Why did Osama bin Laden choose to start Al-Qaeda?
Osama Bin Laden started Al Qadea to oppose the soviet occupation of Afghanistan during the 1980s. It was originally a jihad against the USSR supported by the CIA. After the soviets withdrew and the Saudis allowed the US to use bases in Saudi Arabia against Saddam Hussein in the first gulf war, he perceived this as sacrilege because Saudi Arabia was home to Mecca and Medina the two holiest sites in Islam and the Saudi Royals allowed the US non Muslim "infidels" onto holy land, he then saw the US to be a new threat as the soviet one faded away and redirected al qadea against the US and her allies in the middle east.

Why did Osama bin Laden want Americans to die?
He also disliked the U.S. for backing Israel. Although Arab Brotherhood isn't completely corruption-free, someone going against any Arab country for Jews, was completely unacceptable in his eyes. Also keep in mind that Osama bin Laden was very fundamentalist. In the 1970s, the West (mostly including the U.S.) was economically influential. Being a fundamentalist, he hated capitalist influence.
Among other reasons, bin Laden supposedly hated the United States for other reasons, such as acts of imposition on other Arab countries for their oil. Whether or not he actually hated the U.S. for those reasons is arguable. However, he did use these reasons to rally support in neighboring countries, which contain people who DO care. For this reason, the man was scarily brilliant, similar to that of Hitler.
Bin Laden, in his 1996 fatwa (declaration) entitled "Declaration of War against the Americans Occupying the Land of the Two Holy Places," identified several grievances that he has about Saudi Arabia, the birthplace and holy land of Islam. (and I quote directly from the fatwa):
"(1) The intimidation and harassment suffered by the leaders of the society, the scholars, heads of tribes, merchants, academic teachers and other eminent individuals;
(2) The situation of the law within the country and the arbitrary declaration of what is Halal and Haram (lawful and unlawful) regardless of the Shari'ah as instituted by Allah;
(3) The state of the press and the media which became a tool of truth-hiding and misinformation; the media carried out the plan of the enemy of idolising cult of certain personalities and spreading scandals among the believers to repel the people away from their religion, as Allah, the Exalted said: {surely- as for- those who love that scandal should circulate between the believers, they shall have a grievous chastisement in this world and in the here after} (An-Noor, 24:19).
(4) Abuse and confiscation of human rights;
(5) The financial and the economical situation of the country and the frightening future in the view of the enormous amount of debts and interest owed by the government; this is at the time when the wealth of the Ummah being wasted to satisfy personal desires of certain individuals!! while imposing more custom duties and taxes on the nation. (the prophet said about the woman who committed adultery: "She repented in such a way sufficient to bring forgiveness to a custom collector!!").
(6) The miserable situation of the social services and infra-structure especially the water service and supply , the basic requirement of life.,
(7) The state of the ill-trained and ill-prepared army and the impotence of its commander in chief despite the incredible amount of money that has been spent on the army. The gulf war clearly exposed the situation.,
(8) Shari'a law was suspended and man made law was used instead.,
(9) And as far as the foreign policy is concerned the report exposed not only how this policy has disregarded the Islamic issues and ignored the Muslims, but also how help and support were provided to the enemy against the Muslims; the cases of Gaza-Ariha and the communist in the south of Yemen are still fresh in the memory, and more can be said."
Bin Laden wanted to overthrow the Saudi monarchy (and other Middle East governments) and establish an "Islamic state" according to Shari'a law (Islamic Hole Law), to "unite all Muslims and to establish a government which follows the rule of the Caliphs[Muslim religious leaders who once governed the Ottoman Empire]." We might add that his vision called for an extremely strict version of Islam, but perhaps not as strict as the version being implemented in some Middle Eastern governments today. (Middle Eastern governments today are extremely repressive, have horrible human rights records, and are monarchical.)
However the US and other Western nations are supporting such regimes (in addition to killing Muslims through sanctions, wars, covert operations, bombing, and such) such as Saudi Arabia that bin Laden wanted to overthrow. Thus, according to bin Laden, Muslims must fight against such "oppressors" by killing Americans (and other people), including innocent people. According to this line of thought, if the US and other Western governments could get out of the Middle East, then repressive and "un-Islamic" regimes could be overthrown, and the only way to get Western governments out of the Middle East is to attack the citizens of those countries.
This is one of the main reasons bin Ladan hateed the US and other Western governments. However, the other reason is because of the Muslims that Western governments have killed. He explained this is his 1998 fatwa.
In his 1998 fatwa entitled, Jihad Against Jews and Crusaders bin Laden identified three grievances (and I quote) against the US:
First, for over seven years the United States has been occupying the lands of Islam in the holiest of places, the Arabian Peninsula, plundering its riches, dictating to its rulers, humiliating its people, terrorizing its neighbors, and turning its bases in the Peninsula into a spearhead through which to fight the neighboring Muslim peoples. (1)
If some people have in the past argued about the fact of the occupation, all the people of the Peninsula have now acknowledged it. The best proof of this is the Americans' continuing aggression against the Iraqi people using the Peninsula as a staging post, even though all its rulers are against their territories being used to that end, but they are helpless.
Second, despite the great devastation inflicted on the Iraqi people by the crusader-Zionist alliance, and despite the huge number of those killed, which has exceeded 1 million... despite all this, the Americans are once against trying to repeat the horrific massacres, as though they are not content with the protracted blockade imposed after the ferocious war or the fragmentation and devastation. (2)
So here they come to annihilate what is left of this people and to humiliate their Muslim neighbors.
Third, if the Americans' aims behind these wars are religious and economic, the aim is also to serve the Jews' petty state and divert attention from its occupation of Jerusalem and murder of Muslims there. The best proof of this is their eagerness to destroy Iraq, the strongest neighboring Arab state, and their endeavor to fragment all the states of the region such as Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Sudan into paper statelets and through their disunion and weakness to guarantee Israel's survival and the continuation of the brutal crusade occupation of the Peninsula. (3)
Some extra notes:
(1) Here he was talking about US troops in Saudi Arabia (the holy land of Islam), and about the gigantic amount of oil drilled their that is sold to the US, which he considered wasteful and an exploitation of the resources.
(2) Here he was talking about the 1990-2003 UN sanctions on Iraq, which was sponsored by the US and the UK. It might be recalled that the sanctions were partly responsible for killing an estimated 1 million innocent Iraqis, half of them being children. (Estimates go as high as 1.5 deaths , and as low as 170,000 deaths among children.) In fact Denis Halliday, United Nations Humanitarian Coordinator in Baghdad at the time, resigned from the UN in protest of the sanctions, saying: "I don't want to administer a programme that satisfies the definition of genocide.
(3) Finally, he was talking about Israel which he says is occupying neighboring Muslim land and oppressing the Palestinian people.
What things did Osama bin Laden do?
Bin Laden has done many terrorrist attacks including 9/11 and the 7/7 bombings. He rules the Al Qaeda. The 7/7 bombings were when the Al Qaeda had one terrorist blow up a bus and then a number of terrorists blow up a london underground train. This killed i think 60 to 80 people. Hope this has been a help.

No he is not. Saddam Hussien was killed in 2006, but there have been sightings of bin Laden since then.
Why did Osama bin lade destroy the twin towers?
Answer 1
B/c the twin towers were a direct hit to crash into so they sid not bother building them again to make a open attack.
Answer 2
There are numerous fataawa (fatwas) or Islamic Jurisprudential judgments that Islamic Extremist groups like bin Laden used to base their attack on 9-11.
There are three major fataawa that went into the "Islamic concept" of the validity of suicide bombings against civilians. This idea paved the way for the attacks of 9-11, but did not necessarily cause them. (This required actual planning and actual grievances.)
Bin Laden asserted that American troops in the Middle East, the US Support of the State of Israel, the US Support of the Independence of East Timor, the US failure to force all of its citizens to convert to Islam, and several other actions were sufficient to prove United States oppression by military means. (Whether this is sufficient evidence or not is controversial, but Bin Laden and Al-Qaeda seem to hold that it is.) Therefore, any Muslim had the right to fight the United States military or occupying force (Ruling 2). Once this is clear, the Muslim can select any method that he wishes to use to attack the United States military and Bin Laden decided to use the suicide bomber (Ruling 1).
The controversial next step of these rulings is when instead of attacking the United States military, Bin Laden chooses to attack the United States civilians since the United States is a democracy that "willingly chooses to oppress the Muslims" (Ruling 3). Most Muslims argue that attacking civilians violates the Qur'anic valuation of human life and respect for the non-combatant.
The reason for discussing this at length is to note that the grounds for the belief of the applicability of the legal doctrine may go back much further than the Islamic legal doctrines themselves. (Sometimes Bin Laden would stretch his claim back to the time of the Crusades, long before suicide bombing or planes were conceived.) Therefore, these events are not necessarily time-connected with the actual fataawa that "legitimate" 9-11. Additionally, the Qur'anic verse that serves as the basis for Ruling 2 was not conceived during a time when there was any semblance of an America or "Western oppression". Therefore, the fataawa as well are not time-connected with the events in which they applied. It is only an individual who takes these pre-existing fataawa and pre-existing conditions and says that the conditions fall under the purview of these fataawa.
Why did Osama bin Laden plan the attacks on 9-11?
The U.S. had troops in Saudi Arabia and we supported the Israels he was also running low on funds and he is just an all around dick!
Was Osama bin Laden a good leader?
With evil meaning physically posessed, no.
Osama is a terrorist according to western views and bias, as a result of acts being directly and indirectly coordinated by him, he has been referred to by people as being "evil". In this sense however it just refers to being cold and heartless, killing innocent civillians in order to send a message to the government. To some Osama is a great freedom fighter to others he is a terrorist, similar to Che Gueverra but Osama has killed more people. It is entirely your own opinion, if you are an Islamic extremist and think that the middle east should be run as strict Islamic states under strict Islamic laws you will agree with his cause. If you are a Socialist or any other opposing opinion you would be generally opposed to this man unless you find his acts against the U.S. as a sign of anti-imperialism.
It is entirely your own opinion.
He is the mastermind who planed 9/11. Its an opinion question. But he was just killed on 5/1/11 by US navy seals in Packston.
Yes because he was respnsible for the 9 11 plane crash. And he is a taliban.
No, Osama bin Laden has not been in the US since 1979. He was killed May 1, 2011 when U.S. soldiers told him to surrender. When he didn't, they neutralized his threat. In observance of, and respect toward Muslim tradition, he was given a burial at sea.
How many followers did Osama bin Laden have?
Technically, 0. The 9/11 attack may have been organized by his regime, but he did not fly the planes.
Where was Osama bin Laden hiding?
Obviously, that information isn't publicly held at this time.
Bin Laden, originally from Saudi Arabia and an offshoot from the Saudi Royal Family had enough cash to move quite freely before 9/11. Even since 9/11 his movements, while undoubtedly restricted, are still possible.
The two general theories on his whereabouts are that he's moving nightly between the Afghan and Pakistan, assisted by the Taliban, or that this victim of long term kidney disease is now dead and we just haven't confirmed it.
Considering the rather huge bounties on his head, the question of, "Why has no-one turned him in yet?" loom large -- if he's alive.
What made osama bin laden evil?
Because he was a terrorists and believed anyone who wasn't a Muslim should be killed
Is Osama bin Laden considered a criminal or terrorist by Muslims?
He is considered as a criminal by the musils but can also be considered as a terrorist but only if he terrorises. Islam is the fastet growing religion and acordingly to the koran it has no mistakes! if anyone can find a mistake with the koran raeding in context pls email me on rick02@hotmail.co.UK and i will prove you wrong. I challenge you!
It was announced on Sunday, May 1, 2011 that Osama Bin Laden was killed by US troops on the ground in a firefight. He was killed by the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) and four men, including Osama, died in the attack. No American was wounded or killed.
Osama was shot at least once in the head. The US has custody of his body. President Obama ordered the attack after receiving intelligence of bin Laden's location in a compound in Pakistan. The US first received this intelligence in August 2010. Bin Laden was the mastermind of the 9/11 terrorist attacks and has been in hiding for nearly a decade.
This answer will continue to be updated as more information is reported.
How was Osama bin Laden buried at sea?
Shortly after US troops killed terrorist leader Osama bin Laden in a Pakistani compound on May 1, 2011, the US took custody of his body and buried it at sea.
The reason he was buried so quickly has to do with Islamic traditions and practices. It is customary to bury a body within 24 hours of death.
A US official was quoted that the government decided to bury him in the sea because no country wanted to accept his body (it is rumored they asked his birth country of Saudi Arabia if they wanted the body and they refused), and also the US worried if bin Laden had a physical gravesite, it would become a place of worship for his followers.
What was the problem between Osama bin Laden and the US?
The late Osama bin Laden was against the US because he considered the US to be engaged in global political activities which were contrary to the interests of Islam. For example, the US has been the major ally of Israel since Israel's creation in 1948, and without US support Israel would have been destroyed a long time ago. The US has always been a predominantly Christian nation, and since it is the most powerful nation in the world, this creates a problem for those who would like to see a world dominated by Islam.
He belonged to the "Sunni" blend of Muslims, but a conservative branch of a very conservative group of believers. He believed in many of the same values as Christian and Muslim fundamentalist: in the suppression of women, keeping the body clean, not smoking and no drinking of alcohol.
Osama bin Laden was the founder of the Sunni militant Islamist organization Al Qaeda. He himself was also a Sunni.
