If you are sure that you can replace weatherstripping on your car by yourself without going to a professional, the first step you should do is to remove the old weatherstripping which can be pulled off with a pliers or vise-grip. Grab an end of the weatherstripping and pull up. Once you start to get the weatherstripping to come up, fold the piece over the strip you're pulling on, creating a U shape, and continue to firmly, slowly pull off the weatherstripping. Use a flat-head screwdriver and flat putty knife to scrap off excess weatherstripping and adhesive. Then you have to measure the length of weatherstripping you need to outline all of the door frames and trunk. Buy weatherstripping and weatherstripping adhesive from an auto repair store. Cut the proper-sized lengths of weatherstripping for each area. Read the directions completely on the weatherstripping adhesive. Apply weatherstripping adhesive to the area where you're going to lay the weatherstripping. Start laying the weatherstripping and press the weatherstripping firmly into the adhesive. Make sure the entire length of weatherstripping seats well into the adhesive. Let it set for the required time on the adhesive bottle, then close the doors and trunk onto the weatherstripping to seal it completely.

This is a manual procedure. You need the top tool that came with the car, which is usually found in the tool kit or manual pack.. 1. Flip the visors down to reveal the two locking nuts...use the top tool to unlock the top. 2. Behind the driver's seat, on the left side of the back well, there is a small handle. Push the handle towards the rear of the car as far as it will go. You'll see the convertible cover pop up ( horseshoe shaped). Pull this cover all the way up to a 90 degree angle. 3. Take the front of the top and push it up and towards the rear of the car...the top will start to fold into the boot. Make sure the entire canvas top is in the boot before you close the cover..

Yes, the hardtops for the SL R129 were the same for years. A 1998 would fit if you found one.

remove bolts at both end of each slide rails, then slide everything to the rear about 1 inch, this will release the dogs for the vertical adjuster. now seat will come out, as you remove seat be sure to unplug seat belt warning

put it on the top of one of those big lorries that deliver vehicles. then drive under a low bridge.

unless MB has changed their policy...you have to visit an MB dealer with proof that you own the car and your driver's license...and of course the radio or s/n to the radio. It's much like asking for a spare key.

They usually make you fill out a simple form with all the info before they release codes or keys. However, if you can find a car radio shop with experience with MB radios, they might be able to help you.

This is a free service at MB...at least it was a few years ago when I needed their services. In any event, you're probably not that happy with the limitations of these factory radios. Everyone I know has replaced these expensive dinosaurs with digital upgrades which offer better sound quality, and all the modern features that are becoming a neccessity these days. There's nothing like a new digital tuner with a couple of hundred watt amps and some poly 3 way speakers...I love my JBL's.

I suggest you check out a local radio store and check some of these units out if you can...you'll be hooked. Remember, if you do decide to up-grade, hold on to the factory radio...keep it with the car. Its good for the re-sale.

I assume you want to remove the hard top on the car, and use the soft top which is hidden under the horse shoe cover.... You will need 2 people to remove this top, unless you have a block and tackle set up, which I assume you don't. You need the "tool", which you should have either in the glove box or in the trunk, with the jack or tool kit. If you can't find this tool, you can use a large, flat blade screwdriver. Lower the visors...you will see a round chrome nut with a square slot in it. Place the tool in the slot, and move the nut outwards. There are two of these, one under each visor. The top will move upwards just a little. That's good. Then, on the inboard left hand panel behind your driver's seat, you'll see a small crank handle. Push that handle towards the rear of the car. You'll hear the latch move. There are two more chrome nuts, inside, just in front of the side window pillar. Use the tool and turn those bolts left. Once again, the top will lift up a little. This is good. Then, before you remove the top, on the right side, opposite of the crank, you'll find a little flap with two snaps covering a thick black wire. Open the flap and unplug the wire from it's holder and replace the flap, and re-snap. Here's the tricky part...get another guy...99% of the girls can't help you here...get the other guy on the other side of the car. The roof is aluminum and doesn't weigh that much, but its bulky and hard to handle. Lift the top directly straight up, at least 6" over the body. Once you have the top up, both of you walk straight backwards towards the rear of the car. Be careful to keep the top up, there's a 3" pin under the rear of the roof and can make a big mess if you hit the paint with it. Take the top all the way back and carefully lay it on the ground. That''s it. Pop that handle all the way back, which should pop open the horse shoe cover revealing the soft top underneath. Pull up on the soft top, then pull forward. Move the handle and small chrome lever to the forward position. Put the horse shoe back down, and let it lock down. Then put the top's pin into the hole in the center of the horse shoe. Then move the top down on the front holes. Use the tool to lock the front of the top down. Then, pull the crank in the rear forward to lock down the rear part of the top.... YOU'RE DONE.

What color is the first aid kit? Why in the hell would anyone care in the first place? Well, it should be black with white writing on it. You can actually buy one from your MB dealer. What does the "check engine light" means when it comes on? That's a tough one...it usually means that you're low on oil or water, or your alternator is not producing enough voltage to the system. If the light goes away at higher RPM's, that would most likely be the alternator. Check the battery and cables, and the alternator itself...check the belt and listen for a grinding noise while the engine is at an idle. Consult your owner's manual. A 320 sl? Hmmm...I know 300sl's and 350 sl's...I'm not familiar with 320's. Pop the hood, and you should be able to access the bulb through the rear. There might be a plastic shroud over the unit that is easily removed. If you have halogen bulbs, you should replace both sides at the same time, and halogen bulbs are usually sold in pairs...get the Sylvania White Star bulbs...they're so much better...more lighting...worth the extra few dollars too. And remember, never handle the bulbs with your hands...use a paper towel to avoid getting hand oils on them...the excessive heat from the bulb boils the oil and breaks the bulbs.

To replace the thermostat find the coolant elbow, it will be a rounded "L" shape towards the front of the vehicle. this will have two bolts attaching it to the block. Remove these two bolts and carefully pry off the elbow. Note how the thermostat sits in the elbow. scrape any excess gasket and be sure not to gouge the metal surface while doing so. install new gasket and thermostat, install elbow and two bolts and tighten (make sure not to over tighten).add coolant as needed to reservoir and run with radiator cap off for 10 - 15 minutes. shut the vehicle off and re-install cap.

Obviously the positive one....which is best found by being the one that DOESN'T end at a ground point. the easiest solution to that is to start from the starter. the LARGEST (presumibly black) wire from the starter to the battery terminal is the GROUND. that would make the other terminal the positive.

Pull the primary hood release near the left side kick panel of the driver's seat. The secondary release is inside the center Mercedes Star on the grill of the car. Took 3 others and me to finally find the secondary release the other day.
