How do you replace alternator in a 1985 pontaic fiero?
Some manuals say through the bottom of engine compartment.
You have to remove oil filter(and drain oil), And heater hose pipe( and coolant),
Oh, how expensive and messy.
Hears the correct, inexpensive, easy, and Fast way..
If you have the 2.5, remove the TOP engine torque strut. Engine should stay in place.
The engine is balanced on bottom and easily adjusted back and forth for re-installation.
The torque strut is attached to the rear of engine compartment then to the alternator adjusting bracket which is attached to the engine.
Remove 13mm bolt on top of alt. to adjusting bracket.
Move the alternator belt out of way. Remember/draw/picture how it's routed.
Then the 2 bolts attaching the adjusting bracket/torque strut holder to the engine.
Remove the nut attaching the wire to the back of alt.
Remove the clip of wires on the back of alt.
Squeeze clip together and pull straight out. A little wiggling helps. A little. Don't damage it.
Remove Bottom Alternator bolt and nut.
Pull alternator out through TOP OF ENGINE COMPARTMENT.
INSTALLATION: Reverse order. Don't over-tighten belt. If not sure, start a little loose.
If it squeels, go a little tighter till it stops.
How do you fix a high idle problem on a Pontiac Fiero it idles at 1500 rpm's sitting and overheats?
If this is the 2.8 v6 then the high idle is probably a vacuum leak. Check all vacuum lines for leaks and to verify that they are routed as the sticker on the deck lid shows. Check the EGR tube as these fail often and is most likely the cause. Also check throttle body and intake manifold gaskets. Spray parts cleaner on these areas while engine is idling; if the idle speed temporarily drops then you have found the leak!
How do you get access to the fuel pump on a 1986 Pontiac Fiero SE 2.8 6-cylinder?
3-3-09 The fiero gas tank is under the center of car. You will need to remove four 1/2 inch or 13mm bolts that hold the protective plate. There are two straps that hold the tank up. One in the front and one in the rear. The bolts for those straps are up in between the tank and body on the drivers side. you will need a 13mm deep well socket for these. Once those are removed and pushed out of the way., go to the rear of the tank and remove the fill hoses using a 5/16 socket on the hose clamps. should be a couple of 1/4 inch clamps on the pump lines as well and may need to disconnect directly from fuel filter depending on year and engine. After all of this you also need to remember to unplug the pump wires which can be accessed from above in the engine compartment. They will be located in the center of the car along the firewall. There are three wires brown, pink, black usually all in one connector. After fishing these wires down you will be able to move out the tank and change pump. Hint on installation. Use wd-40 and spray on fill hoses to ease reinstalling

Where can I find a free electrical schematic for a 1995 Chevy Blazer?
Possibly in the local library auto books. LOL. Most books and even the factory diagrams are terrible. what do you want to find? I'm having intermitent electrical problems and can't find. a number of years ago, I had a similar electrical problem and amazingly found that it was a short in the wire that controlled the lumbar support in the drivers seat. Disconnected it and hadn't had a problem since. However, in the past 6 months, all of the lights in the vehilce (dash lights, dome, etc.) all light up at once. Then recently when it happens when driving it, the vehicle almost stalls. Hitting the gas gets things going again. Almost like the fuel pump was being affected. It only lasts for a few seconds then goes away. Only occurs about once a week. I'm assuming there may be a short in one of the wires leading to the drivers seat (like under the carpet or something), but I haven't been able to find it. Installed a new battery a few months ago (in case I had a crack internally in the battery post) but no luck. Thanks for your answer. I hadn't considered looking at the library.
