For the drivers side: lift up the battery cover. Gently pull on the windshield washer fluid reservoir, it will pull out making the light bulb cover accessible. Remove the rubber cover to the bulb you would like to replace. The bulb is now accessible, twist the bulb gently and pull it out. The bulb simply plugs into the electrical socket, so all you need to do is pull it out once you've removed it from the headlight. Reverse the steps to replace the bulb in to the headlight. Use caution not to touch the bulb with your bare hands as the oils from your skin will effect the life of the bulb, I recommend wearing latex gloves.

For the passenger side remove the rubber cover to the bulb the follow the steps listed above.

They should be replaced as part of the major engine overhaul your car needs. There should never be any oil on the spark plugs. A little carbon buildup, perhaps, but no oil. That indicates a serious engine proble such as worn out piston rings, worn out valves and guides, or a worn out turbocharger seal.

There are several different front brake calipers for the Saab 900 depending on the year. The first is from 1979-1987 and is the same as that on the Saab 99 beginning in 1975. You need a special tool to rotate the caliper piston back into place because the front caliper also acts as the parking brake. From 1988 thru 1993, the front calipers on the Classic 900 are the same as those on the Saab 9000. The NG 900 has a completely different brake caliper setup beginning with the 1994 model.

There is no radiator cap on the radiator of the 1994 Saab 900S. there is a coolant reservoir on the drivers side by the shock mount, it is partially see through and you should be able to see the coolant inside, it has a large screw on cap.

Clutch fluid comes out of the same reservoir as brake fluid. So...go buy a little bottle of DOT 4 fluid (for the love of all that is good DO NOT PUT DOT 3 IN A SAAB!) and pour it in.

If it's like my '95 900SE Saab, it's built into the oil filler cap that's right on the top of the engine...when you unscrew the cap and pull it out, the dipstick comes with it.

It's pretty hard. The keys include a complex engine immobiliser system coded to the car.

If you have lost all keys you may need to replace the locks, immobiliser and alarm systems. It gets expensive.

Remove the screw that holds the coolant pipe in the front left of the engine 6. Remove the hose to the throttle body pre-heater 7. Remove the thermostat housing and remove the thermostat 8. Saab's can easily go several hundred thousand miles. The engines are amazingly reliable, especially the 2.0-liter engines of the 1980s. My current daily driver is a 1985 900 8-valve with 288,000 miles and it runs better than most newer Toyota's or Honda's.

The manual transmissions can be a problem on 900s (1979-93), especially in turbocharged models. The 4-speed gearbox was designed in the early 1970s for a 100 hp engine, then a 5th gear was added in 1980. The bearings can wear out at about 200,000 miles, especially if the gear lube is not kept topped off. The automatic transmissions in those cars are an older design as well, so tend to rob the power from the engine.

I also have a 1999 Saab 9-5 and i have over 258,000 miles on it. I had to have work done on the gear box at around 160,000 miles. But the engine and it's components haven't let me down yet! Saab cars are super reliable.

The oil filter is in a container with about a one and one half inch hex nut top. The filter is paper. Remove the engine cover and you will find it in the front right part of the engine. Just to the left bottom of the battery.

The proceedure is in the Owner's manual that you get with they car but I will do my best to answer from memory.

To change the left (driver's side) headlights you need to remove the battery cover. Disconnect the hose that runs along the left hand side of the cover by gently lifting it up out of the clips and move it out of the way. There are 2 fasteners that secure the battery cover. Rotate each one of these a quarter-turn and then lift straight up on the cover.

Be sure you know which headlight you need to change. Low beams are on the ones on the outside, towards the sides of the car. High beams are on the inside toward the radiator.

Remove the dust cap over the headlight you want to change. The caps simply pull off, dont try to rotate them or anything. Once you have the dust caps off you rotate the lights counter-clockwise to get them out of the sockets. You have very little room to work with when changing the bulbs.

The high beams have a metal clip or retaining ring in addition to the light socket. Don't take this off when you are trying to change the bulb. It is part of the socket assembly and needs to stay where it is.

[DIFFERENT ANSWER --- I HAVE A 2003 SAAB 93 CONVERTIBLE and its owners manual and just changed the head lamp bulbs. No need to remove the battery cover, and you do twist the dust caps to get them off and lock them back on. Then you pull off the plug, and unlock a spring clip by pushing the top of it first forward, then to the side and it will fall down but the bottom stays in place so you can lift it back up after changing the bulb. The bulb comes out easily with no unscrewing - the spring clip holds it in place. Put the new bulb in middle prong up and re-clip, plug it in and put the cap back on.]

On my 99 you have to put the key in the ignition and turn to accessory... then press the trunk unlock button

Drain the coolant from the petcock valve on the drivers side of the radiator using a hose to direct the flow of coolant to a container such as a gallon water jug. Remove the front bumper, headlights, radiator fan. Disconnect all coolant hoses. remove the intercooler. Disconnect the oil cooler from the readiator but leave the oil lines hooked up.

To adjust the clutch pedal on a Saab the clutch line needs to be bled. Bleeding the clutch line will allow any air to escape and stiffen up the pedal.
