Pontiac Fiero

There is no adjustment possible for the clutch pedal on the Pontiac Fiero. The earlier design pedals were problematic in that they could bend, preventing full disengagement of the clutch. You may also have a problem in the hydraulic system for the clutch. Check the fluid level in the clutch master cylinder reservoir. This is the small, cylindrical reservoir on the driver's side of the front compartment. It is possible that you have a fluid leak in the clutch system. This can cause the same problems as an improperly adjusted clutch pedal on vehicles with an adjustable pedal. You may also have a defective master or slave cylinder. I suggest picking up a service manual at your local auto parts store, they go through everything the average car owner needs to know about their specific vehicle including extensive information on inspecting, repairing, and replacing clutch components. You don't necessarily need to replace your clutch pedal if it is bent. Rodney Dickman (www.rodneydickman.com) sells an adjustable banjo that will fix your problem. This depends on what year your car is.

The 1987 and 1988 tanks were about a gallon larger than previous model and will interchange.

Unfortunately it is in the gas tank between the seats. To get to it you have to remove the tank working underneath the car, and then remove the pump from the tank.

The lock has a clip on the inside, pull the clip off and the lock will come out, remove the lock rod and then you can use a screwdriver to open the lock.

best way is gravity flow.jack up frontend.take off cap to resovor and go drink a six pack while u wait.

V6 or 4cly. ?

i know ive seen a 3800 in them dont know if the 3.3 would need more or less mods to how its set up

Overdrive is the name given to the highest possible gear available in a transmission. Of all possible gears, this high gear gets the RPM (revolutions per minute) of the wheels closest to the RPM of the transmission. This is typically used for highway travel at high speeds and has the highest mpg for the vehicle. In high gears at high speed, the engine has good power available to propel the vehicle. But at lower speeds, in high gear, the engine power available to propel the car diminishes. This leads to the O/D overdrive button in some vehicles. This mode is typically used when towing or driving in hilly or mountainous areas. Since the power diminishes as lower speeds, in high gear, the transmission needs to compensate when driving under these two conditions. The trans will try to match the best gear with power available at various engine speeds and vehicle speeds. Sometimes, this may mean switching to a lower gear with higher engine RPMs. This allows more power to be available to climb hills or tow loads up an incline without the driver being forced to shift to lower gear manually (gears 2, or 1 in automatics, or shifting down to 4th, or 3rd gear in standards).

I fought with this for a week recently, you have another underlying problem.

check your shifter cables on the left side of your engine bay. there are two cables next to each other. in a 4 spd the right selects R, 1and2, 3and4. in a 5 spd it selects 1and2, 3and4, 5and R. the other actually selects the gears. One of your cables is probably disconnected or broken. my suggestion is that you find and purchase a new cable.

Fuel pump in a Fiero is electric. It's in the gas tank. Gas tank's in the middle of the car. Drop the tank. Pull the pump.

Open your hood. Its in the middle between the AC aluminum thing and the brake booster. Simple one wire harness, these things are cake, 50 times easier on the fiero cause you dont have to sit on your head. Make sure its not the blower resistor first.

I don't think it has a IAT sensor, but it does have a temperature vacuum switch to work the heated air door.

First get a manual. Second, what type of engine do you want to swap in? If it is not a direct swap you will need to get harnesses and wiring to do it. If you want a v8 you will need to contact v8archie to get a kit.

Blow-by bad rings

Negative.

Twin cams tend to over pressurize the oil in the rocker boxes, which then vents out to two tubes behind your air cleaner (those two rubber tubes back k there? yup those... The theory is that the intake suction will pull that oil back into the motor and burn/push it through the exhaust... in reality, it leaks all through the air cleaner.

Solution--

Go to auto zone and buy some tubing to vent the excess oil from the heads to a catch can on the lower portion of the bike (you can dump it on the road, but it makes your back end really grimy...) Almost anything will work, but if you want pretty, Jegs makes some little alum or SS cans with breathers and you can use spiffy ss wrapped tubing, all up to you... good luck!!! (PS block off the holes in the back of the air cleaner too, so you wont suck in dirt)

the switch in the steering wheel is stock on or the relay for the horn is stock on. for the stock steering wheel, remove the round cap with a large screwdriver (there is a special spot) once the cap is removed, place the steering wheel straight right, at 10h position (on a clock) there is a stud an a spring device, you can pull the out, if the horn is still blowing check the relay. the relay is positioned over the passenger feet. the relay is yousualy white and neer the blue box, you can remove it with your hand. if the horn still blow, cut the wire...

Just one in the engine compartment under the thermostat cap.

Remove the outer skin. It has bolts on the inside of the door by the hinges and door opening side, plastic rivets on the bottom AND, REMOVE THE DOOR MOLDING. The door molding is best removed after removing the inner door shell. The plastic clips that hold the molding will break very easily. From the inside of the door, as you look at the molding connectors, the connectors has a little tab that must be slightly pressed up and then slid out. Also, you'll have to disconnect the locking rod from the door key.

You have rivets holding the motor in place, this is why you need to remove the inner and outer shell. Use a chisel to remove the rivets. The rest is in a manual I purchased at a auto store. Plan on at least a half day's work. I've replaced both motors and it was no fun.

If it is a cartridge style filter the socket size is 22MM. Remove the plate style cover a feww turns until all the oil is drained, you will then be able to remove the cover the rest of the way and see the bottom of the cartridge. in the bottom of the center of the cartridge there is a tab sticking down, grab with a pair of pliers, twist and pull down and be prepared to be cover with splashed oil as the cartridge comes out.

There are two relays. Each one screwed to the headlight frame.

There are two real ways:

1st my favorite way, Drag the car into a heated garage overnight. Pour 1/2 gallon or 2 liters of gas line antifreeze into the tank and hope that cures the problem.

2nd Pour 1/2 gallon of gas line antifreeze into the gas tank wait an hour and pray. If the car wont start come back in 1/2 an hourr and try again. If it still wont start you have to follow proceedure #1

The original rating is around 93 hp. Considering age and loss of power through drivetrain forces, most 2.5L Fieros are likely putting out around 75-80 -ish hp.

The reason behind the over heating of your fiero is the fact its an RMR layout and your cooling system is in the front end of the car. The time the coolant travels is not quick enought to cool the engine as fast as it is needed.
