How do you make your own pasta?

It depends on what kind of Italian pasta. There is lasanga, mostacholli, penne vodka...and tons more. I can give you a good Italian Pasta Recipe.

Penne Vodka:

Items needed:

1 package of penne noodles

1/2 cup of vodka

1 can diced tomatoes

1 can tomato sauce ( any you choose)

1 cup of heavy whipping cream (smaller size)

1 tablespoon of minced garlic

2 tablespoons of Parmesan cheese

And seasoning like oregano, or basil.

Directions:

Boil water and add a little salt to the water for it to boil faster. Get out a deep skillet pan while the water is boiling. Add the garlic to the pan on medium heat and move around to get a light browning of the garlic. When water is done boiling add the noodles and cook on medium to high heat until soft. While cooking noodles add the sauce, diced tomatoes, seasonings and vodka to the deep skillet. Cook on medium heat until you for about 15-25 minutes. Once you feel the alcohol has dissolved add the heavy whipping cream and Parmesan cheese. Continue blending in until a dark orange color or even light orange. Remove noodles from water after they become soft or almost soft and strain them. Add a little olive oil to the noodles so they don't stick together. After that mix the noodles and sauce together, serve on plates with more Parmesan cheese and warm french bread or any Italian bread you choose. Also if over age 21 choose a good white chardonnay or red wine to go alone with the meal.

Jarred stuff, normally about three pizzas worth.

When did pasta come from?

Popular legend has it that Marco Polo introduced pasta to Italy following his exploration of the Far East in the late 13th century; however, we can trace pasta back as far as the fourth century B.C., where an Etruscan tomb showed a group of natives making what appears to be pasta. The Chinese were making a noodle-like food as early as 3000 B.C. And Greek mythology suggests that the Greek God Vulcan invented a device that made strings of dough (the first spaghetti?). =)

Did ancient Greek people eat pasta?

They took their grain as bread, not pasta.

One story is the Marco Polo brought it back from China, but this is unlikely. There is some support for the idea that the Arabs introduced it to the west, but this was later than the time of the ancient Greeks.

What is the difference between fresh and dried pasta?

Dried pasta has a better shelf live. Fresh pasta will cook much faster. Fresh pasta has to be refrigerated while dried pasta can be kept on the shelf.

Fresh pasta is typically made in smaller batches and can be created with more variety.

Can you store spaghetti sauce in an aluminum pot overnight?

Yes, if it will fit. As long as your food is promptly refrigerated, it will be okay. It doesn't matter whether you put the item(s) in plastic, leave them on a plate or in a bowl and cover them, or just leave them in an aluminum pan. The food will be happy to go chill out until you can get to it tomorrow - when it tastes even better!

Bon appétit.

What wine to pair with pasta and clam sauce?

In reality, any wine you like goes with lobster. The old rule--red with meat, white with chicken and fish (red with red, white with white) is not one that we need to follow. If you like the wine with any kind of food, then drink it. But if you are looking for kinds of white wines--chardonnay would be nice, as would a dry German Rhine wine. But not gewertstraminer, that has a bit of spice in it that might not taste that great. But then again, it might taste good to you. So try some different kinds out. Sweet, dry (not sweet), pink (rose), whatever.

What shape is farfelle pasta?

What is the difference between spaghetti sauce and enchilada sauce?

The basic ingredients are the same. In fact, any tomato sauce recipe can be used as a spaghetti or pasta sauce or as a pizza sauce.

However, pizza sauce should have a thicker consistency than most spaghetti sauces. Watery sauces will soak the crust and leave you with a soggy pizza.

If leftover or store bought spaghetti sauce is going to be used on pizza, as is with no 'doctoring', reduce the sauce by simmering in a sauce pan until it has the consistency of a thick pancake batter.

1/2 pound per person if only serving pasta, otherwise 1/3 pound per person. You will have extra, but its better than running out. Get take-away boxes if its feasible. Those white styrofoam take-home boxes are great and guests love taking home food (depends on your venue though).

What is the plural of pasta?

Actually, there is one, as spaghetti is plural. The singular is spaghetto. It starts out from the root spago, from the Italian, which means "cord" or "string." So spaghetti means cords/strings. Spaghettini (plural of spaghettino) are thinner.

This is in Italian, the language of the culture from which this food derives, but, obviously, people in English-speaking countries don't usually know this.
