How many digits in London postal code?

There are three components to the British postcode. They have different formats, depending on how big an area they are covering. They have the following example formats:

W1A 1AA

TS18 4DQ

B1 2JP

The first component is a one- or two-letter prefix for the city (or part of London). The second component may be one or two digits, or a digit and a letter, identifying a section of the city or an outlying town. There is then a blank space, followed by the last component, which is always one digit and two letters, identifying a single business or a small range of residential addresses.

What is the postcode for Monaghan town?

I come from Monaghan and generally there are no post codes or as they say in America zip codes, usually if you were sending a letter from another country to Ireland it would look like this : John Doe

10 Park street

Co. Monaghan

Republic , Ireland

And the letter finds its way there. Now if you were to send the letter to a residence in the country where there is no house numbers it would look like this :

John Doe

Stranooden

Co. Monaghan

Republic , Ireland

The local postman just knows all the residence and the mail makes its way to you with out post codes or zip codes.

What is the postal code for Galway city Ireland?

Most of Ireland does not have any postal codes, however, Galway city does.

A new postal code system for Galway has recently been introduced by Galway Postcode. It is a simple and seven six and seven character alphanumeric code with three letters designating the geographical area, e.g. NW1, NE2, SW3, SW4, EC5 and SE6 followed by three or more numbers that will identify the street, road, apartment block or housing estate.

In addition industrial estates, major city infrastructure and building/services of major significance have been assigned their own unique code.

How It Works

Galway is simply divided into six separate compass point and zones numbered 1 to 6 - NW1, NE2, SW3, SW4, EC5 and SE6.

The River Corrib neatly divides the city into east and west respectively. Roads then provide the means to subdivide the east and west section into three separate postal zones.

For example, Galway City West is divided into NW1 ( North-West 1 ) , SW3 ( South-West 3 ) and SW4 ( South-West 4).

Galway City East is divided into NE2 ( North-East 2), EC5 ( East-Central 5) and SE6 ( South-East 6 ).
