The fuel filter is part of the fuel pump assembly that is inside the fuel tank. The filter itself is not a serviceable item.

The knock sensor on a 1998 Nissan Quest is also located under intake manifold and yes alot of work but can be done in a day. 120 dollar part and 500 labor at garage but for u at home mechanics just a simple side project.

There are at least 3 bulbs in the 1999 Nissan Quest. You must open up the dash (instructions provided elsewhere on this site for that - it starts with the center panel....) to get to them. The likelihood that all went bad together is very remote.

First, beware of the type fluid used, especially if the tranny is still under warranty. That said, this is easy. On the front side (toward the radiator/front of van) of the transmission (which is the driver side half of the engine/tranny "unit"), at the very bottom, is a large plug with an allen wrench inset. As I recall, I used a 10mm allen wrench. Have your pan ready, as it comes out full force, and will start flowing before the plug is all the way out. Additional hints: 1) Get a new washer for the plug. Cheap insurance against leaking. 2) Be very careful not to over-torque it when reinstalling, as it is an aluminum housing, so it's easy to strip. 3) If you use a non-Nissan fluid, keep in mind that some are pure synthetic and some are "blends" (e.g., Valvoline Maxlife, which I have used in other applications). If it has always had pure synthetic, then most mechanics will recommend sticking with pure synthetic. 4) Use jack stands (unless its on a rack/ramps, of course)! Happy motoring!

First you should see what set it off in the first place. Auto zone sells a great code reader for about 120 dollars that will plug into the pin socket under the steering wheel and tell you what code (problem) set off the engine service light. Remember the onboard diagnostic system must sense a problem 3 times before the 'check engine' light comes on. It will then ask you if you want to reset or erase the code.

I found the answer to my question and will answer it myself to help anyone else with the same problem. The TIME CONTROL MODULE is located below the FUEL PUMP RESET next to the drivers left foot. When I replaced it, the chimes, dash lights, radio dimmer, dome, step and cargo lights all started working properly. The part was quoted by the dealer for $110.00. I picked it up at the junk yard for $20.00.

The cam sensor is integral to the distributor. The distributor is not repairable and must be replaced as an assembly except distributor cap and rotor head.

Our '04 does the same for no apparent reason. Wind will cause it to reopen once it is almost closed. toothpick in door track once. The "reopen sensor" is very sensitive it seems. Does not take it much to cause the door to not close.

Something is effecting the emissions controls. The ECU has set a fault code and turned on the light. Take it to a professional for repair.

The spark plug gap, for your 1997 Nissan, is .009. Most spark plugs will be pre-gapped when purchased from the manufacturer.
