1,777 miles taking this route:

1. Take IL-97 SOUTH, from Havana, to IL-4, outside of Springfield; turn right onto IL-4 SOUTH.
2. Take IL-4 SOUTH to I-55 SOUTH to ST. LOUIS, via I-72 EAST.
3. Take I-55 SOUTH to I-44 WEST to TULSA, via I-270 WEST to bypass ST. LOUIS, MO (EXIT 20B off I-55 in ILLINOIS to get onto I-270 WEST ; EXIT 5B off I-270 in MISSOURI to get onto I-44 WEST to TULSA).
4. Take I-44 WEST to I-40 WEST to AMARILLO, via the CREEK TURNPIKE to bypass TULSA, OKLAHOMA and via the KILPATRICK TURNPIKE to bypass OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLAHOMA and connect to I-40 WEST. Please remember that I-44 in Oklahoma from the Missouri border to Oklahoma City is a TURNPIKE.
5. Take I-40 WEST to U.S. 93 NORTH to LAS VEGAS off EXIT 48 in ARIZONA.
6. Take U.S. 93 NORTH, across the Hoover Dam into NEVADA, where U.S. 93 and U.S. 95 pair with I-515 NORTH towards LAS VEGAS.
7. Take I-515 NORTH into Las Vegas.

Although Nevada has mountains reaching over 13,000 feet or 3,900 metres, it does not have any true glaciers today. Wheeler Peak, its highest mountain at 13,065 feet or 3,982 metres, has a number of rock glaciers formed from alpine permafrost.

The lower limit of discontinuous permafrost in Nevada is around 10,500 feet or 3,200 metres, and the permanent snow line would generally be around 14,000 feet or 4,200 metres, though it would decrease from southeast to northwest. (For a comparison, the permanent snowline on Humphrey's Peak in Arizona is probably around 16,000 feet or 4,900 metres but in the northern Sierra Nevada of California it is only around 10,000 feet or 3,050 metres). The average for all of Nevada would be higher than at most mountains in the temperate zone because of the aridity of Nevada's climate, and the calculated permanent snowline in Arizona and New Mexico (corresponding to southern Nevada) is indeed higher than at the equator.
