How many webpages can you bookmark?

I doubt whether there is any upper limit with modern browsers. There would obviously be a restriction when you fill up your entire hard drive with bookmarks but you are unlikely to meet that in practice.

What will limit you is your ability to navigate your way easily through hundreds of bookmarks, so the upper limit is really the capacity of your own memory!

What makes reinforced beam column fail?

First, there is not enough information to properly answer this question. Second, are you needing information on a column or a beam or both? A column is vertical and beam is horizontal. What is the material being used? Wood deflects and has elastic properties that diminish as the wood dries out and ages. Steel has great tensile strength but little elasticity, and fails rapidly under heat. Concrete is great in compression but has little or no tensile strength or elasticity. What are the signs of failure? Are they fractures, stretching, bowing, cracking, shrinking, etc. As you can see there is a lot more to failure than did the roof fall in. if you can answer these questions maybe I can be of assistance. Why is hughes.net slower then dialup?

Short Answer:
Because your data travels a long way into space and then back down. When you request a document (packet) the space travel alone is 88,964 Miles total. If you are getting true speeds slower than dial-up you may have an issue with your dish pointing, network, computer, or bad weather as well.

Long Answer:
Hughes.net satellite internet travels from your computer through whatever network you have setup, into geostationary orbit, back down to the United States East Coast in Maryland I think? Then it travels across the land lines to your destination and then back on the same route. I believe the limitation with Hughes Net is the fact that your data is traveling so far, also they have one data center on the east coast and it usually has some speed issues internally too.

If you are transferring a lot of really small files you will notice this communication distance because a steady stream is not being sent to your computer. The computer is consistently asking for more data, increasing upstream plus downstream communications. If you transfer just one large file you will notice faster speeds because a steady download stream is sent to your computer with less need to send upstream requests.

If they had a data center on the west coast and on the east coast, or even one in Texas, we would see a little lower latency. The biggest disappointment with Hughes Net is quality. They are trying to make it affordable *cough* and to do that they seem to have lost quality in their support and in their data centers.

A new satellite is being launched in 2012. Lets hope it will help some users get better speed. http://bit.ly/cF8Dc

Geostationary Orbit. Look at this map (http://bit.ly/3FEVCD) and think about data traveling to and from the black dotted line. Notice that it is far out (22,241 Miles) that is the same distance of the equatorial circumference of Earth, and the data travels that path twice.
User Comments:
*I have Hughes. Net about a month and I am very disappointed. The average speed is 720b/s.

*I've used Hughes.Net business Services and am mostly disappointed with their really bad Modem/Router (HN9000 / HN7000 ) that forces your network to conform to with missing features.

Will changing your internet from WPA to WEP do anything to your computers or anything hooked up to it?

other things are that my router is Netgear, the internet is from comcast, and it is wireless internet. The reason i am asking this is because i want to be able to play Nintendo ds games online.

Problem is that WEP is weaker than WPA in terms of security. You might want to look at the Nintendo closer. Perhaps it can be upgraded.

Why is legal to copy dvds?

Copying DVDs is generally legal for personal use in some jurisdictions under the principle of fair use or fair dealing, which allows individuals to make copies of media they own for private purposes. However, this legality can vary significantly based on local copyright laws and whether the DVDs are protected by digital rights management (DRM). In many places, circumventing DRM to copy DVDs is illegal, even if the copying itself might be permissible. Always check the specific laws in your area for precise guidance.
