How do you get dealer licens in NJ?

One thing I believe a little unique in NJ...to get a dealers lisc. you must own/lease a property that is zoned & qualified for selling vehicles. To some degree, the lisc. comes with it. I have heard of some car lots that basically work like a group antique dealer...where you rent a portion of the lot from the primary and essentially run your own business from there...(search in some of the trade papers and business ops section of paper)...I gather you either work under the primary lisc or it qualifies for you to get your own.

What year and month were the Newark riots?

The 1967 Newark riot lasted from 12 to 17 July and resulted in the loss of 26 lives and millions of dollars worth of property damage. Newark would experience an exodus from the city that would require decades to cure. The 1,500 arrests made during that time did little to help community relations.

Where did Newark New Jersey get its name?

Newark was founded in 1666 by Connecticut Puritans led by Robert Treat from the New Haven Colony. The New Haven colonists had been forced out of power for sheltering the judges who had fled to Connecticut after sentencing Charles I of England to death.[citation needed] They sought to establish a colony with strict church rules similar to the one they had established in Milford, Connecticut. Treat wanted to name the community "Milford." Another settler Abraham Pierson said the community reflecting the new task at hand should be named "New Ark" or "New Work." The name was shortened to Newark. Newark is short for "New Work" - Cioned by settlers from Milford, Ct.

Some of these settlers wanted to name the place "Milford" aftre their home town.

Some very old maps also show two names for the area "Newark" and "Milford".

Newark obviously stuck - "Milford" did not.
