What is the salary for a radio station on air host?

You have to understand that there's a huge range between the bottom and the top

in the world of radio, just as there's an enormous difference between the bottom

and the top in, say, rock bands.

On the one end, there's an AM radio station that transmits with 1,000 watts and

can be heard by the 2,000 people in a farm town in central Nebraska. It signs on

with the corn, hog, and soybean prices at 5:00 in the morning, carries the local

news, weather, and obituaries right after that, has three hours of phone-in

buy-sell-and-trade sponsored by the Farm and Feed for the rest of the morning,

an interview with the County Extension Office's barley expert right after lunch,

some music from Mr. Ericsson's personal record collection in the afternoon, the

station manager comes on to discuss his favorite recipes from 4 to 6 in the

afternoon, and the day wraps up with a play-by-play broadcast of the Central

School's softball game live from Heifer Stadium after dinner. The game goes into

extra innings, and by the time it ends, most folks have turned off the radio and

gone to bed, because tomorrow is another work day. At last, the game is over.

The players are exhausted, and the radio announcer can finally shut the station

down and go home. It's almost 9:30 .

At this station, the station owner/manager himself may handle the on-air duties.

Or, if there are any 'hosts' or 'announcers' who keep things going on the air, they're

either volunteers, who do it mainly so their girl-friends can hear them on the radio,

or else they earn a little walking-around money plus maybe a free lunch once

a week at the truck stop over on the highway that sponsors the cotton report

on Tuesdays.

At the other end of the range, you'll find the 'host' on the FM rock station in

New York, Chicago, LA, Houston, or San Francisco. The signal from his station

may reach 8 million people. But there are 30 other radio stations that do the

same, and they all do everything they can think of to capture the listeners.

One of the things they have to do is be exquisitely careful about who they

put on the air, and the competition to land one of those spots, among the

so-called "talent", is fierce. Nobody will even be considered unless he's been

on the air in smaller places for years, turned out to be somebody who could

magically attract the ears of a large audience, and made a name for himself

in the business. He's got a chance to land the spot on a station in a big place.

His agent or his manager negotiates with the station owners, and if they come

together on the terms to hire this guy, then they actually put it in writing, they

all sign a contract, and he goes on the air for them. This one may be hauling

down several hundred $K a year, or more.

And then there are all the voices in between these extremes.

So the answer to the question is: Typically, generally, usually, somewhere

between nothing and a $million a year.

Can you have 2 radio stations play on a car redio at one time one on the left speakers and one on the right?

Not on a normal radio. Such radios are designed to receive only the signal of the frequency that they are tuned into. Different stations transmit on different frequencies so a radio will only pick up one at a time.

What are the Lyrics to so amazing By Clark Anderson from movie Hurricane?

When your life's a wall

Can't see the light of day

When your hope is gone

When you second-guess your faith

When you turn around

And realize that no one else

Will believe in you only yourself

When you're holding on

Can't find a will to breathe

Can you right the wrong?

That has brought you to your knees

Though you've barely lived your life

You keep on, believing you'll survive

And all that's left is what's inside

Chorus - Amazing

I have heard my inner voice

And finally can rejoice

I was lost and weighed down

Never thought that I would be

Amazing that now I'm free

So you let go of the love that's holding on

Then you closed your eyes

Never thought of being wrong

You surrendered half your life

To a world of pain and sacrifice

But you've found the way to make things right

Repeat Chorus

Desperate

So confined

Every day losing touch of my mind

I found that strength

Gained my pride

Isn't it crazy, so amazing

I'm alive

Repeat Chorus (2x)

Amazing that now I'm free

(refrence: Summer Anderson, co-writer of this song)

How do radio waves help astronomers?

They are simply one more way to observe distant objects and events.

How do you remove the dashboard console in a 1995 Geo Prizm to replace the radio?

You have to get a flathead screwdriver and pop it out from above the air conditioner console all the way to the bottom underneath the tray and cigarette lighter. Make sure you unplug the cables from your hazard light (Behind the button with the three red triangles). If you buy a car stereo for your prizm make sure you get the headunit kit for 20 bucks so it fits it will come with a booklet that shows the part of the dash you have to take off. This applies to any geo prizm from 93-97. Also randomness...... back speakers are 6 1/2 inch front are like 4's but I don't think you can buy 4's so get 5.25's and drill new holes.

Why does the radio not work on my 1994 Plymouth spirit?

check fuse box, anyone need to replace.

I have a 95 Intrepid that had a nice factory radio that had great sound. Bought it used a little over a year ago. Radio started having problems a few months ago. I could start the car and there would be no power to the radio, other times, there would be lights on it, but no sound, and you could not change stations, controls, etc. Checked all of the connections, all were fine. Eventually put another radio in, and have had no problems since.

How do you remove the dash bezel on a 1999 Chevy Tahoe in order to change the radio?

You do not need to remove the dash.

Take out the ash tray (by pressing down the lever as you pull it out)

Starting at the sides, pull firmly on the plastic trim through the ash tray opening.

The trim will start to pop off.

Be careful not to pull to hard, as the trim is attached by small plastic tabs with metal clips on the end you may break them and not be able to get the trim piece back on.

There are two on the bottom, two in the middle and two at the top (Will vary on car package).

Once you pull it off, you'll see the two bolts holding the radio in.

Remove these two bolts and slide the radio out.

TIP: When installing the new radio, try to find a harness adapter. It will make installation easier and cleaner.

If at any time you cannot purchase an adapter, cut the wires 2 to 2 1/2 inches from the plug the is in your dash.

When you sell the car in the future you may want to replace the stock radio back into the car.

By cutting 2 to 2 1/2 inches from the plug you can re attach it for the stock radio.

Why should music lyrics not be censored?

No

No, I don't feel music should be censored on the albums. I do feel, however, that the packaging should have labeling more like that of the video game industry. On video games there is a rating system that describes what age that title is appropriate for and specific reasons why. That way when a parent purchases it (if they paid any attention) they know exactly what it is that is going into their home and their children's heads. Now, what is broadcast over the air is a different story. Often you don't know a song is inappropriate until they have already said the line. You can turn the song off, but if you are in the car with your 6 and 8 year old, the damage is already done.

I think music should not be censored because everyone has a freedom of speech. If a mother or father doesn't want their children listening to the kinda music that they think will influence them to do something bad or grow up to be something other than good, then they need to be careful and watch what their children are listening to, and make sure that that kind of music that is not good for a child's environment, should not be around them. That kind of music is for people who actually wanna listen to it and will listen to it, not for little kids. There are all kinds of music. Music for the grown folks, music for the teens, and music for the little ones. There are even music for the religious and unreligious.

Yes

Using bad language is still unethical and can be harmful. Without censoring songs, you're allowing the youth of today to believe these words or songs are cool and possibly better lived out in reality than without these songs. That continues over to the next generation that might result in worse possibilities. As you see more and more each day, things are getting worse. More crimes, more hate and violence, and more evil. If we can do just one thing to help our society it could change our future and the future of our kids. By just censoring one song could make the difference of a child not yelling at their mother. You may not realize these things are happening, but when you compare this generation to previous ones, you notice they were not as openly negative as they are now. Yes, you have rights, but I would like the right to not be abused in public by someone who listens to songs that teaches you to be a criminal.

We were talking about children before, but adults are also being affected. Adults are bigger and stronger than kids, you know where that can lead to. They also have the tendency to settle for their own pleasure over other's needs. Children are different in that they are small and look up to the adults and their criticism. You can hardly find a grown up that listens to music, think about the consequences of these songs, and tries to change their attitude. Almost every one that does listen to it, enjoys music and sees it as a privilege. They even go over board and blast it very loud in the streets. Who would want to give up their privilege? So, as you see, at least if we can censor music, it is for the better of mankind. And those songs we hear from blocks away won't be send such an unwanted message as before to our youths and elders.

Also , as you may have noticed, anyone can get their hands on any type of music, censored and uncensored, these days. That makes it a difficult job for parents or even children to keep from coming into contact with them. For music lyrics to be censored would give you the chance clean up your act, halt demoralizing yourself, find something more respectable to adapt to, and see the beauty of something more innocent. Why is bad being portrayed as good? That's like teaching someone to lie. This can help all of us to stop hating each other and to find some common ground. It's a start to world peace.

How do radio waves effect are body?

They can be, if you're willing to put in the effort that it would require.

You must be slightly off-kilter to begin with, and then here are a few ways

it might be done:

-- Modify your microwave oven so that it can run with the door open. Then

stand in front of it while you pop the corn or heat the leftover meatloaf.

-- Set up your lounge chair, then relax with a drink and a good book, five feet

in front of a Doppler radar antenna. Stay there for a substantial length of time.

-- Take an office job at a popular FM radio station that serves a large geographic

area. Set up your office on a platform mounted on the tower, either at the top,

or, better, between two bays of the transmitting antenna.

Short of those efforts or similar ones, your attempts to do yourself harm

by means of radio waves are doomed to failure.

Why is a crystal oscillator required in a radio transmitter?

SOME kind of oscillator is required, to create the AC signal that will be modulated,

amplified, and eventually sent up to the antenna to be transmitted. It doesn't

have to be a crystal oscillator, though.

What is the frequency range of AM radio?

They are methods of transmitting signals (speech, music, data etc) on carrier frequencies. FM is Frequency Modulation where the carrier frequency is modified by the signal frequency. AM is Amplitude Modulation where the carrier amplitude (size) is modified by the signal

What was the radio like in the 1920's?

Scientists like Hughes and Tesla were still experimenting around with the new invention, radio. In the late 1800's, they were transmitting, or attempting to, signals to other places to see if that place can hear their signal. So I would say radio in the late 1800's was not what we think of radio today, or even in the mid-1900's with radio shows, music, spots, etc.

A sample of a written radio program proposal?

You introduce a new radio program by doing your homework. You need to know your target audience and target market and have the numbers to present to them. You should have people listen to your show and give their feedback and opinions and share them with the producers as well.

What properties make radio waves good for communicating?

The really nice thing about radio waves is that they will make the electrons in a piece of copper wire move; this means that they generate electric currents in the wire. In fact it works both ways: alternating currents in a copper wire generate electromagnetic waves, and electromagnetic waves generate alternating currents. The electric currents at "radio frequencies" (rf) are used by radio and television transmitters and receivers. I use frequencies of 145MHz (VHF), 14MHz (20m HF) and 3.7MHz (80m HF).

Group of radio telescopes?

Currently, the radio telescope at Aricebo in Puerto Rica at 305 m diameter is the largest.

In hand are plans for a SKA telescope (see skatelescope.org) in the southern hemisphere. This enables our Milky Way galaxy to be studied. The total area of the many dishes will be 1 sq km, hence the name. The resolution of a radio telescope is determined by the length of the baseline, and in this case, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand are collaborators for the ground stations. There are intended to be several different types of aerials to cover a few hundred megahertz, out to a few thousand megahertz. Construction is expected to start in the near future.

What license is required Marine VHF radio?

A radio operator's certificate through an application to the Federal Communication Commission.

How does a radio telescope gather radio waves?

Exactly the same way that an optical telescope gathers waves with wavelngths

shorter than radio waves:

Both the mirror of a reflecting telescope and the 'dish' of a radio telescope are

built to have the shape of a 'paraboloid' ... that's the solid shape you get when

you spin a parabola around its nose.

The paraboloid has the interesting geometric property that anything that comes

straight in, parallel to its axis ... whether it's bees, bullets, B-Bs, or electromagnetic

waves ... and bounces off the inside of the curve, all winds up at the same point,

called the "focus" of the paraboloid.

-- The focus is where the film, or the eyepiece, the CCD, or the spectrometer

of the reflecting telescope is placed. All the light that hits the whole mirror is

concentrated onto it.

-- The focus is where the radio receiver of the radio telescope is placed.

All the radio waves that hit the entire dish are concentrated onto it.

-- The focus is where the little LNB on the end of the arm that sticks out in front

of the TV dish on your neighbor's garage is placed. All the microwave waves

from the TV satellite that hit the entire dish are concentrated onto it.

Do people still use the radio?

Then, as now, you paid attention to it since that was where the tuning and volume controls were and the closer you were the easier it was to hear it. Early radios were large, furniture-sized devices operated by vacuum tubes, and signal reception was often interrupted by other stations or by static.
