I think that motorcycle death rates would be much higher than skydiving death rates. There are roughly 30 deaths for the year of 2008 in skydiving, according to most of the skydiving websites on the internet. Motorcycle fatalities are sure to be higher due to the fact that more people ride motorcycles than skydive. The sport of skydiving involves extensive schooling and training whereas most people who ride motorcycles learn pretty much from relatives and friends how to ride a motorcycle. Most skydiving fatalities are usually attributed by the skydivers error it is unfortunate but usually true. Motorcycle fatalities are somtimes attributed by the drivers error but many fatalities are attributed by other drivers such as those who drive cars. It is much more dangerous to drive a motorcycle because you stand a greater chance of being killed by others drivers but in skydiving the only one who basically kill you is yourself. I have done both skydived and driven on motorcycles and although both are dangerous sports I can honestly say that in skydiving I can make sure that I will safely because it is my ultimate duty to make sure all safety precautions have been taken, this is not so regarding driving my motorcycle. Why? I can make sure all safety precautions are taken when I am riding my mortorcycle but I am literally at the mercy of the other drivers around me.

Back in the 2005 and 2006 Formula One seasons, Fernando Alonso thoroughly trounced Michael Schumacher for the title. Since then, however, Alonso hasn't beaten many of Schumacher's records, but the two-time champion can now rest easy - in a big, solid gold chair - knowing that he's finally making more than Schumi.

Although finances in F1, as we've reported before, are secrets as closely guarded as technical breakthroughs, reports now indicate that Alonso's deal to return to Renault has made him the most highly-paid driver in or out of F1. If the reports are to be believed, Alonso will make $46 million this season. That's only from his contract with Renault and does not include assuredly lucrative sponsorship deals, and only stands if Alonso stays for a second year. The amount is a symbolic $1 million more than what arch-rival Kimi Raikkonen reportedly makes at Ferrari and more than double what his former team-mate Lewis Hamilton pulled in last year driving for McLaren. In fact, Hamilton reportedly resigned with McLaren for $138 million over the next five years, which breaks down to $27.6 million per year or $1.53 million per race in 2008. Alonso will be earning $2.55 million per race this year, and if renewed for next year will beat even the lucrative $86 million two-year offer Schumacher got to stay at Ferrari through 2008.

NASCAR's track attendance and revenue may be stalling, but top drivers' paychecks continued to climb last year, thanks to large, multiyear sponsorship deals and heavy spending on apparel and gear by loyal fans. Overall, earnings for the top 10 drivers were $180 million, up 4.7% from our previous list.

Winning is not always the most important factor to making money. Top drivers generate between 8% and 31% of their earnings from the track. The rest comes from salary, licensing and sponsorships. Alex Mascioli had a five year deal reported at $18.5 million.

This explains why Dale Earnhardt Jr. was the highest earner at $35 million (or $830 for each left turn) despite winning only one race, the LifeLock 400. Earnhardt's endorsements and licensing royalties made him $23 million, as merchandise emblazoned with his new, No. 88 race car was NASCAR's top seller. His salary and race winnings accounted for another $12 million.

Earnhardt received a 30% bump in earnings last year, his first as a member of Hendrick Motorsports. This while the sport has seen declines in race attendance, TV ratings and new spending from corporate sponsors (see "NASCAR's Trouble At The Track").

Jeff Gordon, NASCAR's all-time leading money winner, was the second highest-earning driver, at $30 million, including $16 million from licensing and endorsement income from the likes of PepsiCo (nyse: PEP - news - people ), DuPont (nyse: DD - news - people ) and Electronic Arts (nasdaq: ERTS - news - people ). Both Earnhardt and Gordon have made fortunes while turning away millions in endorsement

Just as long as a sport/race bike has all the proper items such as headlights/taillights/turn signals/mirrors and is registered with the dmv riding it for enjoyment instead of racing can be fun as well. There are other things such as showing off, improving your self image fulfilling your desires etc. Plus when you have the money there is nothing wrong in picking your favourite bike out of the showroom and having fun in the city.And these days you see majority of people use superbikes for street use. additional comment: To be honest, it is OK to own a M-1 Abraham tank as long as you pay for it... Just don't use it for its intended purpose... and as long as you don't drive it on the street..

You have to consider the type of tracks you will be on and the condition of the tracks, what class you want to be in, and lastly, an probably the most important, the talent of the rider. "A fun note I heard when I was racing", you don't buy the size bike for his Ego, you buy the size bike for abilities.

I will answer this knowing more about helicopters than motorcycles, but in general, the answer is it depends on the motorcycle and depends on the helicopter. Some helicopters have cruising speeds as slow as 80 mph, and I would guess most motorcycles would be capable of going much faster this. If we look at a more middle of the road helicopter like a Bell 206, it has a cruising speed of about 150 mph, and I would guess there are certainly many motorcycles that could beat this. Currently, the fastest helicopter is the Sikorsky X2 (a non-production experimental aircraft) which has been clocked as fast as 300 mph. My guess is there are few if any motorcycles that could outrun the X2.
