It depends on the oil's density. The Maconda well has been considered a light oil, I believe, with an API gravity of 35, so it would initially float on the surface. However, as the lighter hydrocarbons are evaporated, the oil can become heavier. I don't know if the oil from the Maconda could become so heavy that it would sink below the surface as a lot of oil components would have to be evaporated off. An oil-dispersant mixture could exist below the surface, particularly if there was a lot of turbulence. Oil with a density of less than 10 API (Specific gravity of 1) would sink.
Why does oil come out of hole in ocean floor?
Because under the water, there is still solid rock, for 60 km, some of this rock contains oil, that's why offshore oil exploitation exists.
Where can I find an engineers report on gulf of Mexico oil spill?
I believe you are asking for a technical investigation report. BP has posted to their website their investigation report, but this will not be the only investigation. The Marine Board is also studying the accident, and conducting an inquiry by questioning the engineers involved in all aspects of rig operations. Their report will be available in January 2011.
The House of Representative- Committee on Energy and Commerce, posted on their site a number of technical reports on computer modeling of the cement that BP used. I have included this link.
There is the Commission established by President Obama, which has not issued any report.
See related links.
What does a meth spill do to skin?
A meth spill can cause severe skin irritation and chemical burns due to the toxic substances involved in its production and handling. Prolonged exposure can lead to dermatitis, allergic reactions, and potential systemic toxicity. Additionally, methamphetamine itself can cause skin lesions and infections, especially if users inject the drug. Immediate medical attention is essential to mitigate these harmful effects.
well, i don't know the scientific answer
but i recently did a plant lab in which i used different liquids to water plants
and the plants i used coke in grew considerably.
The duration of this lab was about 2 weeks
5 ways to clean up oil spills?
There are lots of ways. Let's discount "ignore it until it goes away on its own" and "wait until it washes up on a beach and can be scrubbed off by hand."
Five of the ways left are:
Answer:
Invite Kevin Kosner's scientist brother to place all his equipment in areas not already being busily cleaned up by BP. One centrifuge-machine can clean up to 200,000 gallons of sea water per day. As long as he is not hampering on-going operations why not "turn him loose" and let him "show us what his technology can do"?
Answer
Carl-Henric Svanberg is the current chairman of BP, (2010 July 16).

Oil is generally lighter than water so it floats to the surface. At the surface, it may be visible as a "oil sheen", with the reflected light showing a different color or brighter reflection than the water. The oil at the water surface is called an oil slick. Wind and wave action may make it difficult to observe the slick.
An accidental release of oil from storage tanks and tanker will result in an oil slick. Large oil spills have occurred as a result of war (Gulf war, World War II, Angolan civil war). Drilling of wells, such as Mexico's Ixtoc-1 well and BP's Macondo well, have resulted in oil slicks.
Is the 1999 Yamaha blaster oil tank needed?
no the oil tank isn't needed. but you will need to premix your fuel and oil. have a gas can you can have your premix in and mix about 4 ounces of 2 stroke oil for each gallon of gas. if the exhaust smoke is very smokey, use an ounce less oil per gallon. if theres very little exhaust smoke. add an ounce per gallon. when the exhaust smoke looks like it did when the oil tank was used. then use that mixture ratio. but, don't run very long with very little exhaust smoke, or the piston rod bearings will burn up. then its very expensive to have new ones installed. it will damage the bearings, crank pin, and piston rod. its always better to run a little too much oil in the gas than too little. if you use too much oil. it only fouls the spark plug. easy fix. clean the plug and reinstall.
The blaster runs a 32:1 ratio on oil/fuel. Also you will need to block off oil mixer on right side of crankcase and run a jumper wire on the oil safety switch
What is production per screened day mean?
production per screened day- the amount produced in days recorded
What happens if you overfill a harley oil tank.?
Overfilling oil is not recommended. If engine temperatures become high enough the pressure will cause oil to leak out of the filter and dirty engine parts.
If it enters into the air box, problems will occur.
How many barrels of oil did Deepwater Horizon produce before the disaster?
None.
The Maconda well did not conducted any production tests prior to the blow out. This was an exploratory well which did not reached it's final depth.

What is the best way to clean up a spill of very strong acid?
Add a lot of basic substances such as baking soda / limestone on the spill. Wait till the bubbling is complete (neutralization is complete) and then using a proper clothing, clean up the spill with a sponge.
One example would be the oil spills. When digging for oil, they didn't intend for the spill to happen, but it was a consequence of what they did.
Is oil available under the sea bed?

Some nutritionists believe that the additives, such as nitrates, in cured meats are carcinogens and are dangerous to consume because they can lead to cancer.
No. This was an accident. No credible evidence exists to the contrary.
A conspiracy theory initiated by ex-FEMA head, Michael Brown, suggests that President Obama did not do all that he could to control the spill, as to prevent new offshore drilling. See related link at the bottom.
This is an accident that will be thoroughly investigated. All organizations in the world involved in offshore exporation are anxious to know how the accident could have occurred and why the failsafe mechanism of the blow out preventer failed to operate.
