answer is no. The instrument lights will come on, as will certain other instruments such as the gear idicator, heater/ac panel, radio, etc. as you already know I believe on the 89 models, there are a cluster of idiot lights beneath the instrument cluster. One of those lights will come on if you burn out a headlamp or other exterior bulb. Basically, it senses too much juice in the system instead of powering a bulb...sort of works opposite of some car alarms that sense a drop in voltage when a door is opened, setting off the alarm. I recall years ago when a few Italian cars would have a "lights on" indicator light, but they found out they were useless, especially when that little bulb kept burning out. This was long before LED's. I hope this answers your question, and it's been helpful. Where is the fuse box for a 1992 Mercedes sl 500?
There are TWO fuse boxes in the vehicle. The main unit containing most of the engine and lighting fuses is located in front of the driver under the hood. There is a black plastic cover that can be removed easily and without tools. Under the back side of the cover is a list that shows the designations.
THe second fuse box is in the trunk. IT is located against the back wall on the passenger side - and contains 6 or 7 fuses. These control the window lifters, the soft top and a few other things described in the cover for it.
Where can you find the Wiring diagram for a 1989 Mercedes 560 sel seat?
I discovered that you can sign up for a 1 year subscription to an official Mercedes Benz service site called EPC NET (http://epc.startekinfo.com/epc/) which allows you to feed in your VIN number and get wiring diagrams, exploded views, parts lists, etc. on your car. It's not a shop manual but it clarified a lot of "how's this put together" questions on my '78 450SLC and may help anyone else trying to fix an MB.
Where is the oil filter located in a 1995 Mercedes SL500?
the oil filter cartridge is situated on the right hand side of the engine, towards the center of the motor. It's an aluminum cylinder with a hex bolt on the bottom. It is not a bare, typical looking oil filter, and you won't find anything that resembles one. Remember, this car takes a cartridge, not a screw on filter. The oil filter kit, which you should buy at a MB dealer, or foreign car part dealer usually comes with a large "O" ring, and a couple of copper washers. Make sure to clean the cartridge housing with solvent or carb cleaner. And, check the residue...you want to see if there are any metal shavings or anything that looks suspect. To drain the oil, I believe you will need a 13mm hex wrench (allen wrench). Do not over tighten this bolt since its threaded into an aluminum oil pan. You do not want to strip this bolt for obvious reasons. And remember...these engines hold about 8.5 qts of oil with filter exchange....not the typical 5qts most American cars hold. DO NOT PUT CHEAP OIL IN THIS ENGINE. If you have under 60,000 miles on it, you might want to consider a synthetic oil. Otherwise, use a brand name multi-grade. The extra cost is worth it.
How many horsepower does the engine in the 2013 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class have?

Light coming on the dash mean on a 1986 500sl?
there are a bunch of lights all over the dash on a '86 SL. Does this light come on near the fuel gauge? Is it an oxygen sensor light? Does this light come on the bottom of the instrument cluster? Is this light RED? There are several warning lights on the bottom row...emergency brake light, brake wear warning light, brake fluid reservoir warning light,ABS warning light....? You really need to be more specific as to the location and appearance of this light. If you have your owner's manual handy, take a look at that. If you don't have one, I suggest you order one from MB. They come in very handy.
How do you disable alarm in Mercedes-benz 300E 1986?
There is a panel in front of the front passenger's floor almost at right angles with the floor. Remove the screw holding the panel in place. Remove the panel. There is a rectangular (5 3/4" x 3 1/4") control unit held down with two nuts. This control unit has two connections. One controls the blinking lights and horn and the other the timer for the blinking lights and horn. You will need to unscrew the two nuts, pull up the control unit away from the floor, and unplug both connections.
Where can you get repair manuals for a 1985 Mercedes 280sl imported?
worldcat.org I have a Euro 107 body too...and certainly that manual isn't common...especially in English! However, most MB repair manuals come in several parts anyway. The body/chassis, etc. is identical to the US 107 body cars of the period....and the engine virtually the same as most of the 280 6 cyl used in any number of US models. Also, when you hear the "we can't work on those weird Euros....they pieced together...."...point out: The car you have is actually the one the way it was engineered. The way it was intended. The US version was pieced together taking parts from other cars to satisfy the big number and cylinder desire of the US consumer. (In Europe, anyone actually wanting those features would have simply bought the 500SL...a great car (outperforms all the other 107)...with an engine they didn't bring here!) They can work on a US 280C, or 280SEL...right?
Where is the turn flasher on a 1975 450 sl mercedes-benz?
I believe it is under the (norrmally) wood piece on the center council.
Watchout! Important part of wiring cluster and a number of things don't work if the wires (I believe there are 8) for it get loose or messed up.
How do you install Mercedes 500sl soft top?
I'm not sure I understand this question. How do you install a MB 500sl soft top? Are you asking how to replace an existing soft top? Are you talking about a European 107 model or a later 129 model MB? The later 500sl's, made until 2002...if you have to ask this question, you won't be able to install, what I presume to be a new, replacement canvas top. You need to go to an upholsterer...you have to buy the top, and then pay for them to install it. This is pretty much an all day event and can cost anywhere from $750.00 to $2,000.00 at the dealers...avoid the dealers...they just send them out to local upholstery shops and mark up the cost. Or, if you just want to take the hard top off, and use the convertible top..remove the hard top and pop up the boot cover. Now, if you''re talking about a 2003 and later 500sl...and you can't find the soft top, that's because there isn't one...all there is back there is a fold down hard top that fits into the trunk.
