Is it safe to take Tamiflu and penicillin at the same time?
The literature from the manufacturer of Tamiflu (oseltamivir) does not list that as a potential drug interaction problem. However, you should always notify your prescribing doctor if you are taking other medicines before you take any new prescriptions or use over the counter medicines with them.
The Tamiflu literature does state:
Information derived from pharmacology and pharmacokinetic studies of oseltamivir suggests that clinically significant drug interactions are unlikely.
No pharmacokinetic interactions have been observed when coadministering oseltamivir with amoxicillin, acetaminophen, cimetidine or with antacids (magnesium and aluminum hydroxides and calcium carbonates).
What is the strongest form of penicillin?
Like most antibiotics, penicillin is very powerful against certain bacteria, and not powerful at all with other bacteria.
Example: if I was careless enough to catch gonorrhoea, I would take penicillin in a heartbeat. If I had a urinary infection or lung infection, I would take Levaquin or Augmentin, but not penicillin.
Simply, it's an antibiotic.
Penicillin is not used to prevent infections. It is used to treat bacterial infections and cause the infection to be cured. It is derived from a common mold.
Penicillin treats bacterial infections, such as gonorrhea, which is a male oriented malady.
Combating bacterial infections.
most infections, ear infections, strep throat, tonsilitis, cut in your finger and such
It should definitely not be wasted on a sore throat or a headache as it can't help these things in anyway.
A different type of penicillin is used on animals
Does penicillin cure gonorrhea?
Penicillin will not cure gonorrhea. It could at one time, but drug-resistant strains of gonorrhea are increasing in many areas of the world, including the United States, and successful treatment of gonorrhea is becoming more difficult.
Can you take Flagyl or Levaquin if you're allergic to penicillin?
I am allergic to penicillin, cephalorsporins, sulfa drugs and now levaquin. I had a severe reaction to levaquin after taking it for about 4 days for pneumonia. My face and eyes swelled up and I got hives all over. This is a delayed reaction, but definitely an allergic reaction, so you may not realize you allergic to it until a few days in.
I would be very careful before deciding to take levaquin, since it may cause severe swelling, but of course everyone is different.
Did Alexander Fleming find it hard to create penicillin?
Because it was excreted too quickly by the human body, which reduced its ability to kill the bacteria.
How did alexander Fleming create penicillin in 19281929?
On the morning of September 3rd, 1928, he was having a clear up of his cluttered laboratory. he was sorting through a number of glass plates which had previously been coated with bacteria as part of his research, one of the plates had mould on it. The mould was in the shape of a ring and the area around the ring seemed to be free of the bacteria. The mould was penicillium notatum.
Can you take Tamiflu if im allergic to penicillin?
No. Tamiflu is an anti-viral drug while aspirin is an NSAID (used for inflammation) and penicillin is an antibiotic (doesn't treat viral infections). There's no reason why Tamiflu should contain aspirin or penicillin.
However, don't confuse Tamiflu with TM-FLU (completely different drug) which appears to contain penicillin and is a scam/fraudulent product. Do not use TM-FLU.
For more info on the TM-FLU scam see the related question below in the related links section.

Can you use penicillin for tooth absess?
Killing the pain of a tooth infection requires a three fold plan:
1. The source of the infection is an abscess in the tooth. Penicillin can not get to the abscess. It must be removed either by being drilled out and filled in or by having the tooth removed.
2. The pain can be stopped temporarily by a drug such as Novocain, Tylenol, aspirin, or something else.
3. And finally, the infection that spread from the abscess into the body is treated by penicillin. That is the long term solution to the pain from that source. That keeps the infection from coming back to that point. The penicillin is frequently started before the abscess is removed to keep the removal of the abscess from spreading infection throughout the body when it is removed. At that point some other medicine is frequently given to stop the pain. Penicillin only prevents pain in the long term.

Yes, that would be OK. Remember to take all of your Flagyl even after you start feeling better. You want to kill all the bacteria and not leave any hiding in your body! Do not drink any alcohol while taking this, and check the ingredient labels of any liquids you put into your mouth or onto your skin. If it has alcohol as an ingredient, stay away from it.

Antibiotics treat infections.
Antihypertensives treat high blood pressure.
Anticoagulants are blood thinners
Antihistamines treat allergic responses
Antimetabolites and antineoplastics treat cancer.
Antipsychotics treat severe mental illness.
Benzodiasepines are used tin the treatment of anxiety.
Diuretics help treat heart failure.
Contraceptives prevent pregnancy.
Expectorants and decongestants relieve cold symptoms.
Vasopressors treat shock, heart failure, heart block, asthma, and severe allergic reactions.
How did penicillin change peoples lives?
Penicillin has become a front-line tool of medicine around the world. It has saved many lives, and its availability and efficacy has freed people from fear of infection by common bacteria. The growing problem of penicillin resistance in bacteria has reduced its efficacy, but it is still useful in combating many infections.
Can you take gentamIcin if allergic to penicillin?
Tetracyclines (e.g. doxycycline), quinolones (e.g. ciprofloxacin), macrolides (e.g. clarithromycin), aminoglycosides (e.g. gentamicin) and glycopeptides (e.g. vancomycin) are all unrelated to penicillins and are safe to use in the penicillin allergic patient.
Normally penicillin is prescribed by your doctor, to treat a specific bacterial infection, and dispensed by your local pharmacy. Because of the long use of penicillin many bacteria are now resistant whereas further developed antibiotics may be necessary.
